Need Housing Help, please

The problem:

Char A owns a house on Legends. The account has several grandfathered houses on other shards. If Char A transfers to another shard, and Char B (same account) takes ownership of the house by clicking the sign, does that set the grandfathred houses into decay? Or is it only when the house changes accounts, and not owners? Help please!

Houses are owned by the account, period. The character who places (or accepts via trade) them gets the name on the sign, but that is as far as any actual character association goes.

So different characters can take possession, as long as they are the same account, right? Just wanting to be real clear about this

Characters on the same account can't "take possession".... every character on that account already owns the house.

How sure are you about this statement, grandfathered houses are a lot different, each character on that account has his name on one of the houses.

I meant the account I have that has 6 grandfathered houses, not "that" account as referring to Uriah. Tried to edit but it wouldn't let me.
Each house on my account has a different character name on the house sign.

And there is the rub, I can't find anything definitive on this anywhere Ive looked. It does make sense, but keep in mind we are talking UO...

During that time it was one house per char so you had to place with different chars , hence the different names. Then the grandfathering and account based ownership was brought in . then the houses became owned by the account not individual chars. therefore each grandfathered house is now owned by all the chars on the account reguardless of the name on the house sign

when you leave the shard that house will still belong to that character.
the house owner does not have to be on the shard where the house he placed and owns is.
ive got a castle on sonoma on my guy and i havnt been there in years with him, yet his name is still on the sign.
and it didnt effect any other houses on that account on that shard either.

in further thinking a i know a guild mate of mine (and retired Mod from here) has the same thing, he has a account with 4 houses all on different shards and he X-shards all over with one of the house owners and it hasnt done anything to the houses either.

so that is 2 that havnt had any problems.

Merus and Becca are correct. With all characters on the same account now being full owners, you don't have to worry about which character is the owner. Just don't transfer any of the houses to another account! Originally "grandfathered" meant anything but the main house, and you could transfer a single grandfathered house without affecting the rest, while transferring the main would set the others to decay (then you'd have to find accounts to hold them individually). Nowadays I'm not sure what's going on, because my main house is labeled "grandfathered," so all my grandfathered houses stay put.

Just do not place or try to resize any grandfathered houses as that will throw all of them
Into a decay status. You can take the house owner to any shard, just do NOT do the above.

I cannot see why you would move that grandfathered house to another acc. If you leave the shard, make a new char there - and move to house. And you can CO who ever you want. And still have the house on a grandfathered acc. And a free acc to place any new house on. I would NEVER move a grandfathered house out of its brotherhood.
