I have 90 taming, animal lore, Vet and wanted to know what kind of jewelery and what stats do I need to get those skills up to 120 so I can use a greater dragon for farming and pvm when I am not raising my skills Also I will need a suit that with LRC so I dont need to carry reagents around. PLease let me know, and sorry for noob question I am still kind of new. Thanks guys...

I get by just fine with raising it to GM and then using jewels and don't forget the Birds of Britannia Totem... it has 5 I think Taming and Lore or some such.... so that's 10 you don't need on your jewels ....

I do recommend raising up to GM at least one thing you should know is if you get near a bard who discords you can lose your pet if you aren't careful.

As for the LRC suit I also recommend that as well keep you out of trouble.

I would suggest actually playing the game and building the skills you want to use before using a Mythic token to make things easy. You will never have a viable character if you don't know how to use the skills that you have.
I agree it takes time to get to know your character.... Tamers are high end...

You need a powerscroll to raise your skill cap to 120, then you may use the imbued items.

Intresting...
Since noone answered the question i will :)
To control you're GD, You need 110 taming, 110 animal lore.
As suggested by others, you might wanna visit the taming forum, thats where all the experts are :)

I don't bother with 120 VET. I just run 100 and can res my pet ok. Speaking of which what's the minimum skill needed to res a pet? (greater dragon) is it less than 100 as if so I will drop my vet even more.

You want +15 taming and +15 lore on each jewel. Don't really need 120 vet imo. If your at 90 of all the skills already I would just bump the taming up using jewels and then let lore and vet raise naturally. Taming sucks to train so this would be the only stat I would run on the jewels.

As for a suit just try and get 100 LRC and 40 LMC then mana regen would be handy. Try and hit all 70's resists (pretty easy these days) and maybe consider bumping the physical resist to 84 if your be running the protection spell. Also if you are an Elf you can have 75 energy resist.

I did the same, got a mythic token to make my tamer. Kind of cheating but it let me jump straight into the action.

Both my ring and bracelet are the same:

+15 taming
10% SDI
1 Faster Casting
3 Faster Cast Recovery

Lore is easy to gain so I agree with DJAd... don't need to really waste a whole lot on that though at first you may want a set of 15 taming lore and vet on Jewels as having 120 all even on jewels gets you the max pet slots in the stables. Now that don't matter if you are just going to have a greater dragon and be done...... but some of us like having multiple pets. Runebeetle/Bake combo can be nice, and if you want a 5 ostard pack having the full slots in the stables is a must. Anymore there are just so many pets and combinations you can have it makes it very hard on a true tamer to decide exactly what to keep since there are limited slots.

If you are going for pure power though don't bother with having a Reptalon or Skree since they are pretty much just show pets they honestly stink as anything really "good"..... haven't really found much use for they other than pure novelty. Kinda like having a pretty colored Hiryu..... no one uses them anymore because they are slow and just don't have enough HP to survive any of the newer bosses or dungeons. That's the problem with 99% of pets anymore.... The DEV's are great at uping the monsters and making them more "challenging" for the new warriors and such but the only pet currently that can really survive or is worth their weight at EM events or with any of the new content is the Greater Dragon.... anything else won't survive long enough for you to vet them.... Besides that YOU won't survive long enough to stay near any pet long enough to actually Vet so make sure you have 2/6 casting and a REALLY good Mana pool or extreme MR or your pet will be dead in short order as you won't be able to heal them fast enough to keep them alive.

If you are just going to PvP with a pet then other combinations of pets might be more effective however since Dread Warhorses no longer spawn and are totally unavailable you may just want to forget that idea as the Dread is far too expensive for the average joe to afford...... unless you have extremely generous friends. Oh and Bane Dragons are a very pale comparison to the Dread Warhorse... nice try DEV's but the pet is almost as lame as a Reptalon.... almost as annoying as a Greater as far as blocking views of what's going on and slow and weak. A Dread is far faster and not as much of a block when it comes to seeing what the pet is after. If they had made the Skree worth it's 4 slots then more folk might use that (a far smaller less annoying pet) at EM events and such but since it totally sucks as a pet for doing damage and such afraid we are stuck using the BIG as life Greater Dragon. Honestly I don't think a Skree has any business being more than a glorified 2 slot pet.

Taming a million polar bears/great harts teaches you how to play the game?
Where does he say that? He doesnt .. youre just making an incorrect assumption.

Whereas you might tame all sorts of beasts in varying quantaties to reach your goal, in between training you can break the monotony by going out and hunting with pets appropriate to your skill level. It can be as much or more fun even than going high end. Thats where you learn your trade as a tamer.

Oh, and to all those who say 100 is sufficient in vet/lore/taming ... I guess it is if youre happy being a Sunday morning tamer. Real tamers go 120.

Sorry, but you're deluded if you think any significant quantity of people go hunting with a bunch of harts, mongbats and cougars as they're training the skill. Taming, along with many other skills, is only useful at the highest levels if you want to kill anything more challenging than lizardmen so people generally powergame up to that standard or do so with jewellery to play the real game.

In any event, assuming that isn't the case for a moment, killing lizardman with polar bears doesn't teach you anything about actual end-game encounters so the point is moot. What Titans1 and you describe is what /should/ happen ideally; I absolutely won't dispute that. It just doesn't for a variety of reasons, such as the skill gain system being rather archaic and uninspiring, a lack of meaningful mobs to kill with weak low-end pets that do not result in meaningful progress for your character through taming gains and most players being veterans these days who'd rather buy a mystic token than put themselves through the monotonous grind that they know lies ahead.

If there was a quest (even a once-a-day repeatable one) that asks you to tame X mob (let's for the sake of argument say an ostard, but this would vary depending on your skill level at the time) and kill Y number of monsters which would be challenging for the pet and your general skill levels (10x imps, perhaps in a specific place too such as Blood Dungeon) which will reward 5.0 taming skill when you turn it in this would encourage more actual play and learning than the system we have now and make some of the most grindy skills a whole lot less boring and repetitive to train. It would give less reason to want to use scripts or other types of automation too, since actually playing the game would be quicker.

Another ill thought our rant from you.

Skill gain is faster at lower levels. No one suggested hunting with mongbats ... again just you making wrongful assumptions. Do you actually think before you type? You can however have a lot of fun hunting with 'lower end' pets. By lower end I mean ones that you can tame and control from 70 upwards. its not all about the 'end content'. Too many people here are only interested in that end content and forget there is actually a game in the middle of it all. Youre obvuiously one of those that would just add 120 taming to your 'cart' and buy it from EA if you could. No one ever wants to actually play the game any more. Its all about getting to the end. Sad.

Because the game provides little reason to. That was my entire point.

Well, I think that says a lot more about you than the game itself. there are many players who get a lot from all aspects of the game at all levels. You just arent lucky enough to be one of them.
