Rewriting books with inscription--I am unable to promote my tournament

I have been trying to promote the tournament I will be hosting next week by dropping books with basic info by gates and banks. Major problem I am having is that the person or people that advertise a specific gold-for-cash website quickly find and rewrite my books that I have dropped so now it promotes their activity that breaks ToS rules.

I would use red leaves but that would take more than I could find on vendors.And I wouldn't want to use red leaves on books I am dropping on the ground anyway. I wish rewriting,or copying over books,weren't so easy to do. I wish the Dev's would do something about these gold sellers.

While we can't do much ourselves about the books, there's every possibility we could do something to prevent yours being overwritten when the 'cause' is an event benefitting the shard as a whole. I suggest an appeal for donations of red leaves on Catskills forum

Write a couple of books and seal with red leaves, lock em down at your house and houses of people in luna who are willing to help, then mark runes to the tournament 'invitation & rules' and dump them around so people can recall to the book to read it. Put your books on brightly coloured gozas or pillows so they stand out, and perhaps put a steward there with the books available for people who say 'book' or whatever prompt you use.

I have had this problem as well. It is completely infuriating and I too wish they would do something about it. There are times when I think the game is set up more for third party gold sellers than for regular players. The tolerance for this kind of activity in game, the runaway scripting that is ignored, the way the EM drops have turned into gold fountains for certain people, and the incredibly skewed way cross shard jumping is done have created a perfect environment for this nonsense.

Legitimate players shouldn't have to spend extra time and money--taking away from that they could be putting into their events--just to circumvent open cheaters. The above suggestions are good, but it's completely stupid that we have to work around these people.

FYI I pick up and throw out any book or rune I see you drop. Been doing it for years.

I agree this is a pain. The runes and books that I've put out are picked up also. Now I keep masters and have them locked down at my house and friends in Luna. The only good thing I never have to buy the books I need. Those books advertising the bad sites, make it into my back packs and are reused for the guide books at the player center . You can also ask if other scribes could also make the books and runes for you. I've done this on my shard to help out.

I should have a ton of red leaves on Catskills if you want them. Also if you get me a copy of your book your trying to use I'll make sure I copy it onto every gold seller book I see haha

Thanks,Thom. I have changed tactics by dropping runes instead of books.Because I marked the runes while inside of my house,the description can not be changed unless they are re-marked.

You could Probably just hit them up on icq or through their site and ask them not to copy over your books. They did it for the Syndicate Guild, I'm sure they'd do it for anyone who asked.
