new publish brings lag monster to all w coast shards

Weirdness...... I've been farming paragons for a good part of the night. I'm pinging from 50 to 100ms.

Me too! I thought it was just me! Pac, Sonoma, Baja, Napa & lake Austin are totally unplayable. 1600's ms... Now in the daytime it is normal for me, 78 or so. Not at night. All other shards are the same as they were at night. Just those 5 are not playable.
Before the last publish it was okay, now not. I use Time Warner roadrunner.

Same for me! I usually ping around 33...but lately the pings dont show up for the shards mentioned. I can play on Siege and other shards just fine. Not sure what is causing it, but very aggravated with it. I should mention that it is not all the time, just certain times of the afternoon (PST for me). Tonight I am in game and all is fine, but this afternoon I couldn't even move.

My ping rate is running on all those shards around 1000ms... Running great on servers on the other side of the planet.
Using tracert for me it is just after hop server 159.153.192.234 (an ea.com server) from that point on it times out.

There are no EA.COM servers anymore. We moved to the cloud years ago. I guess the PING RNG loves because I PING to all West Coast Shards at 16ms.
Have had issue since the end of last week. East coast servers 50 to 70 ms west coast as high as 1200 with packet loss for majority of prime time. Very irritating to say the least. Sad to say misery loves company .
Welp it is 4:47 pm PST and I am still pinging at 16ms to west coast shards.

It is all in your head.... There is no lag. Do not look at the man behind the curtain.
Those having issues can you please provide exact information on what shard is having the issue, what time lag occurred, duration of lag period, traceroute to the server during the time period, and any other useful information.

It has happened since the last patch/publish whatever. Taking me about 3-4 minutes to load the character/house once clicking log in, and then taking a good 2-3 minutes before I can 'walk' or move. Once I am walking it lags for at least another 5 mins then tends to 'clear' up although is still laggy in comparison to before the patch/publish. I clicked on my house sign to see what storage I had and found the sign just wouldn't come up at all. I waited a good 5 minutes then logged out in frustration. Tried again later and again house sign/menu just will NOT come up. This is Oceania shard. It started to happen after the 'supposed' fix for lag, prior to that I didn't have any.
When logging in I don't even GET the latency numbers, they remain blank, I use the EC, prior to the patch/publish I would get red or green gems and pinged to Oceania was anywhere from 33 -99 ms. When putting my cursor where the latency gems should be I get (0ms) next to every shard name.
Forgotten how to run a traceroute from the 'run' command, and forget the server address to search for for Oceania anyways.

Bleak - Thanks for the link. Data point for morning of 17 Dec 13 ~ 7AM PST (which is fine). Hopefully, someone else experiencing the issue in the evening can run another trace. I'll be on business travel for a good portion of remainder of this week (unable to log in to the actual game), but I'll run one when I get back in the evening if it is still an issue.

Happened again tonight right on cue. This marks the 4th consecutive night I have been unable to play the game. It is fine during the day but I don't have a lot of time during the day.

Wouldn't it make sense to use the same data from when it happened 4 months ago. I would be willing to bet it is the same or at least similar issue.

I am 30 miles north of Redwood City and run comcast all the way. Love it that they moved it all back up here from LA.
good news on my end at least it seems to have cleared up what ever the problem was it reminde me of the castle courtyard lag issue but seems to have cleared up now phew...

I'm fine here. It might not be a patch issue. It might be bad weather moving through the west coast sort of issue which is interfering with a one of the hubs you guys pass through to get to the west coast shards.
I just tried to log into UO for the first time in almost 2 months to collect my xmas gifts, when I got to the log in screen I saw pings ranging from 570-975 on every shard. I think the lowest ping was on TC1. And this is with my "new and fancy" computer.
Did you let is cycle a few times to see if it would drop or did you just jump on here to post ASAP?
Unless you are from the future we moved to the cloud at the end of last year and the beginning of THIS year. lol
All it did was cause a number of problems that didn't exist before:
Longer wait to switch characters.
Remember that Atlantic 2 week revert that was caused when they migrated the server and it got corrupted?
Casting recall and going nowhere for awhile then the recall going through later.
Frequency of "Cannot communicate with Origin" went waaaaay up.
Severe latency issues.
Black screen on logging in.
Sound looping and client freezing on logging in.
If you must know I actually logged in, got my gift, tried to run around and look for a fight, couldn't move, and promptly logged off.
Is that okay with you, or do you not like it because someone is posting negative FACTS about UO.
I think it's also when UOA, on the first client boot, started throwing my game window into the top left (I have it perfectly centered) of a restored window of that size, instead of maximized. There's some really, really slow communication going on there.
