Im Legend smith with high smith talisman on me. I tried to repair a wepon, that was down to 37/159 durability. When I finally managed to repair it - it was 127 durability. I failed 32 times in a row...!!!!

That's impressive, The most I've ever failed to repair a weapon at 100.0 smithing, was twice.... but it was 0/250-ish.

gotta watch out for the RNG.... it's brutal (in all aspects of this game) :sad2:.

a fully fed character is a happy RNG character!

Talisman only increases craft chance. A plus-skill hammer would increase repair chance (but I think it would use a charge).

Your smithy was stoned? I can't believe that... If he were - he'd have gotten it on maybe the 3rd try, tops....

Voodoo's half-right! Eating wouldn't have helped (that's an old UO urban legend), but Mandrake's smith would have had the munchies. ;)

Yep.

It's pretty ridiculous.

The Devs want to wear your gear down so you can keep making it over and have to farm more resources to build a new suit. This is their great idea about how to keep you playing and keep subscriptions active.

I'm about ready to break my keyboard when I see Legendary Blacksmith (or even Grandmaster) and fail repairing an item. Think of the caliber of skill required to become a "Grandmaster" let alone Legendary and still fail over and over.

I'd rather have it eat up 5 in Durabilty and succeed every time than have it fail at legendary and lose 1 durability.

We should never...ever...fail at Grandmaster.

While were on the subject of repairs....

Why the #$% can't I go to the local NPC Tailor/Tinker/Smith/Carpenter to get my repairs done via the NPC (minus the repair deeds that always fail).

Every time I want repairs I have to search all over for repair deeds OR log out one character and log in with another...only to fail.

I got NEWS. No one is making money off repair deeds. Sure the repair deeds are a nice added feature but we should be able to get our repairs done at an NPC shop via some sort of context menu.

Bring back "You repair the item without weakening it" please. In real life a smith or tailor should be able to add some material (cost: ingots or leather) to make the item more durable than it was before.

or is that just what they want you to think.....

because at a meet up the question was asked and a slight smile and wink was the response.

Which is supposed to mean what? Which "meet up" on what date, who was asked the question, and has that person said anything concrete? You don't know. I won't even bother speculating.

sounds like someone needs a Midol today.
Funny how such a comment from me would get a "timeout" for a few days. In any case, my question is a clear one: which UO representative? What meeting on what date? And even if what you claim did happen, just what are a wink and a smile supposed to mean, besides the interpretation you'd like?

The plain fact is that for many years, Devs have confirmed that food makes no difference to magery success. It might have made things interesting, but it was never programmed in. So please stop spreading that old urban legend.

Finally, don't be so sure you don't know me.

I had heard that repairing myself vs making a repair deed and using the deed that the deed works with much better results.

I don't know..I never use my smith to repair it's always a hassle to drop off armor switch characters and then repair drop it off switch characters again..so I just buy a 2x120 repair deeds usually take 1-2 tries..unless of course I'm on my red then I'm forced to switch toons..even worse when it's myomere character I have to switch to a blue go buy a few then switch back..I prefer we reopen Brit forge for business with let's say..a 100% repair chance at 120 in in that zone ahh nostalgia always gets the best of me!
