Yet surprisingly the DEV's wonder why we all get sick of the grind and quit UO.
Do I think we should get whatever we want on a silver platter..... NO.... but I do think our persistence ought to pay off a LOT More than it does.

You know that's complete bullcrap. The drop chance doesn't change, regardless of how often you do it. It's just statistics, but it doesn't guarantee you anything.650 Medusa runs in how many days.... that's the problem your going to have. You can't break up the time you farm Medusa or else say you do 25 Medusa 1 day... well another guy comes in does 25... <--- he gets the slither you don't. You do 25 the next day... get nothing the other guy does 25 <--- gets a slither.
You break up the time between you farming it, it decreases your chances of getting one. The more medusa spawn you can do back to back the better your chances will be at getting the low chance that it has to drop it.

I always go for the challange, and if there is a "drop" Woow super nice, else i DID it, and thats usually enough for me

I stopped at 80 medusas without a drop. Solo 80 of them takes a few mins! I didn't get a drop either lolI dont think u did 650 medusas, u did 65 with ten different characters...meaning ten characters are getting close to that roll. I did about 100 until I got mine, a friend of mine has done 650 or so (actual with one account) and has gotten around 7...2 in a row once, I dont think it is broken, I think you just misunderstood the system

or at least a point system you could see in a menu -- where you can see your chance increaseI have done alot of the different bosses in the dungeons and such and have had times when you get squat but let one guy go do one kill so I can take a break and wam he get what you worked hours to get in 1 kill.... is it fair... no.
Dev will say its the RoT... but is it? honestly spending 3 to 5 hours doing bosses to get nothing then the next guy to come along they get not just 1 but a few of the boss high end loot right off the bat seems so unfair.
What we need is sort of a ducket system.... kill a boss get a coin or ticket to turn in for what you want.... it would be a hell of alot more fair in the long run .. might even be incentive to keep players in the game. Make the ducket soulbound or on the characters menu as sort of like the loyalty thing.

1 to 200.For some reason I think they nerfed the drop rate too much.. because as I said, normally the drop is 1 in 200 -- and yet after 1 in 650, no drop.. there was a separation in days.. but we ran a several more, even though we weren't counting, because we are running eggs as we get a couple of sets.
Urban legend? Most probably from someone, who felt treated unfair by the RNG.I think there's code that makes it more likely to get a drop if you solo the boss - my personal opinion from watching how the drops seem to happen - I think the chance for a drop is damage based
with 10 people, you're spreading out the damage so much that noone's gonna get anything - that's your main problem
Now we all know where OUR slithers went..hrmph..I got all this in..... hell I don't know how many runs, probably around 1.2-1.5k runs of medusa...

17 Slithers, 29 Venoms, 32 floor tiles, and I'm not so sure about statues, but I know I need about 102-103 more statues to finish lining the roof of my castle.
in the end I had many many more, (47-50) slithers when I stopped farming for them. down to 7 now =X.
think it was around 7 minutes per kill, farming the eggs takes Far more time than killing it.Now we all know where OUR slithers went..hrmph..

Since the release of Stygian Abyss I've probably done nearly 500 medusa (I stopped counting after 300). About 1/2 of those were with 2 or 3 characters and I've also never gotten a Slither. In addition I think maybe only 3 times has someone gotten the drop while I was there. I like to experience everything in UO and see it as a challenge to try to 'earn' at least every nice artie in the game but this grind is getting very old. I've been frustrated with it for at least a year. I probably have done about the same amount of Mels but have gotten 12+ Crimsons. *shrugs*

The more people that run medusa's and other boss monsters the more frequently they drop, the more common they are around the servers... If only a few groups are doing them instead of 20% of say the population, their will be a huge difference on drop rates.
This has been a most discouraging thread for anybody with limited time considering soloing harder bosses. This, and Nusair ("I did over 5,000 Lady Melisande's before I got my first Crimson. I've done over 2,000 Medusa's and haven't received one of her special items. Killed over 1,000 Slashers.... nada.... ") How in the world did NuSair do that many boss runs? I can't even comprehend it. And then with no results? Maybe I should stick with miasmas and T maps and blackthorn captains. I did get a tangle off Navery in less than 10 tries one night with a group, so I guess I was lucky. I think the lesson here is not to tax yourself too much, because it probably won't pay off anyway, just do what is fun for you and tackle the hard stuff when a group is available to have some fun with.Okay as far as probability goes its, 80,000 chances will get you a slither.
