Is it possible to make a Stealthing suit with NO hiding/stealth real skills ?

Would it be possible, using imbuing and reforging to make a suit that allows to stealth with a decently good chance NOT to be revealed or at least not too often ? How ?
This would be with Hiding and Stealthing skill points ONLY on items, NOT as real skills.

How many points hiding skill and how many points stealthing skill would be needed to have on items ?

I read various posts with different views, some say 60 Stealth would be enough not to be revealed, some say that while having 80 stealth (+30 stealth jewels, +20 shadow dancer legs, +20 royal cloak, +10 cloak silence) they would get revealed after one step...

It is my undestanding that 30 Hiding is the minimum to then stealth, but would that be enough for the whole suit to work ?

Also, other than jewels, is it possible to reforge/imbue skill points on other pieces of a suit ? Which ones ?

Thanks a lot.

I think you need real skill in hiding to allow you to stealth. Even if not, I don't think there would be enough skills on gear to make this idea feasible since you asking for a suit to make it so you wont be revealed often.

Before even considering this, though, I think the first question that needs to be asked is whether or not you can even get hiding skill on armor/jewels? I don't recall ever seeing this skill on equipment...

You need 50 real hiding skill (UOGuide says 30) to begin training Stealth. But I believe - haven't tested this mind you - that once you have the Stealth skill you can use other means to hide first (spell or potion) and then stealth. The downside is that all other means of hiding have timers on them.

You can't use smoke bombs to hide without hiding skill, because the smoke bombs do a skill check for hiding skill.

Okay, just confirmed on TC that you need 30.0 skill in hiding to stealth. Once you are hidden and stealthing, there doesn't seem to be another skill check for hiding.

Unfortunately there are no other items besides jewels with Hiding skill. However you can do a juggling act by making pure skill jewels and moving contemporary mods like HCI/DCI/DI on armor and add on clothing items/talismans. You can roughly get 90+ skills on Jewels total.

mmm I don't think that is correct since hiding will go up when you are stealthed.

Not true - you can try it yourself on TC. Set your skill in stealth to 100.0 and hiding to 30.0, lock hiding and then stealth. I didn't fail at stealthing.

So, the most I can get of Hiding ONLY from items is 30 split in between ring and bracelet (15+15) ?
Or is it possible with reforging to exceed the 15 skill CAP on jewels ?

To avoid too much risk of being revealed by Monsters, #1 the checks are versus Stealth level, Hiding level or both ? #2 What should be a decent level of the skill or skills checked to have ?

Thing is, that if Hiding is checked to get revealed and the most one can get from items is only 30 points, I guess it is plainly not possible to make a Hiding/Stealthing suit with no points invested as real skills....

Everything they said above is true- with the addition that you cannot imbue hiding on anything and to my knowledge, there are no artifacts that have hiding as a skill.

You need the REAL skill to start stealthing. After that you can start piling on with skill jewels and armor. As to whether or not it is feasible to build on a real shard for what you intend, then you might want to give it a test run on the test shard.

ive got a couple guys that i put 100 hiding on then tried to operate them with as little stealth as i could and then buff up their stealth with items and i can confirm that you need at least 30 REAL in stealth to be able to use the skill.
after that you can buff up with items.
typically you dont need over 80 in stealth to operate 100% of the time, just dont out walk your stealth, so 8 steps then it gets rechecked.
the problem with using another means to hide yourself is it times out.
so if you run up with a precast invis and drop it on yourself then stealth away when your spell wears out you pop out.
so at some time in the process your gonna need to use a real hide to keep yourself hidden.
thats why i always go with the 100 real hiding and min stealth and buff it up (30 ring and watch, 20 leggings, 10 cloak, mark of the tav if ya want higher or bandana)

Ya, I just trained up Hiding and Stealth on a new character last week.

If you have all medable armor then you only need about 65 Stealth. If you want to use non-med armor, you will need higher skill depending on armor type - a plate samurai helm caused me to fail even at high 90's skill. The Stratics and UOGuide training guides are good references for this. So it is possible to make a suit without any real stealth skill.

Ok, lets say you want to make a ninja and you would like to squeeze in a bit of healing ability and or resist.

So it is good to start on a 2 x 90 template (excluding modifiying tactics) and 50 stealth.

ie

90 Fencing 120 with +30
90 Ninjitsu 120 with +30
50 Stealth 120 with +30 Jewels,Royal Guard, Shadow Dancers - Robe slot open.
120 resist
90 Tactics
90 Anat
90 Healing
100 Hiding

Total 720

So, if I understood it right, it is necessary to have at least 30 REAL points in Hiding to hide and also 30 REAL points in Stealthing to initiate stealthing and then with items it is possible to add skill points.
The problem is, that I was hoping to be able not to have to spend 60 REAL points in hiding and stealthing...

I was hoping to get a winning lottery ticket this week, but I didn't. Life is about learning to cope with what is given to us, not what we hoped for and then complain when we don't get it.

Not complaining, just realizing that, unfortunately, I cannot put together the suit I hoped I could....
