Random improvement idea

Just a thought. I dunno if anyone here played any of the elder scrolls games or skyrim in particular, but there was always random stuff going on. it made the world feel more utilized. You could find npcs all over the place, most were quest givers, some were easy ways to get some loot or armor.

It would be neat if the world felt more used. Therefore, how hard would it be to implement npcs that could walk around the world? Maybe groups that stroll from one town to another on a road. Maybe you are running through the woods and see an npc lumberjack hacking on a tree. a random npc fishing off the coast. Maybe beggers that setup a little 1 tile begging station on the road - it wouldn't affect house placement then =)

These npc's could be quest givers, they could be useless, they could be really tough and hard to kill if one desired, and they could be pushover "wanderers" that carry some clothes and a sack of gold. The lumberjacks could be taken down and stripped of their loot and logs... npc miners along the mountains, some random drunk npc lost in the wilderness blabbing crap over his head about escorting him home.

You could encounter an npc caravan carrying "the kings jewels" from Britain to another town, maybe it has some npc guards on horseback, and archers on the carriage, they could be crazy hard to kill and take a team, but you never see them in the same place twice, and they could have a random drop of something cool.

Even incorporate a lot of the empty spaces, the random houses and huts in the world, add more, add tents in random areas. Add npcs into those cooking dinner, chilling in their chair. Have low level npcs attack you for invading their home. Wander over to an orc camp or cemetery and find npcs banding together to fight.. and probably die, but then it looks like something is going on…

Just makes the world feel more alive and adds some creativity to the mix.

I've made similar suggestions. Or, at least, suggestions along similar lines. (Mine was stuff like, random Raider camps along the road, similar to gypsy camps.)

Last time I advance this notion, though, I got insulted, so it'll be interesting to see if you get the same reaction.

In both cases, yours and mine, the idea is to provide some kind of content that's neither player-driven, nor EM-driven, nor is part of an epic storyline -- not to replace either, but rather just to round out the world and to provide different kinds of things to do.

Why? It's easy to add random pixel crap.. So that's what we get..

In all seriousness though cetric..good ideas, maybe it would promote adventuring again..rather then oh kill this..ok Recall in kill recall out.

I think it'd be fun or add adventure like you said caz, but i also think itd be hilarious if a pvp fight boiled over into the country side, a guy goes to run away, and gets stam blocked by a npc miner, or drops a field on a road and a band of npcs hits it and kills the guy. But yea, in the long run, i think it'd just be fun to see things happening in random places and not expect it. kind of like the old savage camp vs. orc camps. maybe stroll into despise one day and theres a 6 man band of npcs taking down ettins. i dunno!

Ha! I just thought of an awesome gold sink...NPC Spawn Raiders..they cost 5m mercenary and last for one hour within the spawn area..they are super hard to kill and could take 2-3 people attacking it to get it..they can be commanded by their "purchaser"...maybe it'll add some sort of a safety factors for the bigger tram guilds to get them spawning..

-Disclaimer-
Obv a joke..would hate for Galen to start preaching fel vs tram logic for the next few pages..

Great idea Cetric! I suggested it in the Q&A but nothing like this in detail. Good job!

I was just playing a different game and they had two NPCs fighting in a PvP area......... The first thing that went through my mind was "AWESOME I have never seen this done before."

We have that feature in GW2 both WvW (PvP) and PvE
