Question for you lumberjacks out there....

Hey all you lumberjacks... Got a couple of questions for you:

1) If a tree gives Oak or Ash or Heartwood, can that same tree give Bloodwood - in that same chopping session? I mean, can I stop chopping a tree as soon as I see that it has Oak or Ash (when I'm only looking for Bloodwood)?

2) Are the special resources like the fungi (or the crystal shards in Ter Mur) tied to "higher trees" or are those completely rng?

I mean, can I stop chopping a tree as soon as I see that it has Oak or Ash (when I'm only looking for Bloodwood)? A tree will give reg. wood or a tree will give reg. wood and only one other type, not two.

2) Are the special resources like the fungi (or the crystal shards in Ter Mur) tied to "higher trees" or are those completely rng? It is all in the RNG.

1. Each tree (or in mining each vein) has a chance of randomly re-rolling which resource it gives every time it respawns. So if you're looking for Bloodwood and a tree gives Ash/Oak/etc, then yes you can stop chopping the tree for now, but you may wish to revisit the tree from time to time as respawning occurs in case it does change into Bloodwood.

2. Special resources are randomly generated each chop regardless of tree/resource type so long as you have the required skill level to harvest that resource.

Sorry if I wasn't more explicit.... Didn't intend to start any linguistic slap-arounds...

So, let me rephrase my question:

If I am chopping a tree, and that tree gives Oak or Ash or Heartwood - is it possible for that tree to still contain Frostwood or Bloodwood (after one of those 3 shows up on that tree and before there is no more wood on that tree at this time).
Not leaving and coming back later, chopping till the tree is empty...

Or, how about this:
Can a tree contain Ash or Oak or Heartwood and still contain Bloodwood or Frostwood - at the same time?

Or:
If I start chopping a tree and I get one of those 1st 3 (above), can I move on to the next tree knowing that I was not going to get Frostwood or Bloodwood off it. (Yes, I know that it can hold different stuff in the future)...

No, each resource "node" (tree/vein) can only have two resource types in a single spawn... The Base type (Normal Wood/Iron Ore) and the Rarer type. You won't have two non-Normal/Iron out of the same node in the same spawn (unless you upgrade a mining vein with a Prospector's Tool and/or use a Gargoyle Pick... I don't THINK they've added like tools for Lumberjacks though.

If you chop and get Oak, you will not get Bloodwood or any other type during THAT specific spawn and can move on. If you're getting more than one of the rarer types, then you're probably hitting two trees (which can happen if you use TargetByResource in the EC as it targets by area and not by specific tree).

Hope that helps.

As stated in post #2, NO.

Your question was answered in post 2. If you want bloodwood then go to every tree and deplete it to force a refresh. Then you need it to have multiple depletion events in a short time interval to get it to respawn the wood type. I don't remember what the time interval needs to be it may be something like within 15 minutes. When you find a tree that gives bloodwood don't deplete it all the way, but take enough wood to leave the last harvest. However, if someone else comes along and takes that last bloodwood harvest before it fills back up then the wood type could change.

Cycle through a small area in ter mur and make all the trees in the area respawn the wood type repeatedly until it cycles the type you want. If you had enough people gathered in a small area depleting the trees theoretically could make a bloodwood forest.

You seem to be arguing that you answered this in post #2, but then again you edited out what you said in post #2.

Thank all 3 of you for the responses....
Have a great day!
