I made this a Suggestion:

With Vendor Search coming It might be a good idea to place a market for each town (With a Governor).

On that market (20 Spots or so a town) you can place 1 vendor a account (And you need to be Citizen of that town.) A Small percentage of the sales of that vendor go to the City Treasury to be used to make Trade Deals. As a Governor it would be nice for Extra ways to fund our towns to make trade deals active. :)

This is an excellent idea. Just add a bit more time to the cycle and allow more things like seeds and other materials to be sold. Expand what you can sell on a market and help the Governors out with the taxes based on consumption.

This is a great and simple ideal. Keep having them and making them look bad you'll end up on their ignore list.

I'd go for this if the vendor spots were small and spread around the cities, not the eyesores in New Magincia. Having them kick a little gold into the town's treasury is a good idea.

A important thing that needs to be added to the markets is that the Governor only can give permission to place a vendor in town and the governor somehow needs the ability to remove vendors who are "rented" when they are empty for some time to give others a chance to obtain one.

Wouldn't it be better to just automate the removal of empty vendors? And I fear that people who have difficulty contacting a governor and meeting up with them to get a spot or are just turned down by the governor for a location for any reason at all will just find the whole system one more thing about UO that they detest. We don't really need anything else added to UO that gives easy opportunities for players to grief each other. I'd much rather see something like this be automated, Frarc.

Thats true, But there realy need to be something that would remove empty vendors ,otehrwise we would end up with vendors that have no use. The main thing of this idea is to get extra funds for the city treasury without that the Governors have to come up with their own gold only to fund the trade deals. :)

I heard other nice ideas to get extra funds. Like Zoo donations, Britain Library and Vesper Museum that some of the donations from those also go to the City Treasury. But then we have to come up with a idea for other sort of donation type in other towns.

Or maybe anything bought from a town, from any NPC, go a small persentage to the city Treasury. Its all small thoughts how to help the governos and the trade deals. :)

One MAJOR problem, who gets to choose who get the 20 Vendor Spots, Sorry that alone is a deal killer :) Not a bad idea but cannot limit it, and on ATL you cannot give it to everyone. AND right off the bat NO NO NO to any more bidding, or contests like getting a Mag house plot :-(

How about having the NPCs in the town that belong the guild that has the current trade deal with the town (arranged by the governor) sell a high-priced blessed item (maybe a receipt showing you paid 250,000 gold?) that gives the trade deal buff to the buyer for a week? No one would have to drop gold on the city stone anymore. And maybe the city stone could keep a running total, visible to all citizens, throughout the governor's term showing how much was purchased by the players from each different type of guild, in case the governor changes the trade deal during his term. That might help the governors see which trade deals are popular with the citizens and which ones aren't (assuming they don't just lock themselves into one trade deal for the whole term).

We are just brainstorming on some idea's. How and IF anything like this can be implented is not up to us. :)

I only gave a rough idea to start with. :)

Any idea that helps the governors and the citizens to raise the funds for the trade deals is good. (And needed). :)

You can't beat the original vendors implementation.
Everything since has gone down the drain.

Nuke Luna, cancel this so-called vendor search and let people find their customers and suppliers like they always were meant to.

You're just slowly killing what's left of the spirit of the game.

You do realize that "the original" had vendor loci of tents crowded outside Brit, Skara, near the abbey, and at the crossroads, yes? It was never about "Luna," but rather where the best player real estate was. Luna just happened to be closer and more organized than what existed previously. And do you also realize that people spent an awful lot of time searching, even before the advent of the great variety of magical items? It was simple to see who was selling AR33 (AR30 in a pinch), GM bows or whatever, but not so simple to run around and see who was in stock. The very reason for the vendor search is to save people time so they can go out and play, not spend most of their time gearing up.

Insofar as vendor searching, the game hasn't changed as much as people have changed. A lot of younger folks who still play UO now have families and more serious employment, and the game isn't exactly attracting a lot of new players who are young and have lots of free time. On top of that, it's no longer 1998, when a crowd could be found at at WBB at any hour of the day (even discounting macroers). With the population being a fraction of what it was, it's not always possible to log on and find a seller in general chat. Many items are expensive enough that people don't put them on vendors.
