Vender Search, they sure are sitting on it for a while!

so its been well over a month now since we got a taste of the vender search on Test and they are still sitting on it.
either thats a good thing and they are trying to get the wrinkles out of it, OR, its a bad thing and they are killing it.
last time i saw them sit on something this long was the first attempt at revamping factions with the new bases and such, then they sat on it.... then they killed it.

hoping thats not the case here.

In all my years playing UO there is one thing I've learned....

I would much rather they SIT on things as you say it than push out some half ass complete pile of filth on me that is riddled with problems and bugs they will NEVER fix.

So the longer it takes the better ..... I'd rather they did it right or not at all.

Would of better they banned and stopped the current search activity. There is no good coming from any search legal or not. The release of chat is all that was needed for finding a desired item. If there was such a great demand for more vendor house activity the SE city loop would share the load with Luna.

It has been well over a month... but with the Christmas and New Years Holidays, I believe that Mythic virtually shuts down for a few weeks. Discount the "well over a month" by the holiday time and it's really not been that long.

I too hope they take the time to do job we'll be happy with (and we're a tough lot to please usually).

Are you able to type in the search criteria 120 Swords and actually show 120 swords power scrolls yet? Without such basic features I fear it'll be the "second" option..
It would also be cool for a price check option if you price check a specific item it takes the average of all listed items that are the same and shows a price..but that's just my lazy talk and asking for alot

That is a pretty narrow-minded attitude, seeming that someone has a Luna house and worries their price gouging of players will soon end. Many players are not online during the prime-time of 8:00-10:00 PM and general chat just doesn't work. The UO economy won't collapse, players will not quit in drives, and the skies of Sosaria won't fall on us.

This is in no way a bad thing for UO, and should have been available years ago.

There are some really limited items that one person can corner the market on. Well untill someone else comes along and thinks they can make another 5 million off each CC type item. SOon as the vendor search goes live the Bally GD herders will have a new toy to play with. Not to mention one powerful tool for the gold sites to use. They shared there search tool for a reason. Same greedy reason was why they never shared their IDOC search tool. Puf Puff Pass the glasses that only sees rainbows and unicorns. We've been over this before. People sell based on supply and demand. If someone thinks he's going to corner the market and sell anything at the high prices you named, that person will not be selling a lot.

Because of that one site I won't name, people already can do this. Why will a vendor search make it any different?

I wouldn't be at all surprised if their "Search Results" didn't somehow fail to list the cheapest 2 or 3 of each item as well so that when an order comes in they can buy cheap. The in-game system searching all vendors is a much more even and fair system.

And next they will get to find an uber sale on medusa tiles on a vendor house on Cape Hope. Their just not selling gold on those sites. And think how they are restocking those 100s of millions of gold they sell. Storing billions in gold. Policing, observing and bann wiping there operation. Now there is a goldsink after just the first few hits would make a play to improving the economy. Really what new player that is forced to buy gold to buy inflated items will be around after a few years if that? Long ago a nillion gold was over $10. Now days something that sold for million gold now sells for 100+ million gold. At .30 per million the gold site dealers are making more money for same rare item.

On a good thought. The RL economy is so screwed up they are making the same money as before to feed and cloth their kids. Ahh the family biz that never comes up at the family reunions.

There seems to be nothing at all listed listed on the popular search site for ANY of the Japanese, Korean, or Taiwanese shards. Or Europa.

Every term I try for any of those 11 shards (Arirang, Asuka, Balhae, Europa, Formosa, Hokuto, Izumo, Mizuho, Sakura, Wakoku, Yamato) yields no results whatsoever, other than a little advertising-type blurb saying I can order an item related to the search I made from the search site's online store and have it delivered to any shard.

I've tried searching using terms like "scroll," "spell," "book," "ring," "bracelet," "robe," "cloak," "dye," "tub" and "reward" and still get absolutely no results at all for those shards. However, searching with those terms for any other shard which is listed will give at least a handful of results, if not hundreds of results for those terms.

So yes, it isn't hard to look at the situation with that particular search site and wonder why you can see the little "bot" regularly stroll through Luna but apparently never pass along any of its information for ANY of those shards.

Search sites mostly sell gold at fifty cents a million which is very high in most circles. I can remember when it was 25 dollars a million. Making a small tower worth 125 bucks. A SMALL tower mind you ....... a castle or keep was worth WAY more.

I also remember when people sold stuff on EBay.

And I don't think the search sites buy stuff to sell you off vendors. I'm fairly sure they just dupe it.

But if you opt out what really is the point? But it'll be good for the little guys who can't afford a free luna spot minus Atlantic..

As long as the search works as well as the other search site I personally don't care how I search..but I won't use the vendor search in game in it's current state.. Try searching for basic things as you stand in front of the vendor and get no results..don't release it in it's current state..make sure all search fields work

I know that what they sell is duped, or at least duped that they're reselling. My knowledge isn't first-hand but comes from someone talking in general chat who had no motive to lie. I always figured that was their angle, but not listing the lowest-priced items to buy and resell could very well be. It'll be interesting when the game vendor search goes live.

Like I've said several times: supply and demand. If someone buys something to resell, and others are willing to pay that higher price, then the original price was undervalued. In economics, the terms are consumer surplus and producer surplus. And this can already be done under the current game and "that one" website. The upcoming game feature merely legitimizes vendor searching, making it faster, and also more trustworthy that the searchers aren't purposely hiding products for their own purchasing.

Someone might want to opt out if he has a newbie-directed vendor, like giving away spellbooks, but all it takes is discovery of such a vendor with free or low-cost items.

I just got the Tinker Legs drop about 15 minutes ago. People do the mini-spawn, leave the Renowned, and I just clean up after them. I get lucky now and then.

Right. After all that's how the free market is supposed to work, with suppliers, distributors and retailers taking a cut of the action. If you want to cut out the middle men, invest the time and effort to become the supplier.

If someone wants to pay the huge vendor fees while the item sits on a vendor to make a few million gold, the more power to them.
