As someone with a fully stocked Atlantic Luna vendor that rarely shows up on the 3rd party sites, maybe once every week or two while others are updated every 10 mins, I beg to differ that it isn't a problem that needed a solution.

Hmmmm not always. Lets say for example somebody sells an item on Stratics and leaves it on a vendor for another player to pickup. By opting out of search it stops other people being able to buy it before the intended player.

Exactly or say your vendor is mostly for guildies or newbs and you don't want some resaler buying up all your stock for new people to get cheaply and reselling it at high prices you can opt out and then the reseller won't have such an easy time finding your vendor as newbs do... that you give runes to..... make sense?

Personally, I'm giving Bonnie the benefit of the doubt.... I know she wants it and we've seen references in the code. I also am certain that when it finally goes live - Bonnie wants it to be both worthy and solid.
By now I'm sure she wishes she hadn't uttered any reference to time frame, but she did. She wants to make it work for the economy, but also has the task of making it as non-exploitative as she can.... Let's give her a bit longer before the wolves come out, ok?

Actually I've never really had vendors but friends who do have turned in runes a dozen times or more yet their vendors are still NOT on the site so I don't want to hear about how it is.... because it's a lie... I'm told it's because we are RPers and we are mean...

The site will probably refresh itself more than the UO one will (which will probably only do server up/down). The UO system will also probably be buggy for a few months after launch. The site also has live reps that you can talk to pretty easily to resolve any troubles you may have.
Also, since this site has been around for like 8 YEARS (way to catch up devs!) I'll probably just stick to it out of habit and trust in its smooth functioning. That's just me personally.

Th vendor search and functionality is a great addition to UO and benefits ALL players in so many ways.

No more Luna dominance over the UO economy and we can see a return to the mom and pop just like the good old days of old.

The site runs on a script. No one is looking at vendor results, buying the good stuff, and then publishing a refreshed vendor list. Great idea though .

The site already takes non luna houses too so I think your theory of prices plummeting is pretty off. Luna is conveniently located around a bank and moongate, hard to beat that.

Location is almost meaningless when the in-game system appears to allow you to teleport to the shop and back again.

Unless there are hooks built into the new search system that a third party can use for data mining, this theory is complete BS. From the spoiler thread its fairly obvious that you search for items, not a "show me everything on every vendor RIGHT NOW." Third party sites would need to be constantly searching for every item to have current prices, that kind of system load should be easy to track.

If hooks are built into the system, it would expose a level of corruption that would have made GM Darwin blush. I'm fairly confident this won't be the case.

If something like this goes in, and doesn't fall apart at the last moment....3 things.

1 - Luna will survive. It's still the most convenient spot for browsing -- for shopping when you don't really know what you are looking for. Also as a general bank-sitting, merchant-ing location. Luna vendors will still be valuable to have just not as and not in the same way.

2 - The search sites will survive. They offer a proven interface (imagine the bugs this new search will have for the first month...2 months....), have loyal customers, and offer additional services beyond the vendor searching.

3 - Based on what we've seen it doesn't seem likely that the search sites will be able effectively to use the new search for their data. If they do then, to be blunt, what difference does it make? Then the search sites survive and have data for every vendor as opposed to just Luna and a few others places. And those who don't want to use the 3rd party solution don't have to. And if the 3rd party sites have the kind of connection that could let them collect all that data in some other manner, then they'd be doing it already.

In the CC you can script almost everything. So yeah, most probably.
But if I want to sell an item, why should I care, if wether average joe or a reseller is buying it?
I just want the gold. That's why I'm selling after all...

Right now if I want to sell something I advertise it in general chat for a few minutes once in a while. Needless to say, that I sell almost nothing. This system will be a huge improvement and will make having a vendor feasible and profitable, without having to put a lot of effort into it (I rather like to play the game instead to mark and drop runes to my shop everywhere)

There are half a dozen shards I would like to search together, when I'm looking for something important enough to use transfer tokens. Still, I suppose the new system would let me log on each shard in turn, no big deal.
