I'm so confused why you keep insisting the crash is a hardware issue... The only hardware is in the pathway that moves us to the cloud. Since the shard crash resulted in a revert, it's something a bit more. And since there are no other sites and talk of wacky nono Internet activity, one has to assume it's illegal activity causing the powers that be to shut Atlantic down and roll her back. Or I'm a bit confused.. I'm sure everyone will drink the cool aid that is poured out yet again, and go about the delusion that it was hardware or corrupted files that were non recoverable, or whatever bs reasoning is tossed to the wind. In the end we will grin and bear it.

Unless Amazon employs wizards, the "cloud" is still made up of hardware. Since it is highly unlikely that a 17 year old online game would run over a true distributed computing network, UO servers are probably on blades at one of Amazon's cloud server farms.

In speaking of hardware, I'm asserting that the crashes are not a hardware issue, not that the cloud is not comprised of hardware. Atlantic is not sitting on it's own server in the cloud, it's own blade. A hardware issue would cause more than just Atlantic to be troubled.

I guess I should have worded what you quoted better. The only hardware they physically can touch.

it's not on a dedicated blade - it's virtualized over many computers probably and if 1 fails it doesn't matter at all - it gets automatically instantly switched over to another blade
so talking about hardware failures is completely pointless and stupid at this point - everything is virtual instances now which are spread out over amazon's server farm like a thin layer of butter on toast
