UO Lite Client

Reasoning:

I have a suit to finish crafting, but don't have time to sit in front of the computer all the time and sometimes need to be sneaky about getting UO time. The suits I make are enhance after reforged and imbued, which requires lots of base pieces to be made to get the right resist spread...talking months to complete. Would love to play for 15 minutes at lunch to make a few pieces trying to get it complete.

UO Lite Client

I would like a client that isn't graphics based, or zoomed out far enough where graphics don't matter, yet I can craft on my phone. So basically I would be able to open chests in my home while on a character and craft items and drop in another chest. Would need to be able to use the crafting gumps and garbage can or able to recycle crappy armor. Things can be list based.

Maybe access my bank box or flip through vendors to buy additional resources.

I would also like to be able to chat.

Lovely idea...If only the Devs had time for all the cool ideas, as it is there are so few of them that it must be a struggle just keeping up with the basics.

Really a smaller client that some bot can sit there and use 15 clients at once and not have to work, sorry you may want this for your phone but would be MASSIVLY abused.

As you said. Coding a new client, no matter how "lite," is not an easy undertaking. The Devs clearly aren't staffed enough to beta-test on their own, not to mention the man-hours this would take from everything else. Are there even enough players to justify this compared to the upcoming PvP system?

I bet there is a larger market for phone games than uo currently will ever see on the PC. Why is everyone so negative to putting a new app at the app store? You don't have to download it or buy it.

If I had the login code information I would even make an app just for talking in UO chat like guild chat or whatever and wherever. I would sell it for another buck and keep milking the cow. If you want UO to survive it needs to adjust to the platforms people use now compared with those in the 90's. A pc is overkill for carpentry. I'm just making thousands of pieces and need a better platform than a PC.

You should know by now that UO players HATE change and new ideas. Even if it's good for the game.

An in-game chat app for UO would be cool. Similar to like the one for World of Warcraft works, you can access your guild chat on your iphone or android and talk to your in-game guild mates from your phone.

Development time. Did you not see what I wrote about what it would take, as if the Devs aren't working on other things? Which do you think there is more demand for, a chat app or PvP system? Which do you think will retain and possibly attract players?

It doesn't take a lot of PC hardware to do everything there is in the game, whether carpentry or heavy dungeon spawns, but when the Devs' time is so limited, why should they bother making even one limited client for very small demand, and which would require switching to do something more substantial than chat? Think about it. The point of UO's two clients is that launching either can do anything in the game, without having to log out if you decide to do something else.

I've played a number of mobile game apps, but I have never encountered one with the richness of UO's content, PvP or PvM or crafting. Only a relative few are known for expansive content or longevity, and level-based F2P gets old very quickly.

Nope he said it's just an Acer tablet comp.. Win 7.. the kind with a click on keyboard or you can undock it and run a virtual keyboard..
Mouse functions work fine with the pointer he says.. CC runs well with no problems.. He says it's a little slow playing at work but fine for fishing or crafting..

We could use a chest that can hold infinite items. When standing near the chest you could craft items and the materials could either come from your pack or the chest. That would speed up crafting.

Hate to break it to everybody, but Broadsword already said they are making a new UI. What that entails I do not know. A mod or a whole new client. Remember EA wanted to go with just one client.

Given Mesanna mentioned working with Pinko, my bet is they are combining the Default EC with Pinko's and producing a client that is a combination of both and calling it a new UI.

I strongly doubt there is any 'new client' on the horizon. What I believe to be more likely is that some of Pinco's features may be incorporated into the default UI of the existing EC client to improve it.

look up accessing your desktop from your phone. might can do it from a tablet better. Might need a major set of reading glasses too!
