Question about horses, summon creature

I just logged into my house, which is around Vesper, and moments after I logged in a horse spawned right by my house. I hardly ever see horses around the beach, and it made me curious.

When a character is unmounted it seems like the chance of 5th level spell summon creature to summon a horse goes up. I'm not entirely sure, of course, but it seems this way. I'm curious if, by any chance, a horse spawn might operate in the same fashion ;P? I wonder if anyone on the team would know at this point.

You're probably exerpiencing a bit of confirmation bias/illusory correlation. UO lends itself to that quite often. You notice you're not mounted so you notice the summoned horse more often. As for creature spawn, it's based more on the roll on the Creature Table for that specific Spawn Egg. Outside forces such as player characters have no effect on what creatures spawn. Player houses will block spawns or partial spawns from occurring though.

Perhaps. I do believe there is a "falling tree in the forest" situation in which a spawn can and will be triggered by the presence of a character. An exact type of spawn from a tabled spawn? Probably not.

For all of the years I've owned the house near Vesper beach I have never heard nor seen a horse that close to the beach, nor have I ever seen one spawn. It's usually a sewer rat, headless, and rarely a troll. I imagine the monsters roll on their own table, while the horse is an outlier of what would more commonly spawn by the inn. But it's such a small sample, the few minutes, even hours, logged into one's house.

This much is true. Portions of the game that have no player character in the area or in range go inactive to save server CPU cycles. I believe only in the Stygian Abyss dungeons does this not apply.
