Do you know something we don't, Petra?just remember 'hope' is not a fixed promise and things don't always work out the way people plan.....
Well well well......... i made a post about this a few months back and it got locked??? LOL....[whatever]May be i am wrong, but wasn´t there a statement from Mesanna at start of this year, that the vendor search would come by this time?
Are there any updates on this?
Thank you kindly for more information...
I don't even see why we need it..spam the bank like the old days..drop runes..open gates!! If you have a good vendor house people will shop there! Keep it stocked with items that everyone needs and you'll be fine..nm the fact we already have a site that does a good job getting all the luna vendors plus tokuno and any rune given to them in trammel facet..so why waste dev hours for something that probably won't even be as good as that, when there are gameplay things that should be fixed or tweaked first..or heck new content..but yay! Vendor search!!! As if you couldn't do it already...I'd rather the in-game store come first.
Talk to the owners..get the RmT off the site..pay them for making a working vendor search, steal the code make it official and call it a daylol is ea will be another 6 months then a link too existing ones lol, they will just say legit
lol look diablo real money legit trade killed gameTalk to the owners..get the RmT off the site..pay them for making a working vendor search, steal the code make it official and call it a day
I feel your post needs one more set of quotes for "security issues"... *pictures Dr. Evil*I just "hope" doesn't mean "we hope to get get MYUO running again" and that "hope" turns into security issues..and a producer letter 6-8 months later shatters those "hope"s..
Right now, the search sites are very useful. The funny thing is most frequented vendors--and heavily scripted areas--are either in Luna or Makota; we are just lazy at this point.More reliable than what?
More reliable than either that account management site, or the Origin store, both of which are sanctioned by EA. If something as overthought and needlessly complicated as those are any example of what is coming, Id rather they spend the coding time upgrading overland spawn loot, and tmap loot (shame anyone) and more interesting things for the turn in points. Seriously, the <site that cant be mentioned>, I am told, does a good job. Im not a big fan of RL $$ purchases in the game, hence the reason I don't have an undertaker staff or any of that. But the searches are good. If the unofficial partnership is working, don't break it!More reliable than what?
Adding that (assuming they haven't already) would be trivial coding.... A simple sort of the data that is already there. dB 101If a dev is reading.
I'd love the ability to search for the "highest priced" items on a shard and the "lowest priced" items on a shard.
If you could add that to the search parameters you are creating it would be GREATLY appreciated.

They are possible and look decent, 'other' shards have had Gen Chat/Guild Chat/Faction Chat/Party Chat/Ally Chat/PMs windows..for years now. Who knows maybe it's coded WAY different :/Anyway... I think this is very possible. Just like I feel that hot bars and multiple chat windows are possible in the CC as well. And tells... ect...

Hey NuSair... Pretty much everything you've said here is accurate, but far from any kind of serious obstacle. The problem, if I remember correctly, is that the data is in flat files, not a database. Which, really isn't that big of an obstacle (which I have posted about before). It really isn't that hard converting a flat file to a data base. I do it all the time for my text based football sim leagues.
Here are the problems as I see them.
It's a flat file.
It's in the 'cloud' (that is really a rather large issue)
Server load
I can see bots set up to continuously scan for under priced items. That kind of server load would lag the game.
IMO, the game needs to save and use a separate server for the database search. And honestly, there isn't a reason that the back up/save couldn't be an almost live copy. I've worked on several super mainframes where the back up and the back up of the back up were essentially live copies.
Having it in the cloud is essentially a shared hosting environment. Meaning there are other things on the same servers as UO. Meaning that lag isn't always UOs fault (other than the poor judgement that moved UO to the cloud).
Anyway... I think this is very possible....
I believe UO workers will cost approx. between $5,- and $5000,- per hour, very earthly US $. That might be an obstacle.Bottom line: No earthly reason to NOT do this.
Just sayin....
I wouldn't trust those 3rd party sites, as far as I can throw my pc........I'll leave it at that.Just going to go ahead and say it. The 3rd party sites are more reliable in both the ability to make a purchase, as well as being able to find what you need in game. This isn't an endorsement, and is obviously not going to be a popular stance, but it is the truth.
