I think someone hacked Goldberg's account and posted this!Yes folks... you saw it here. l liked a goldberg post. Spot on.
I believe one of the worse problems with faction is, it split the shard and it split guilds on 2 stones.the old system's time had run its course. the elimination of the points system and making the gear ethereal was just the final nail in the coffin.
I will wait for the new system. Hopefully it will be well thought out. I would love to see some king of the hill type fights or something that makes holding the towns meaningful.
It could make more get the taste of PvP, when they can see it's not as bad as the rumors tells. A lot would never go to Felucca to PvP but they may choose to make some chars open for PvP to get more challenge, if they also get a bonus in fame and loot. The population of the game is too small to make MORE areas for people to pvp in. Its hard enough finding a fight in just Fel, imagine having to roam Trammel for a fight as well?
Yea, it's my first one too, I think..... Sorry GYes folks... you saw it here. l liked a goldberg post. Spot on.
I would agree with every point FrejaSP makes here... It would put people out mixing together, without being afraid because you're a Tailor... Just make it consensual (with a 3 day cool-down, and yes Freja, it's 3 days) and be done with it...I believe one of the worse problems with faction is, it split the shard and it split guilds on 2 stones.
The system need to work for the whole shard on all facets. Forcing a whole guild to join is wrong as a guild be built of all kind of playstyles, crafters, monster farmers, PvP'ers etc.
It need to work with the rule sets so the non PvP'ers in a guild can choose to be safe.
An other thing I would love to see is changes to the Tram/Fel ruleset, so a player can choose to turn Tram ruleset off for their char so they can PvP with other chars with Tram rules turned off, even when in Trammel. Turn it off should take a week, just like getting out of faction. As playing without Tram protection may increase the risk, they should gain more fame from monsters and a little increase in the value of the loot. Sure we would need a flag color for the ones with Tram rules turned off. I also think you in guild list should be able to see who is PvP+ and who is PvP-. I would also like a guildmaster to choose if the guild was Tram off, Tram on or free for the members to choose for their char.
I really feel it have to be possible remove the split between Tram and Fel and make a new system, that allow players/guilds to choose PvP or not, but builded on the good old Red vs Blue system, where reds have same rules as on Siege. The ones who choose to play with Tram rules turned on, would be safe almost everywhere.
I know it's not easy to make a system like that it will be abused if not made right. Trading between Tram on and Tram off will need a limit outside town zone, else chars with Tram on will be used as pack mules.
And I'm guessin' your cup is always half/empty.......The population of the game is too small to make MORE areas for people to pvp in. Its hard enough finding a fight in just Fel, imagine having to roam Trammel for a fight as well?
How could you possibly think the population is big enough right now to think dividing the pvp players even MORE would be a good thing? And I'm guessin' your cup is always half/empty.......
Just go to luna? theres always people there and most of it isnt gaurdzone. I dont care one way or the other. but it would be fun to be able to "turn on pvp" just for the chance to run into something rather than having to look for it. the only time i spend in fel is for spawns, farming whetstones, and yew gate crap. alot of people spend most their time in tram / islsh / malas just because thats where vendors or their house is. I think its a good idea. i wouldnt think of it as increasing the places you have to check to find pvp, but more of increasing the chances to randomly run into pvp while doing things youd be normally doing. How could you possibly think the population is big enough right now to think dividing the pvp players even MORE would be a good thing?
I have a character I play on every shard, and while some ideas may work on Atlantic, it wont for 80% of the rest of the shards. I don't think I am being pessimistic in my understanding of the reality of the situation.
In a lot of other MMO's you can pvp on demand with Arenas/Battlegrounds, but in UO you have to actively find your pvp yourself. That means, checking yew gate (A bad example of "pvp"), or checking every spawn location. Most of the time, all of those spawns are empty, and even IF there is someone doing one, its in 1 of 19 locations across dungeons/t2a/SA. If you are part of factions, maybe you get lucky and some guild decides to fight over sigils for some reason. 99% of the time you are resigned to the fact of going to yew gate just to pvp against someone.
Now imagine if existing pvpers could just "pvp" in trammel, with all the added benefits of the Risk/Reward that Fel has. Instead of people going to fel for those "rewards", they instead stay in trammel. So in order to find someone to pvp against, you would now have to check locations in trammel in ADDITION to all the locations in Fel.
Hopefully V/V provides a good system of dependable pvp. If it has enough reward v the risk associated with it, people will be enticed to join. If the fights like in concept are in certain locations to earn the rewards, it will be a dependable way to FIND a fight, something UO used to have in spawns. Alas, over time Spawns have lost their luster which is why V/V is much needed.
