i was out on Origin tonight messing around with the Vendor Search and a thought came to me.
why do we have to pay 1000 gold to go to the vendor?
we already pay to buy a vendor contract, chances are we are paying for the spot for our vendor, why are we getting triple billed and having to now pay to GO to the vendor?
why cant we just recall off the map and be taken to the vendor?
why does this have to be a money grab?

i thought of this when i realized i spent 1000 gold to be taken to an item that was only costing me 200 gold to buy.
and this was the 10th item i was going to look at so ive now spent 10k just to go around and buy a couple items.

why the charge?
why cant this be free... paid for by our Glorious King Blackthorn and his forward thinking Financial Adviser as a treat to his loving and loyal people?

cant something new be free?
the shine of new stuff is getting duller when i realize i have to pay to use it.
same as that boat event, had to buy like 30 bloody anchors at 1900 a pop just to do the quest.
money money money.
isnt it enough i pay ever month!

you can still use the nearest moongate or rune and run the rest...
If you want the shortcut, you have to pay...

Don't use the search to get to your own vendor and you won't be 'triple billed' ....

typically i only use a vendor search on shards where im making a new guy, and if im making a new guy on a new shard then yes gold is tight.

and this wouldnt be a issue if reading and using a map in game was actually half way easy to do.
#put the pin where you actually need to go.
#frugal.

Maybe a percentage of this fee can be used to help the governors to make trade deals? Lower populated shards could use the help from what I've been reading.

I figure when I find items more than once on the same vendor, I'll just mark a rune for future use - just like the old days. It's gonna be great!

If the shortcut wasn't optional, I could see the argument against it. However, as others have pointed out, you don't have to use it if you don't need to.

I am curious regarding the vendor system - i havent re-set up my vendors yet but i plan to.

How long does it take before they're in the search engine?

not sure on a day by day basis but to start with it is three hours or so to build data base

Maybe I should experiment with that.

My other question is - if my keep is where I have my vendors and I put the vendors on the back wall where it's by Vesper city limits, will the runes take them to the back? Or to the front of the house?

I'd use a steward deed for free marked runes to give people who do come by, so they could keep it for future use.

I would think the front by the sign

To the front; this means you end up in strange places when you go to some luna vendors, as well.

So I guess it would be smarter to put at least some vendors where they'll be visible in the front of the keep. Thanks for the info!

by the time your character needs something to buy you can't get from NPCs, you should have much more than 1k to spend...and more likely than not for a new character, it's more beneficial to slum it at Shame than it is to troll vendors. we'll see if that changes, I guess, with the advent of the vendor search...maybe someone will sell things at more competitive prices for noobs

as soon as you put it on the vender its on the search, or it was on test anyways.
when the search goes out and looks it does it right then in real time, so your getting to the second results.
