Petra in the defense of the OP I'll say this...... Malas has pretty much ZERO wandering healers. Die there and it's a LONG walk to a healer. I remember this after taking my newbie necro off exploring and finding trees surrounded by evil Pixie hordes.

Secondly Ter Mur.... Large land... again almost NO wandering healers. There are a few.... but those few are extremely few and very far between...... and without the EC telling you where exactly they are you aren't likely to find them. And if you play in the 2d client you are just SOL. And to be 100% honest..... the lands of Tokuno have wandering healers as well but WAY fewer than you will find in Trammel or Felluca. Though you could say the same about Illshenar and T2A as well....... NO healers.

Don't even bother to look for a healer in the Stygian Abyss either. Sure the silver sapling will let you res with stuff once, but after that well, is a long run in any direction. It is why I HATE fighting there. And agree with Mala Ter Mur is impossible to find a healer in as well. It is as if they just 'forget' to put healers in when they design this stuff. Makes playing a bore.

A while back, Mesanna mentioned placing more healers in the overlands, including the tunnels leading to the 3rd level of Covetous. But that was a while ago, and it seems she has been pretty busy lately.

Maybe a temp fix... put a damn ankh outside tomb of kings and other entrances?

I guess i just need to make friends with other players or join a guild to get rezzed. lol.

On Baja the house on the tram side of the abyss has an ankh that I donated. I've died way too many times down there.

ahh...

Find another player? I like the fact they are sparse as I have to learn in which areas they hang out.

That's part of learning the lay of the land.

Just like in the real world. There are places in the wilderness that help just doesn't exist.

Live with it, learn from it, and develop skills and knowledge.

thanks lord... its true im still learning the new lands.. but still an issue with healers..

i know there are times where you end up running around dead way past the time your body decays.. i accept that. its part of UO.. always has been.

but just like in fel back in the day there was a similar issue... has been addressed.

so just bringing it up.. for new players just getting the game.. it sure will be a pain.. and a quick cancel of account due to frustration. i know this is how UO is at times. but somone new won't deal with this well.

..

yeah ima have to setup my other account and just leave a res char hidden outside. lol

...

i started this post last night in frustration. but in my opinion it could be addressed. and very simply. i know its low priority on the scale but with not requiring new code and just a few more spawn points for wandering healers.. or an ankh.. its something that can be quickly fixed.

I understand..

Here is the deal

We learn, We adapt, We overcome. You can insure your special items and over time you grow in your knowledge. refer to General chat for assistance. (pretty much always someone who can find you for a rez)

Honestly someone who doesn't engage in the community at all and leaves because they can't find a healer is fine with me.

I think the best thing to do is kind of what you did posted hey I am frustrated how do I work around this.

As you can see several ideas popped up from the community. Probably a few more would in general chat on your shard.

There are all kinds of folks around you to help and support you. Just reach out and be open to their help.

UO is an experience best shared. A plea for help in gen chat might be enough that someone will open a gate to bring you back to town, and as you've seen, there's the stuck option. At least now it has repeated use, albeit with growing delays. When it debuted, there were only two uses per character in a 24-hour period. After that, clicking the option initiated a GM page.

This thread has me thinking of the early days, when any overland spawn was sometimes nonexistent, especially wandering healers. A co-worker, who I didn't know played, told me he quit this new $60 game because he couldn't find any regular animals, and after exploring all around the wilderness, the first thing he encountered was an air elemental (which killed him). Even after spawn was improved, there weren't a lot of wandering healers, not to mention that PKs sometimes killed any within several screens of a dungeon entrance. If you think it's bad today :), what a pain in those days to head out as a ghost. I'm trying to think what was worst, probably a toss-up between Shame and Covetous, because of making one's way through the different levels. Rat Valley wasn't too bad a run to town once we learned Yew had a healer shop.

One thing I remember about first playing UO was the race to get back to our bodies in hopes no one looted them dry. (In Trammel) there are a few things you can do to help with this. Make sure you have a rune marked to as close as where you are hunting that you can. A safe spot on the level of the dungeon(if markable) you are hunting is very helpful. If you have a 100% LRC insured you are okay on getting healed back up. If you have a pet, attach them to a pet ball. as soon as returning to life, summon them. If they are alive they can help protect you till you are set back up. If you are a tamer or a warrior with no Chivalry then buying a bandage talisman is a great investment. (they can be recharged) I play classic client so I can't speak for what EC can help with, but UOassist has a dress macro that will help you get dressed faster and back on your way. If all else fails you take and hide some bandages near the healer or entrance to where you are going. Hopefully it will speed your recovery time.

I just went and checked to verify, we use to be able to buy bandages from wandering healers, not sure why they don't now.

For me, I can run from any spot in the Abyss to the healer outside the tomb and get back to my body without it poofing. Set some verbal macros to get back in. Same for spots in Ter Mur, and Malas, I think the timing is up to 5 minutes our bodies stay now?

I know it is frustrating, but once you get back into the swing of the game, it will get easier. In some other games I hear tell you don't lose things while dying so (in UO) it's that initial fear of oh Lord, my stuff's gonna poof! Your UO reflexes will return soon!

Thank goodness for insurance and welcome home :)
