Ok.... So maybe the title of the thread isn't clear, but I'm desperately in need of a good house remodel & Organization & I would like to see how other people go about it. So Far here's the type of things that I know I will be including..

1) Mannequins For Templates that aren't currently equipped on a character. I usually included a locked down container in front of the mannequin with a book detailing the exact skills and all the equipment bc I inevitable grab stuff like LT. Sashes and Slithers off to use and forget to put them back.

2) My own little Resource Garden... Fountains of life / Garden Beds Just so I have a continuous supply of those particular items..

3) Shame loot in Stacked paragon Chests dyed whatever color floats my boat

4) Artifacts... I usually break this down into Weapons / Armor / Sheilds / Jewelry - Earrings / Clothing Items

5) A Resource area including all I will need .. Materials / Forge / Small Soul Forge.... I actually like to keep all my imbuing ingredients in either long gift boxes or Secret Chests just because of the larger inside allows me to see stuff..

Anyway.. That's just off the top of my head but if anyone has some other great ideas feel free! Include pics if you want. I don't do the Deco thing though so displaying Rares or making a park outta my house etc is not for me. I will go Function over form, but Tasteful Form is nice too heh. Thanks

I usually keep a line of chests along a wall in the order my characters appear when logging in.

I use lots of engraved chests, often with other engraved containers inside them, to keep things in order.

My characters own homes on several shards that I share with a couple of guildmates or friends. Each person has their own little room or corner with a couple of chests for storing their own prized possessions or supplies and then there is a common area (or two, depending on the house's footprint) where the items anyone might need to use are located.

Below is a list of how I usually label the chests for these common areas and one way that I've set them up to be easily accessible while crafting or while unloading after doing some PvM hunting. Stacks 1-6, in this case, are located on the west wall of the room and stacks 7-13 are along the north wall. I used to use wooden chests in the same stacks as everything else for basic crafting supplies and then decided to use the short cabinets and footlocker as shown below because they have a larger surface and it's easier for me to slide and drop stacks of wood, leather, etc. on them and make sure they end up in the intended container.

That's a good arrangement - what size house is that? Looks to be about a 16xY?

Put your stuff in labeled containers and place a container with resources near work areas.

aside from the enhanced client *cough* I tend to craft the leather container engraving tool (tailor made) and label all the bags in my color-coded chests. Prior to the tool, I would just dye bags for whatever...
most time, black (or darkest color can dye) would be for smithing
white (or lightest color to dye) would be special things (rares, etc.) and white chests are perfect for that
green = tailoring
brown = lumberjack
purple = spellcraft

tends to work for me that way. :)

This is what mine would look like...and in the past, they have. haha.

The last one I had that was a custom was completely bare, in terms of deco. It had pots, my soulstone near the middle, and some other crap. It went IDOC, along with the soulstone probably going poof (oh well); when I returned in '07, I made it a small tower and did the same thing - just threw all the crap I deemed important on the first floor, locked it down, then went back out and killed either some people or monsters.

My future setup will probably just be a few chests:

1) Consumables (bandies), trans powder, bags of sending, my 3-4 pet balls, maybe some potion kegs & empty bottles.
2) Loot, with 3 bags: Dungeon loot, Artifacts, garbage for disposal.

If I had any more than that, they'd be for gold storage (I'm a bit of a packrat, but I'm also capable of living out of a small house, lol)

That's the center room of a castle (on Balhae). The pictures below show how I have the crafting/storage areas set up in my other homes. You'll notice that in one of the houses on Siege, there's no soul forge in the picture. That's because it's on the third floor of the house, even though my crafter there usually does imbuing on the 1st floor where the imbuing resources are stored.

Ahh. Very nice. That's a lot more storage than I'll ever need, but I always wanted to have a castle for the fun of it.

Nope. At the moment, the surface of my workstation has my laptop, the cable company's modem, two backup drives, a laminator, a photo album, two skeins of yarn, some crochet hooks, a coffee cup, a mouse pad, a mouse and way too many cords of various types all sharing the desk surface. There's a bunch of computer, photography, gardening, medical and anatomy reference books, reference books for making educational materials for my disabled grandson, a shortwave radio, a pencil holder, a diffuser, and a wacky toy bird my grandson made on the top shelf of the workstation. The other shelves of the workstation hold CD/DVD storage containers, a big box of laminating pouches, lots of colored paper in various weights, and a few files in folders. And the printer, UPS, and network router are sitting on a file cabinet nearby. It's not neat at all, but it's close to all my other RL crafting and photography materials and reference books and my sewing desk. And there's a nice big wooden rocking chair close by for the grandkids to curl up in and an electronic keyboard to mess around on. The only disadvantage to all of it is that it's in the basement and it's hard sometimes to not worry about what would happen to it all if we had any major flooding here in town. We were really lucky to escape the problems that hit a lot of other people here in Colorado a week ago.

Yeah, I didn't have one for many years, until a guildmate placed one for me on Sonoma. Earlier this year, someone showed me where to place one on Origin and after I gave up on trying to have a crafter's shop in Luna on Balhae, I decided to relocate outside of Luna and couldn't resist placing another castle when I found a nice empty spot. I suspect that if the population hadn't dropped as much as it has on most shards, I still wouldn't own one either, let alone three of them. If there's ever a shard merger, I'm sure I'd lose out in favor of someone else who's more on the ball and more dedicated to UO. At this point, I'm kinda just hanging on by a thread waiting to see how some things go over the next couple of months. If it wasn't such a pain in the neck to pack stuff up on Siege with the one character per account limit, I suspect I might well have been gone by now. However, I just don't have the time right now to sort all my junk (literally) on Siege and figure out what's worth saving and what's worth trying to stuff in a bank box or beetles. So I keep stalling and paying to keep houses up all over and dinking around for a few minutes at a time every so often and waiting for news to help me decide what to do. It feels like a huge waste of money for the amount of time that I actually play, but it's just too hard to give up right now and walk away.

What I would suggest is you let us know what you seem to have the most of, what constitutes the most lockdowns. Like for example, if you have four chests full of unsorted shame loot x 125 items, maybe you refine your selection process.

I get stuck not knowing what to do with old items, rares, event items and the like, versus usable items. Like no one would ever buy "a scroll," but I hate the idea of getting rid of old items that remind me of old times. But eventually--when I see nice turn in items--those poor ID wands go to the trash, etc. ;).

Old "Power," "Vanq"--not the old, old, ones, the Brit Invasion ones--are an example of something I should probably just throw away, but I keep them...just in case? lol
