NEWS Governor and Duchess of New Magincia Has Her Claws Out !

I think a few things need to be cleared up about the governor program.

It's not about items or getting "stuff" for anyone. The governors can make proposals to the King who forwards them on to Mesanna, minor things not huge city-changing construction projects. Right now, the "stuff" we've been "promised" is the governors' offices in the nine cities. The building of these offices, much to the governors' chagrin turns out to be the ONE proposal request that can be made per term. Unfortunately for us, this new rule wasn't made public till after building materials were submitted. Remember, Mesanna is one woman trying to support all the EM events AND this new program, things aren't going to spring up overnight no matter how annoyingly we whine. It's not ideal, but it is what it is.

In fact, incessantly whining at these meetings is only going to cause continued problems and overall dissatisfaction. If you read the fourth council log (from Friday 9/20/13), a few people took it upon themselves to repeatedly ask (read: grief) the same question of the EM playing Blackthorn regardless of the fact that received the same answer again and again. One of these people was a former governor who'd never brought up this issue before during the three meetings he attended.

Miss Kitty's bobblehead dig at the other governors is rather tacky and dishonorable, especially since all but four are brand new to the position. They, however, appear to understand the current direction of the governor program: that it is 100% RP (as stated by EMs and the dev Kyronix). While it would be nice, in my opinion, for the governors to be able to do more directly for their city, this somehow appears to be an unpopular opinion and talking about the faults of this program and how it could be improved is now forbidden on Stratics (see the locked "So what did your governor accomplish" thread for more). Hopefully things will change in the future, hopefully the governors won't have to solely rely on ever shifting EM "rules"/whims and Mesanna's ever dwindling time.

Just to be crystal clear here, the GL RP community isn't thrilled with the program as it stands. The lack of clear rules/guidelines, clear goals, and clear parameters for what governors can do besides sit there and RP is rubbing most of us the wrong way. We just aren't going to grief the meetings and annoy the EMs into leaving as quickly as they can, that won't do ANY of us (or the program) any good.

If the implication is that there absolutely definitely has to be more to the system than "sit[ting] there and RP[ing]," then I guess I'm not one of the "most of us" among the roleplayers.

I like the thought of an in-game system where I can interact directly with the King of the Realm and think that's really quite neat all by itself.

I think the initial article violates both item A, item B, and item C of the Stratics TOS.

As listed by Stratics...

B. Help build the Community.
The success of our forums depends upon the quality posts of our participants. We are proud of the success of our forums and give our thanks to those who have chosen to make our forums their out-of-game home. C. Personal attacks are prohibited.
This specifically means any text/post that is blatantly attacking another person on or off the forum, especially in a personal way.

Correct, but then you already knew this.

Like I've said before, the RP is fine, but the system as stated during the 15th Anniversary party, was meant to be more. Right now, it just caters to the RPers and pretty much leaves everyone not interested in RP out in the cold. Someone could very easily use the dreaded 'favoritism' word to describe this, if only it weren't for the fact that the "interact[ion] directly with the King of the Realm" has been extremely passive and almost entirely unidirectional (players -> EMs).

Consider me personally annoyed by the whole situation. I tried to handle it OOC without giving the EMs a headache in game by participating in a discussion on Stratics. Believe me the current Governors feel the other players' pain. We want players to get the reasonable city upgrades they request, but as Dot noted above, we have been told to shut it and the topic is now off limits on Stratics. Hilarious that the people who didn't harass the EM at the meeting are the ones being told to shut it whereas the only Governor griefing the EM gets a front page article to attack people.

The article was written because the Governor of New Magincia contacted me personally and I sat in on the meeting she held in Zento last night. I felt as though the article defined things for the readers that did not attend the meeting last week, also directing them to the minutes posted on the boards to get the entire grasp of things. I felt as though it was important for people to understand the power or lack of power governors have so if they decide to run for the position in the future they are not disappointed and they are clear as to what it actually is. Information, even if one does not like it, can only help us understand.
Aside from giving information I try to make the read also entertaining so people actual take the time to read New posts.

My long, very long history as a GL New Reporter is something I take seriously and I have always welcomed people to contact me for possible articles, interviews, player run events, ect. If I am in town I attend everything I can ( rarely on Lady Lava but on other toons ).

p.s. I happen to have a bobble head in my car and love it :)

Pssst... you might want to look up what bobblehead means when used in an insulting nature. It's not nice and very demeaning towards the women roleplaying on the Council such as Willa, Dot, Tanda, and Alista. Check out the urban dictionary.

I only use The Random House College Dictionary, revised edition signed by Jess Stein himself. A Urban Dictionary does not interest me.

Ah... so I see.. the rules regarding personal insults and attacks only applies when Stratics wants it to.
