What templates are you having success with for the invasions? Also what weapons are you using with what mods

I spent a fair bit of time with my normal thrower, wraith thrower, and dabbled with my sampire. None had the results I hope for. I turned to my Necro-Mage for the sure hit of each spell. But I am a warrior at heart and want to have the most effective warrior possible. How are you all able to tank (or not)? Short of using bag balls (approved by Mesanna), I need a means to stay alive while holding the captains still. I'm not satisfied with my damage output nor miss rate even with 30 HLD, 45 HCI, and 120 weapon skill. I am thinking of making a soul glance specific for this event with 50 HLD, 50 HML, 50 HSL, 30 SSI, and 40 DI (need to check imbuing values, but you get the ideas).

I was also pondering whether I should dust off my stone form mystic dexxer and see how he does. His damage output is low, but without slayer vulnerability of the captains it may not matter. He can take a beating.

Looking for thoughts. I'm trying to improve my Minax Artie drop rate which has been fairly poor as compared to others up to this point.

For soloing the spawn/captains, I have found my thrower to be the best for me. My template is simple. Throwing, Tactics, Anatomy, Bushido, Chivalry and Resist all at 120. It really helps if you can honor the captains as they have no slayer. My suit is 70's (almost curse proof 80's in fire and poison), 55LMC (stone armor), 190 stam, 45 SSI (with divine furry for 1.5 swing speed), 4/6 casting (I LOVE chiv with this), 45 HCI, 50 EP, With potions I have 150 STR, 60 INT and 150 DEX (150 HP, 105 Mana, 190 stam) , 14 HPR, 30 HLD, 100 DI, Leeches on weapon and a few odd ball stuff (i.e. 2MR). On a side note, I run this template a lot and I will switch out resist for healing if my target mob suits this move.

Don't you find you miss a lot with your thrower? I was disappointed with 45 HCI, 30 HLD, and 120 Throwing. It seems like i missed 50% of the time and leeches next to no mana.

I did not seem to miss any more than I did with a swordsman. I did not have a mana issue (the 55LMC really helps), I seemed to leech enough to alternate AI and lightning strike continuously and keep my buffs/heals up.

Swordsman and some other masters have parry. I'm not sure about numbers but probably they block 30-40% of hits. When they block you loose honor and don't apply HLD. When HLD expires you miss even more. I believe 80-100% HLD could help.

It takes me 12-15 minutes to kill mellee master. And I have never got perfection (I have 60 bushido only).

I have found that having 50 HLD on the weapon and 30 on glasses (gives 65 HLD effectively) is enough for me. I have made a weapon specifically for the captains with 50 HLD on it. You could try to reforge a 70HLD weapon giving 79 effective with glasses.

For a melee char I would recommended
120 sword
120 bushido
100 parry
120 chivalry
100 anatomy
100 tactics
90 healing

Bladed staff
100 HLL
75 HML
50 HLD
50 HSL
50 DI

P.S. I usually honor captain when there are 1-2 minions left.

My favored paladin also should be good (but I still haven't crafted new suit for him):
120 mace
120 tactics
120 anatomy
120 chivalry
120 parry
120 resists
4/6 casting, 12 mr
100 HML/100 HLL disc mace

I am running the following template:

120 Mace
120 Tactics
120 Anatomy
120 Parry
115 healing (need to get a 120 scroll still)
106 Chivalry (still training up to 120. This one takes long...)

I am using a shield, those new luck warrior jewellery and the following weapons:

100% Energy diamond mace
30 SSI
62 HML
50 Hit Lightning
5 HCI
40 DI

And today I started using this:
100% Fire Hammer pick
30 SSI
62 HML
50 Hit fireball
30 HSL (Due to the captain high damage output, you will often find yourself with low stamina)
40 DI

Armour:
30 HLD
41 Stam inc
25 Dex inc
10 int
18 Str inc
8 HPR
4 MR
6 Stam regen
45 DCI
40 HCI
45 LMC (5 metal parts)
10 SSI
400 luck
All 70s

With all that, I have 190 stam, 30 mana (enough for my needs), and 40 SSI. I usually swing at 1.25 down to 150 stam with those two weapons.
May sound a bit of overkill, but since they hit you really hard, you will be losing stam fast.

Can't solo the captains easily due to their high damage output, but this one worked pretty good for tanking when I had other people in the group.
Damage output was quite consistent with EoO. Hit mana leech was bringing enough mana back to use special attacks often.

Not the best template or gear out there, but it was working pretty good.

This event has been fun for the limited time that I have been able to play, and I have acquired 10 minors so far from my swordsman. I am currently using
my sammy but I think its time to drop Necro for some thing else, due to the lack of damage that I'm acquiring from my weapons. I'm ok if a couple of greater
dragons are tanking the captains, but one on one its pretty difficult to keep the health points up. Died a few times over the past coupl of days, but that adds
to the excitement, you really have to be on your toes when your next to the mobs and meleeing them.

My current set up is

60 parrying
120 sword
120 tactics
120 Bushido
81 chivary
99 Necro
120 resist

Currently swtiched from a two handed weapon to a one handed weapon so that I can use greater heal potions, which have saved me many time.
I also use close wounds from chivary and confidence (special move bushido skill which is really handy) So with those and potions of have three
ways to heal (provided I still have mana to use).

Stats are

148 str (149 hp)
143 dex (175 stam)
24 int (64 mana)

Have like 39 lmc i think the max is 40 or did they change it?

So trying to figure out changing necro out and use another skill in its place maybe meditation for mana regen. Any thoughts?

Oh and my biggest accomplishment was dueling a bone demon last night which was still around long after the tower was destroyed. It was just
me and it and a 15 round boxing round (took 45 to 50 minutes) and I was redlined 2 or 3 times. The thing kept healing itself, I found jousting,
bleed special move and HLA and HLD helped alot. I ran out of greater heals and my mana pool was my biggest problem. Any one else try to solo
one of these with a warrior set up and how did it go for you and what was your skiills etc?

Actual LMC is capped at 40 like it has always been. By this I mean, if you put 50 or 60 LMC on your character, it is still only 40 and will display 40 in your Health Bar. Additional inherited LMC from armor stacks on top of the 40. By this I mean, a plate armor piece will give you an additional 1 LMC per piece and studded armor will give you an additional 3 LMC per piece for a combined total of 5 pieces. This is how you can get 45 (plate) or 55 (studded) LMC suits now. This additional inherited LMC will display in your health bar.

Actual benefit from LMC only works in 5 LMC increments. By this I mean, any LMC between 40-44 will be the same reduction in mana cost. Likewise, 45-49 or 50-54 is the same.

Where this becomes critical, is if you have a real tight suit and knowing that the additional imbuing weight of a couple LMC points might not be of any benefit where as the additional weight could be put into another area. By this I mean, there is no benefit to imbue LMC where you end up with anything other than, 40, 45, 50 etc.

Thanks, Katrena

Hi Katrena thank you for your post concerning LMC and how you can acquire more from the new changes made with some armour. I am currently using the woodland armour parts which give me the benifit of DI and HCI on my armour, this probably has no LMC bonus added to it. I seem to remember from a long time
ago about the LMC being rounded off by groups of 5.
Necro skill (vamp embrace) has some benifits but also some real negatives when used. I just re read the skill on stratics again and with these mobs you need
some thing with larger heal capabilities, and a way to raise your mana quickly. Not sure if you can med through woodland armour unless you made it mage armour. Trying to add alot more MR and changing things around would be a pain to do, I think i have like 6 MR atm. Have to test med and see how it works maybe, its easy to train. Thx again for your info :)

If you want to have mana regen, put in focus instead of meditation.
It regains mana slower than meditation, but it works regardless of your type of armour, and it refreshes stamina faster as well.

Yup focus was the option I was leaning towards, and may remove magic resist and keep vamp. A lot of possibilities so I'm going to test out things and see how things goes. Would like to be able to tank a little better
and still stay alive in the process.

I see that one of the biggest problem is stamina loss.

Some invasion mobs hits really hard = huge stamina loss.

Curses also drops your dexterity= less stamina.

Here is some ideas for prevent stamina loss:

1) Vampire forms (= 15 SR)
2) Use "Divine fury"-spell often
3) Heavy armours (Plate, chain or ringmail) for reduced staminaloss
4) HSL on weapon
5) Focus

If you got items 1,2,3 well.. you can even drop HSL on weapon for example for HLD or HLA.
(You might need HLD on weapon if you run luck suit without mace glasses)

Additional tip:

Try get SSI 35 and weapon with speed 3.25 and 180+ stamina...
So you can keep max swing speed even if your stamina drops on 150 (Spells and hard hitting mobs).

Yes one of the nice things about vamp is Stamina Regen and some mana regen, if I add focus may help some more. I made a Katana last night which has armour ignore and was able to hit for as much as 45 which was a lot beter then the 10 to 15 I was getting with other special moves. Plus helps when your trying to leech more mana and health back. I still keep a double axe in my back pack against mobs for the whirlwind special move.

I also went from using a two handed weapon to one handed weapon for two reasons, they swing faster, but more important I can use a potion faster (greater heals and greater refresh).

45 with armor ignore? I am getting between 75 to 106 with it when using EoO.
Perhaps you may have to consider increasing chiv up to at least 100 to benefit more from EoO?
Considering how much we miss against these guys, honor is really hard to build up, and thus not reliable enough to increase one's damage.

Well update this mourning I went with and played around some more and was able to get up to 120 once now. I'm still learning the ropes, its been a long time since I have had the urge to play my tank again. Having a great time actually, the items are fun to acquire but its more the challenge of just going toe to toe
with this current scenario. Going to try removing magic resist and necro for healing/anat and raise chivarly a bit. Thx

I do 45 without any special moves.

There are 2 masters have block, 2 masters return damage. Against other masters you can build perfection and do 200 damage per shot.

When people are busy damaging beacon it's a good time to solo a master and get a guaranteed artifact.

I noticed were playing the same shard, I'm usually on latter due to the 5/6 hour time differance and Russia more like 7/8 hours. Anyway if you see a player
named Lanthore that's my warrior. I will say at times things go pretty quickly esp when all of a sudden two captains appear and start attacking you, died twice
last night due to that. Fun times.

I might be a little late here, but I made a whammie thrower at 1st and found that in many cases i was doing the same thing my sampire might do. I'm very competent and confident with Night Shift, my sampire from Pacific, so I decided to give it a go. Granted I only fight the (in order of preference) Wizards, Rogues, Mystics, Archers and Fencers *if in guarded area to 'dispel' the mirrors*. Generally I kill each captain and it's spawn in about 10min or less (outside of demon spawn eff that). In most cases I kill captains before raiders/leechers can find me and WoD them for a chance at the loot. The whammie was slow moving and had to get in and out of form to move around quickly and killed my karma with all the changing and cursing of weapon. As far as I know, on my shard anyway, I obtain drops faster than anyone else and do it all solo. My biggest piece of advice is to honor the captains as you are taking out the minions. No honor = move on to something else.

120 Swords (double axe for minions and 100% fire bladed staff for captains)
120 bushido
120 parry
100 anatomy (100 resist on stone for other activities)
99 necro
90 tactics
71 chiv

Elf with all 70's and 50 DCI cap/41 lmc/20 ssi w/o wep-40-50 ssi w/wep/45 HCI/100 DI w/wep/50 HSL/62 HML/50 HLA/30 HLD
150 HP/65 Mana/175 Stam
MR 12

Other notes: I use a trapped box, invis pots macro in EC that drops my 2-handed weps and re-quips them after i drink the pot, and teleport scrolls for certain situations

Good luck!
