Idea for new doom system

While I appreciate your obvious effort and time to come up with such an idea, I respectfully think this is not the way to bring new life to Doom.

This game scares many new players off due to its complexity. Adding more complex armor options to an already overwhelming system which most players don't even fully use (ex. Refinements) - I just don't see it helping our player base or intriguing current players. Just my 2 cents. Very well thought out system tho.

Sounds like a huge headache for the code mages. They just need to have random arti gear that drops as any of the current wear/hold items. All races covered by the gear chances. Yes to an updated critter hurdles.

The gear has one mod that comes from the reforging tables of random intensity. Mix in random chance that one mod is random 5-20 points of skill from ANY skill. I would like to see a shield that could have 20 arms lore on it. A ring with 15 lumberjacking. Even dragon scale gloves with 10 vet. Some of the gear could also have a rare random chance of 50 points more imbue cap over their spawned exception cap. Not the reduced loot cap.

If they are not going to correct the fact the artificer tool cannot be earned in game. Then at least have the balls to put gear in the game that will require a boost in sales of the tool.

Why would they want to mess up a good thing like DOOM? It hasn't been touched in 10 years why start now? It's a shame they let things sit around and not update them for a decade................

I agree it would be a headache..and next to nearly impossible for them to undertake such a task given the current state of bodies..just wanted to get some creative juices flowing on ideas of things that "could" be awesome..I often like to think out loud and undertake the task for myself..for other uses..

Props on the ingenuity cazador, but imo the only thing I want to see rolled out globally to any & all peerless or major boss infrastructure would incorporate the Blackthorn Minax Artifact turnin point system of things. Specifically for Doom they could remove the random 'real' artifact drops & place it with Cursed Doom Artifacts. The ones that used to drop off of the Red Magincia Invasion Spawn years back, & before that the Ophidian Berzerker Knights down in Terathan Keep. Increase the drop rate of the Cursed Doom Artifact spawn per boss kill in the mini rooms, then plant an npc in hidden npc room of Doom for turning in for points with the selection of the 'real' Doom Artifacts that you want. The same process I would like to be see done with Covetous Just replace the real drops with the Ephimeral versions of the Cora Artifacts, & increase the drop rate of the Ephimeral artifacts, then allow them to be used as turnin points to buy the real version Artifact of what you want off of The Cora npc in the City of Cove.

Definitely an interesting Idea, I don't think so much for an addition to DOOM, but something like this would be cool somewhere else, could even be similar to the whetstone from shame... just farmed in a different dungeon, or maybe a "Whetstone" could be one of the ingredients to create such a thing.

Btw, a Major Artifact is considered higher quality than a Greater Artifact.

I do like the idea of upgrading artifacts though, This part I could see added to Doom, and other areas where certain artifacts are obtainable (minors mostly)...

Like turn in 2 Ornaments of the Magician for 1 with +3 MR along with the original properties.
Basically allow players to upgrade the original artifacts to that of the faction ones.

you know, since factions are broken and are planned to be scrapped anyway....

I'd rather see imbuing get fixed so that we can just make the armor and weapons and jewelry we want with no randomness and no trying for years and years to get that Ornament of the Musician and instead getting a dozen of the Broken Longsword of Virtuous Wimpiness.

What exactly does "smarter AI" mean? How would such a fight against a "smart-MOB" look like?
Like the MOBs with the blackthorn city invasions..or something that can adapt..say it's being tanked it throws out some close range damage. Random situational abilities, to make it harder to min/max your damage output on to it..a mob doesn't have to have 500k HP to be challenging..look at how dumb some of the AI is in the game.. Example "Baracoon" stands still while you pummel it for 200-290 damage..exciting

I would like to see artifacts drop exactly as they do now using a point system from upgraded bosses. I would have the artifacts drop with one mod and one mod only, but at 150% of the current base value. The artifact will have 255/255 durability. In other words give a ring that drops with 25 HCI alone or a bracelet with FC 2 alone or a leather tunic with 30 LRC for examples. These artifacts would be imbuable with a cap of 100 more than the current (i.e. 600 for a ring/brace or armor piece, 700 for a 2h weapon, 550 for a shield). That would make for some nice and useful artifacts from a revamped Doom.

Maybe I shouldn't be giving the developers any ideas, but the blackthorn captains are delightfully smart in some ways (like seeing you through the walls of houses and coming in after you - that was great fun the first time I had that happen) and quite stupid in others. Like almost all monsters, they can't resist a challenge; click on their health bar when in war mode or fire an arrow at them and they generally can't resist coming after you - alone. Same as the guardians in T hunts - divide and conquer. Seems only assassins have enough sense to stay hidden in the middle of a mob once their health gets below 20 percent or so. If they ever made it where these monsters learned to stick together and not come after you alone (i.e, kiting), our life would be much harder - and I'm not necessarily voting for that change. I do agree that challenging (fun) means having to use some strategy to defeat an enemy, not just pounding away for 30 minutes until their HP are gone.

LOVE the Artifice Enchantment idea. To be honest something like this should be what the armor revamp was. Not the refinements we got in the end. This is far more useful and easier to understand. Great idea :)
