When you think of role playing, what comes to mind?
This question is intended for players in general and the role role playing comunity. I hope I have placed it in the right place.
If you asked me years ago I would have answered. Role playing is talking funny, saying things like thee and thou play acting. I have looked up Old English, or Anglo-Saxon as it is also known and tried to talk like that. But in the end I just lost interest.
Recently it came to mind my play style leans more toward role playing. It's not that I talk funny. I mainly stay solo. 98% of the time I don't see a sole, especially on LA. So there is no one to talk to.
So now if you asked me; When you think of role playing, what comes to mind? I would answere.
For me role playing is not as much how I talk but how I Work my character. When I work my miner I take my pack horse and spend hours alone in the mountains digging for ore. Then walk to the nearest anvil and forge to make ingots. My tinker and blacksmith use the ingots.
My archer depends on my Lumberjack for arrows. Generaly the archer will trade feathers and strength potions with the lumberjack/ Fletcher for arrows.
The barter system is part of role playing.
Right, so what is role playing? (to me)
Role playing is diving into your character, it's how you talk. It's the barter system, of trading for your needs. Its hunting for feathers to triad for arrows. It's walking to town rather than gaiting everywhere.
Ok, those are my thoughts. How about you.
