Governor's Recognition?

So the first term of our city leadership is coming to an end in a couple weeks. I am curious if our Dev teams has considered some small memento for those who served in office this time and for future elections?

A small plaque? A sash? A token? I don't know... something small with the characters name, the city and the date?

Any other present or future governors have interest in something like this?

Not really... The Governor of New Mag on Pacific has about the same approval rating of congress.

Actually I think giving them anything at all would be a mistake. That would only encourage others to run just to "get something" and not really have interest in the community they are supposed to represent.

Actually being a Governor I'm fine having nothing other than a temporary title.

I totally agree with this... I did not run for Governor to receive a piece of pixel crack, it was about being a part of the game I love.

As a person who dabbles in collections I would have to give this a thumbs down on this idea, even though I know some of the items would eventually hit the market and possibly make it to my floor lol.

But I do think the Governor's should get some legacy type recognition....

I think a much better way of honoring those who "served" or are currently serving is to have a Hall of Statues in each city for that city's Governor's. Just a standard bust with that Governor's name and dates they served . For the sitting Gov. it would only have his/her beginning date obviously.

I'd like to be able to hold recall elections. One of my governors is a deadbeat and has not kept any of his campaign promises. (I foolishly believed him when he promised free item insurance if he were elected) Perhaps we could also have a "Hall of Shame" to remember governors who engaged in cronyism and general disregard of the voters who elected them to office.

I am big on shard specific history. The line of Governor's is something that should be kept up with on each shard imo.

Agreed, Kylie Kinslayer's idea would fit the situation nicely, it rewards the governor with an acknoledgment of his work without creating another item of value to be sold on.

I am not saying I agree with said whining, I am not saying there is not a strong case to be made for an official, and available in-game record to exist.

Just saying I'm betting even that would cause whining and conspiratorial, angry E-Mails to Mesanna and angry, conspiratorial posts on Stratics.

I can see how it'll go. "I was elected and a technical glitch gave it to this other one who is a total Trammie fraud." Anyone remember the controversy over the "most popular Stratics poster" contest many years ago?

Again, not saying this is a bad idea to keep a record on, say, the town stone. (Or, even better, something that non-citizens can access so they can get an idea of the politics of the city prior to signing onto loyalty.) ...Just saying.....We should know what the result ultimately will be.

Ok, changed my mind, I will agree to vote for giving current and former governors special/unique items, but ONLY if they cannot be removed from the original characters backpack/bank. If they are placed on the ground, inside a house or traded -instant poof!

After all, it's the thought that counts, right?

On Chesapeake the Governor of Vesper made statues for all the Governors and engraved them with the date and stuff. I think that was enough. It IS a player RP mechanic in the end even if we do have some systems in game from the Devs to help facilitate it.
