Warning - Pets Unbonding

Just a note to let you know when fighting BARDS in this invasion your pet can UNBOND.

Nearly lost a dread warhorse. One minute it was 'wonderfully happy' the next it stopped following commands and went wild. Luckily we were on a boat so the horse wasn't getting damaged and it was able to be instantly re-tamed and taken to the stable.

Must be due to the tamer being in discord or something. Either way, just be aware.

cheers MissE

I've seen some strange behavior from my pets when fighting the bards too. Luckily nothing that severe. They just seem to want to wander off (perhaps that is against the mystics, now that I think about it). But bards I know I've had trouble controlling them after discord. I should bring some +30 jewels just in case.

The last statement is it. It is the fact that you as the tamer are discorded. It takes your taming and lore skill below the required control level, and every command you issue causes the loyalty to decrease by one lvl, until they go wild on you. They go wild pretty quick if you mash down a command key, :(

Aye, when mystics cast their slow I have to re-attack my target. If your pet is wandering off it most likely just stopped attacking it's target because of this.

Good idea with the jewels ;) I'd suggest all tamers go over their cap with +skill jewels to make sure they can control their pets while discorded.

Dreads and banes do require a high amount of skill to control at the best of times, so they will be more susceptible to a sudden drop in loyalty. Fortunately they're mounts, so if you get a refused command and the pet isn't wild, you can mount them and ride away till the disco wears off. But I personally wouldn't take a dread out unless I had 99% real control normally and some jewels to boost up if I got disco'd. Even then, with bard NPCs I don't think a rare pet like this is a good idea when they can't be replaced.

With a dread actually going wild it's worth double-checking your control. At one time there was a calculator which wasn't giving the correct control chance % for dreads. The Stratics one always worked, but I know some tamers had checked their control chance and been given the wrong answer. You need 112+ in tame and lore to have 99% on a dread. Some believed 110 was enough, but at that level you only have 87.4% control. Check your skill here to be sure, or try different skill combos of lore and taming. You probably do have enough, but I would rather tamers double-check than risk losing a valuable pet.

Jewels should help you, if you have 99% control without them, they'd give you a replacement. But please check you really do have enough skill - get discorded without a pet and then check your remaining skill is enough.

If you can't control a pet and need to pull it out of a fight, recall somewhere else in town. I mark safe spots and use those, so I can break the discordance, vet my pet back up and then get back into battle quickly. It just saves you giving a command as the pet should be beside you after recall. You can mark inside a building to avoid the pet wandering (or running) back into a fight. Just don't ever repeat commands if you fail one. Keep a good supply of pet food with you and use it, but check the loyalty is back at wonderfully happy before you issue the next command. Sometimes it's hard to hear a refused command noise over the spawn. Be careful you don't land a lot of spawn on some innocent bystander by recalling though, it's never cool to dump a ton of spawn without giving warning first.

I'm doing ok so far with the invasion but my tamer is 120 skill and using her greater...*mumble* so I haven't had a huge problem with bards. But I don't try commands when I'm discorded. I just heal and vet. If my pet wanders off for a coffee I just cast on the bard myself. I must say I did think my greater was a bit "I don't give a crap about your troubles," but during this invasion I swear he takes delight in it.

When discorded the tamer will lack the taming to mount their pet.

Once discorded the tamer should immediately walk out of range until disco ends.

Invis works just as good.

Also, I maybe spoiling something here (so forgive me if they change it)- but, as long as I am only healing my pet, I do not get discorded. Once the bard gets into WoD range, I will WoD, Invis, wait for Disco to go away if I got hit by it, WoD again, Invis, ect.

Every time we fight a Bard all I do is call up my skill gump and watch the bottom line. If it drops then I am discorded and stop givings commands. This is basic 101 Taming that a lot of players forget in the heat of battle.

This should be self explaining, as the tamer get discoed - his skills get lowered to below the required skill.

You will be fine as long you DO NOT command your pet. If you need to command it, hide or invis till the disco is off.

If not, it will be as posted - your pet's loyalty will drop by one for every command you try till it goes wild.

You are %100 right but I have seen many Tamers during the event forgetting this simple 101 Taming Rule. When fighting Bards I have YELLED out many times "STOP TELLING PETS WHAT TO DO WHILE U R DISCORDED"

What are they trying to command, anyway? The only reason I'd command a pet is to call it over, which is too unreliable even when not discorded, and too slow. If a pet's in trouble, I'll run off a ways and use a summoning ball, or better yet, recall out.

TY For teaching me so well about Taming and to always remember to check your pet over every time it will not listen.

Aww, you just made me grin from ear to ear there Frodo, always good to be appreciated :)

Think I've seen tamers try to call pets and yeah, kill commands. Oh and when they're around the lighthouse and they get stuck, couple of us had to intervene so one tamer recalled with the pet rather than continue with commands. Fortunately her drag was still wonderfully happy and oblivious to the lighthouse landing on his tail.

I didn't lose a pet, I am 120 across the board, but when fighting a bard it drops your skills like in factions for stat loss (down to 80s ) and then no pets will take your commands.
I sit on the side lines for the Bards.

I hate to sound like an ass...but....

Any tamer that repeatedly tells it's pet to do something while they discorded, DESERVES to lose that pet.

Wouldn't be great if they added an icon in the game that let you know your discorded. An icon that might let you know it is better to control your hotkey mashing FTW. An what mage tamer doesn't have an invis self hotkey? Hello! It is called a pack of hell hounds. Most tamers don't know to use a pack five like a handfull of grenades and not throwning knives.

Well... not sure about the EC, because I've not been discorded each month when I load it up and try to play it.

But, in the CC, there is a huge spam going up the side of the screen of all your skills going down....

Well when we are talking about pets, anyone else agrees that its a bit annoying that your per dont follow you after it has eaten on the lighthouse. My soulution is to if lucky find a target to get it to attack or else let it attack me with a nice all stop quickly. And then an inviss and we are all happy to move along.
