Because I believe that you ought not have things no longer available. Rarity is only for people who want to get rich... The rest of the people who want to play and have fun and collect and fill their box shouldn't have to go without because some idiot thinks they have to have a "rare" and lets be totally honest here they aren't "that" rare.... Hell anyone who played then probably got 3 or 4... I know I had at least 4 .... Catering to the rares collectors is part of what is wrong with UO now..... it's part of what is in my opinion destroying the EM events and it's part of what makes people look for ways to dupe things..... and it's part of what makes people hack other peoples accounts. In my opinion it promotes BAD THINGS.
It also promotes resentment... and people getting upset about not being able to have things... making them think this game sucketh... and gives yet another excuse to quit. So I don't like it.

so playing the game and collecting the collectable stuff is a BAD THING.

my kids that just started playing should have 15 year vet rewards in their bank waiting for them.
we should all be rolling around with phat castles loaded to the rafters with every item in game?
so what should we strive for in game?
where is the incentive to out and do the hard stuff and get the cool rewards?
and how is not rehashing stuff that you could get for a YEAR catering to the rare collectors?
i did the event, i put the gears in my music box.
i look at it, i remember the event, i remember the fun time getting the books.
the current player who is the collector trying to fill HIS music box is the collector.
so you say we shouldn't cater to the collector yet you are saying we SHOULD do exactly that.
so collecting stuff is why items get duped.
its why accounts get hacked?

because that is some of the lamest stuff i have ever heard.
i have by far the nicest account in the game.
there is maybe one of Taz's that comes close to my main, but i have by far the biggest and best account in the game, yet in 15+ years i have never once been hacked, and i dont run anything for protection that you guys dont.
and duping?
really? so the big token duping incident, we got those in game at an event..... ya, ok.
no, one of the worst things the dev's ever did was bring up the old items and put them out at the corner store for everyone to have.
one of the biggest thing UO had going for it was the collecting of old stuff, and they killed it.
there was nothing funner then going into someones place and checking out the cool stuff they have collected over the years.
now i dont bother even looking at peoples places anymore, its all replica's and turn in rewards.
