*Brigand camps* "Are they underrated"

Nobody really talks about brigand camps with the shame loot they drop..I killed a brigand the other day and noticed they dropped shame loot..seems like maybe I just don't pay attention or am too busy just running by them because in a group they can really surprise you with their strength..anyways with that being said I have an odd question for anyone whose actually farmed them..what tier loot table do you think they fall under? I've received some pretty cool stuff from them..

A lot more "clean" items with min/max intensity..

Not the most OMG super leet items but still what I consider quite nice..

Are they not talked about or did I just happen to get lucky?

Positive feedback? I positively wish you'd not said this right now since I'm brewing up an event idea that makes use of the brigand camp, for reasons connected to both town loyalty and people getting the 'shame level loot' and if people read this they may start raiding the place before I get my idea sorted out...

Was it a normal brigand camp or one with raiders? I knew before that raiders have shame generated loot but theres a difference between fighting brigands and raiders.

LoL... You mean 80% right? I don't know a single person that plays UO personally that doesn't read Stratics Regularly. I've heard of a few though and it was always a language barrier thing. Unless your talking Free Shards which don't count imo.

If Stratics represented 80% of the player base UO would have died years ago.

Or we'd literally have one person running defrag on the servers.

As others have pointed out, these actually are Raiders spawning at the Brigand Camp near the Brit/Yew/Skara Crossroads. (Nearby the Sanctuary entrance, right?)

Their loot is indeed quite respectable and the fighting fun.

If more had realized that we might've had a higher participation rate when they were being spawned inside the towns.

Come on... Stratics has basically been the official UO forums for what like 10 YEARS ? How many people do you know in game that don't read here eh?

About 80% of the guys I play with out of about 25-30 between shards never read here..have 2-3 accounts each and log in do some PvP logout login rework a template or suit log out..you'd be very surprised how little of the population actually posts/read stratics..

Actually I think you'd be surprised at how MUCH of the population does read stratics... I've been around for 16 years now and it's ALWAYS been the place for info. I mean if you goole

I didnt use stratics untill a few years ago. I checked it maybe a few times a year for info. Vets, people have done every aspect of the game retire to stratics, or the hard core uo "gamer" but overall, simply game content keeps the casual gamer occupied for a number of years.
Im not talking about rares collectors, UO trade merchants, or anyone who plays UO daily of course. Im talking about the majority of people who crowd luna during peak hours and on weekends who might play the game once a week. Why use stratics when your couple of hours of "gametime" is actually spent playing the game?
Rares is what brought me to the forums. before that, when i was busy pvping or killing monsters. My gametime was spent playing the game.
So i can totally accept the number of UO players who actually use stratics as being around 30 percent.

Another reason why i cant understand why the most important messeges to players arent put on the login screen.

Come to think of it, i think i joined stratics in 2008, and didnt start using the trade forums until maybe 6 months ago, didnt click once on UO hall untill maybe 3 months ago... And my first day of uo was almost 16 years ago now...

Yeah... GOOGLE Backs us up.. pretty much end Story IMO.... You can SAY they don't read stratics all day long but in the end it's THE best source of UO info & easily found so either they don't go ANYWHERE for UO info or odds are they go here.... People can complain about the DEV's posting important info only to stratics & not to the UO splash screen but honestly anyone trying to get to stratics will do so & if you don't care you don't care heh.

Perhaps derailed, but I noticed that on Europa, last two times I went by the camp today, it seemed to have many more dead brigands and raiders in it than the usual 'none' - so either there's a truly bizarre coincidence going on, or somebody saw this and went to have a look.... I'm betting on the second of those being the case

Imagine how much more busy the old Fel/Tram facets would be, if they added Shame loot to all the old monsters roaming there and added back some of the old random brigand, gypsy and orc spawn we lost long ago and don't forget the archers in the brigand spawn.

I know long ago, multi crafters was asking to get a lot spawn removed from overland but now where we have soulstones, that should not be a problem, leave a few crafting skills on stones and grap some magery, mystic or fighting skills.

Making the overland more useful, may be what we need to get more new players in UO

As we can already see, certain revamped dungeons are far more active and popular than others, it's going to be difficult but we have to aim for a wider spread of different but equally attractive hunting spots, be they above ground, underground, islands, or sub-planes reachable only through quests or special gates. There's been some sign we are headed in that direction with the dungeon revamps, but we are still very early in the process, despite it having been an ongoing change for a couple of years now. Resource means it'll be slow, but well worthwhile if they get the balance right.

I was thinking of spots like the Lich spawn at Yew. Some small spawn and loot like from the easy monsters in first level of shame. If the Lich at yew and in graveyard got shame loot, we also have some roaming water elements, some air elements, some orc and earth/dull and copper elements in the desert. We may not need a lot more spawn, just a little better loot on the ones we have.

Dungeons should mostly be for a little more skilled or small groups, the overland spawn would be great for younger players and players with bad connection.

I did not mean to make the overland to one big dungeon. mobs at the strength like the raiders should not be roaming the land, they are fine in places like back in the brigand camp.

I would like to see a single Lich Lord spawn in the center of the Yew Lich spawn and I would like to see a few more spawn of that kind, one between Cove and Vesper, one in the forest east of Britain. Also the Swamp and desert spawn need a little shame loot.

The Dark Wisps on Siege do need better loot too

I will probably almost instantly regret chiming into this thread, but speaking as someone who ran official boards for several of a company's games, it's absolutely true that this board -- or any board for that matter -- represents a small portion of the player base. Now, Stratics may be proportionally larger than some other boards given the size of UO's player base, but that doesn't change that it's only a portion.

And here's the fact that several of you will choose to ignore, but it is an industry-wide fact nonetheless: Most people playing any particular game simply log in and play the game. They don't go to forums to complain or websites looking for information. They. Just. Play.

And it doesn't matter if you're Ultima Online or World of Warcraft, the same holds true.
