recently my 2 daughters have started playing UO.
aged 10 and 12.
i left them alone, i wanted them to fumble about and get the feel for the game themselves without my 15.8 years of play tainting their perspective of the game.
they have been having a hoot playing.
they have been meeting people and having a blast.
i decided that i would finaly take them to my house.... which is in fel.

now i have been harping on the girls to NOT go to fel at all until they can go through an entire dungeon on their own and live.
which of course they are no where close to doing.

so there we where at my house and they where talking about how there was nothing to be scared of in fel, fel was neat, cool infact with all the gravestones.
they just where not getting it. They where running around outside, saying that they wanted to go to a fel dungeon.
so i told them that in fel they could be attacked by anyone.
they laughed at me, called me silly.
said they would heal and cast a blade spirit (remember when you owned the game with blade spirits?!!?!??!)
so i logged out and got my pvp nox fencer.

it was brutal.
you couldnt even blink and they where dead.
spasming uncontrollably and then mortaled...... meer seconds.
i looked over and they where both staring at their screen open mouthing in mute terror.

it was a lesson that had to be taught.
i took no joy in dispatching them.
*sigh*

i need to wash this blood off my hands....
maybe there is a recall miner somewhere in can work off some frustrations on....

Bring them to Siege, our world is much more friendly, some of our PK's even RP.

I remember, when I told my sons, was going red, back in 1998, they hated PK's and thought I was going crazy. They was 15 and 19 years old. A months later, they was red too :p

Sad lesson to have to teach them. I know the guild I am in we kill our own. Call it first blood... so those that are our enemies can not take first blood of our Squires. Seems cruel and odd but it is tradition. As a father you were just taking First Blood so that they would not be murdered by a stranger the first time..... makes sense to me.

You did the right thing sugar....
Children sometimes take the warnings we give with a great deal of salt and don't heed the warnings till its too late. This is true in the game world and in RL.
I am sure every parent out there has had their child blow them off when told of something they were not ready for.
Now teach them to handle your pvp master. Teach them to fight. And give them a hug.
Lessons in life I wish were this simple to give this great an example to our children. Life is full of pitfalls and many of us have hit them head on... In game death is not a big deal but put that in the real world...... enough said.
Glad to see your teaching them right sugar.

oh gosh. the cast time. lol...should have them fight changelings and work on mini heals and small spells. those kaze kemono are good too, hit hard like a dexxer and low end spells that disrupt (and an occasional ninja will pop up). general purpose PvM mages don't have a lot of PvM practice for a PvP dexxer. but I don't know, haha.

would be nice if blade spirits scaled health and resists a little better based on Magery, though ;P

After killing your kin which you are a caregiver to, you come to stratics to repent and are welcomed with open arms.

Well in his post he did say he warned them fully and they gave him  they know better...
Dad on the other hand was:sad3: for his daughters safety.
But we all know youth.. think they can rule the world.
Daddy though wanted to teach them Fel is no place for two kittens when full grown cats fear to tread.:scholar:
So he did the next best thing from taking away their computer time with pops.
So out came his evil self to show them that little kittens should listen to papa. :eyes:
:stretcher: and :stretcher: were shown listen to daddy and you don't get to go ooOOOOooOOOOOOooo to mommy.
Was he mean? ;) hell no
Lessons learned early save peace of mind later when they do go to fel without him.:gee:
Daddy cant be there all the time and well we all know what happens when we least expect things to happen:pie:
Sleep well knowing he gave his girls a real lesson in game and RL ... listen to your parents.. we been there way before you....:) we know how dangerous it can be...
Funny yes to us but to those 2 little girls daddy just gave them a spanking. To the girls : Be thankfull he cares to show you how dead wrong you were, and that it was on the computer not your bum.

My wife will never play Star Craft with me because of this exact same type of reason. Luckily now she is better at UO than I am. Maybe soon your daughters will be better than you as well and loaning you rare items and gold checks!
