Beyond 12x Base Damage

While I have seen extensive discussion of the melee damage increase and the damage modifier calculations, I am curious to know if anyone has actually seen, in the game, that they do melee damage beyond the DI and the damage modifier caps (in other words, beyond 12x). For example, if I have a weapon that does max 10 points of damage, per the calculations my maximum is 120 points damage (10 x 3 x 4) possible to any creature. Has anyone every experienced a time where they have gone beyond 12x their maximum base damage?

If so, how did you go about transcending the caps?

(My apologies if this has been covered before, though I could not find any such thread).

Well... For sure it's possible to put creatures into NEGATIVE resist values using Discordance assuming the creature has a resist less than 28 (120 Disco is -28 resist to non 160 barding difficulty) etc..

Negative resist with disco -- that makes sense. And so, I suppose also then that using Consecrate Weapon against Ice Ogre (who may have negative fire resist) would apply as well.

One particular thing I am wondering, but have not yet verified in-game, is whether any one who has had a critical hit with Bushido's Lightning Strike has ever transcended the 12x cap. I have an Archer with a runed driftwood bow (weapon damage 17 - 21) and so the max damage is 21 X 12 = 252. I have several times battled that named Balron near the Ilshenar Chaos moongate and have gotten very close to 252 using Lightning Strike. Since my typical damage against the Balron, without Lightning Strike, is around 60 points, I can't figure out if a critical hit with LS is causing me to simply ignore the monster's resists, or if it is providing to me bonuses even beyond the 12x base damage.

Lightning Strikes have a 20% chance to deliver a critical hit if your 120 Bushido... a Critical hit means it INGORES a monsters resists and does FULL damage.. This isn't the same as an Armor Ignore bc that special move only does 90% of your base damage while ignoring resists. I only mentioned the NEGATIVE resist thing bc that will exceed the "12x" as well as things like Evil Omen & I'm sure there's a few other things but they escape me atm.

Without Lumberjack you can get 296.25 DI. Lumberjack gives you 30 or 100 DI. So you will have +396.25 DI for some hits.

This means with 16-19 axe you can do up to 288 damage against 0 resists. Some monsters have negative resistance. For example, Fire Daemons in Abyss. So you can do over 300 damage without discordance. With Discordance and Double Strike you probably can do 750 damage with one (double) hit.

Thanks, CorwinXX. Doing 750 melee damage would be awesome.

Another thought that I had was Bushido's Momentum Strike against the 2nd target. If the second target receives a 100% damage bonus, would that exceed the 12x damage cap? Or is Momentum Strike still subject to all caps?

I suppose I also have the same question about the Bushido bonus with Whirlwind Attack.

Thanks.
