Being able to create a singular name that can be shown across all of your characters even in chat would be awesome. That way I know who I'm talking to even when they swap toons.

It would have to be set up from your master account and it should be unique, no other master accounts should be able to choose it. Not sure it would be possible, but I like the idea.

I think that's over complicating it. I agree with it being unique though. I think that if it's possible to know all the characters on an account for housing purposes it should be possible for this. And there is already the title menu.
The account login can just be a suggestion and not a rule. And I only intended it for one account and it's 6/7 characters on a shard. But if it can go to multiple accounts that can be a bonus.

Sorry but I see no reason for this. Do you know how many names UO would have to come up with to do what you are asking and once a name has been used it can never be used again. And then we come to the part of UO putting a name with say Frodo, yes I have a char named Frodo, and then that name would be put with all my other chars on every shad. Talk about messing up every name people have thought up. Why not just have UO assign a name to your account. You are now George and your name will be (Shard) George-1, (Shard) George-2. Sorry but IMHO this is a dumb idea.
Yeah, you have to come up with one name per master account. One ea master accout can hold up to 10 UO accounts. So if you're not paying for more than 10 UO accounts, you have to come upo with one single, unique name. Wow, pretty hard, eh?
And who is saying, you have to touch your character names? As far as I understood it, it's just an account name, which will be displayed next to your toon name...
Problem is, UO doesn't know anything about ea master accounts. It still just knows UO accounts. As long as you can't log in with your master account, this won't change, I'd say. So basically you would have to choose one unique name for your master account, which then gets propagated to each UO account (where it isn't unique anymore, since one master acc can hold several uo accs, but as long as you can't enter a name specifically for each uo account, this shouldn't matter).
Basically a good idea. The only problem I see is, that this would give guild thieves hard times...
I HATE playing games where your login name is your "main" in-game name. There are more out there than you think....
Also.... if it's a title... you could I don't know... Turn it off maybe?
I'd just like to know when a friend is on, regardless of character. UO is still active enough that I can't remember every person's multitude of characters. I don't want to tell some dude off for begging for gold and come to find out it's the same player that gave me 1 million a week ago on another toon.

It is also the reason people name their chars with very different names and different sexes. With your idea that all goes out the window. Sorry but I hate this idea as it takes away having different chars with different personalities. We all RP one way or another.
Then just turn it off like you would a title?
So everybody turns off this and all you have done is wasted a lot of Dev time for a useless feature. I YOU want everybody to know who you are then why don't you just name all your chars the same and stop wasting Dev time with useless ideas.

So I guess the rest of the player base does not think this is a good idea or they would have just named all their chars the same. Maybe after you have played UO longer than this will no longer be a problem for you.

If such a thing is implemented, there needs to be an opt-out. I don't want everyone knowing who all my characters are.
