For 4 days now I have been trying to get a simple problem corrected, but I suppose Mythic is too busy chasing down dupers.

Problem:

Caused by: floating tree (raised high above the roof by gozas that were subsequently removed I am guessing)

Fix: I need a Mythic employee who has leet skillz to pop in and work some low level magic.

My house: Atlantic Shard: Trammel Minoc Burbs: Follow mountains right from T2A passage: coordinates: 132o 17'N, 79o 18'E.

Huh?

What am I not getting here?

Someone playing house decorator messed something up by kinda abusing goza mats to bypass placement rules and now the Devs need to stop what they are doing to come fix this? Seriously?

I must have missed something or read the post incorrectly cuz that makes no sense at all to me.

The tree belongs to the owner of the castle next to you the GMs will do nothing. The tree needs to be blocking something major like a house sign. Since its not the only one who will be able to move it is the owner of the castle. I hate those imprint shadows of the trees cause, but really nothing a GM really can do.
You might be able to do something like set up a parrot name it (name on sign) read my bulletin board leave a message to the owner of the castle on the board explaining how the tree is casting a imprint shadow in your house, if they please will be so kind to move it you would really appreciate it thank you in advance. Hopefully the owner is understanding removes it for ya.

This is what I do not get about the whole goza mat, rubble wall junk.... if the crap is illegal in the city limits of Luna and people can be threatened with bans and junk there... it should be illegal ANYWHERE else too, OR it should also be legal in Luna. The "it depends on where you are" type BS is beyond stupid imho.

funny.

this happened irl a tree in my neighbors back yard was growing over my moms fence. so my uncle came by and cut the portion that hung over the fence and my neighbor went bat ****. a 45 year old relationship down the tubes....

doubt the castle owner gives a hoot.

The RL case for your mom is legal it was over her fence line and she has the rights to cut it off. SlobberKnocker... the best thing she can do about the relationship is offer him an apology and explain why she needed it cut.
As for our tree hater here... sense she cant see what's on top of the castle to warrant the tree there.. I would hazard to guess its there on some old placement and they cant get it down .. I don't see gozas ...

This tree is blocking the view inside my home.

It appears that the owner raised the tree to unintended heights using gozas that he or she then removed.

Maybe I am incorrect but I suspect that gozas weren't introduced into the game so that one player could negatively affect the game play of another player?

He has a whole row of trees suspended high above the property that he actually owns, his castle, I am only requesting the removal of this one particular one that prevents me seeing things inside MY HOME, which, like the empty space high above his castle, he also doesn't own.

At the moment he has the right to chose the deco inside my house by his use of raising items on gozas.

Again, I am pretty sure that is not an intended us of gozas.

Yes we all have heard that Luna city vendor house owners can have these goza raised items removed from their neighbor's houses when they cause a problem for them.

So I am not asking for anything extraordinary.

Of course I feel they owe me 4 days game time that I have wasted being unable to finish setting up my new house because I can't see my things due to this.

I would place a vendor where the tree shadow is.. page a gm and tell them the tree is blocking your vendor.

Not exactly blocking...I can see the chests and the table through it in the picture. An annoyance, definitely, but so incredibly far from you being owed game time for it.

Curious though. Have you considered talking to the owner of the house?

Its only illegal if its blocking someones steps or house sign behind your place. Rubble walls show up on screen reguardless if you enter someones house, or not. If I placed rubble walls, and they blocked the owners steps or sign behind me I'm sure it would be moved or deleted.I think this is one of the reasons we no longer are able to deco the house signs.
Also not sure though I think even if the house owner was in their house the rubble walls were still blocking the house sign.
My UO hubby would lag out real bad when he recalled to my castle I would have to get on his account and move him. I only placed the mats on the floor tiles like carpet I had to remove the mats so he could recall in. Was so glad carpet came out.
Just gotta make sure what you place its not blocking anything of your neighbors houses around you.
I only build up the center roof of my castle, but its only one floor I don't care for the 6 or more goza mat floors.

If the player once contacted to move it to the NE or SE corner and they don't. Then yes they are an arse. I had an arse place a shack in front of my castle and used large paintings to block my doors. Nearly three years after, the house vannished "I win" The vendor ideal is your best bet for getting a response. How does the circle of trans work on and off? It is because of the child like minds we don't have custom plots for castle and keeps. Woot Woot for a borg cube. Make sure to save the conversation in jounal if you do speak. Most times someone confirming they are an asshat helps loads.

My house building style in UO is and will always be borg cubist. :)

I line the walls with chests then proceed to fill them up, that is my play style.

This is why this giant pink fuzz has left me paralyzed and unable to enjoy my normal play style. I wanted black and blue chests on black tables in this location which is, I didn't know when I placed here, obscured by the neighbor's invasion of the giant pink fuzz.

That is the design I had and liked in my same styled but much smaller borg cube tent house over in Vesper.

When I place a black chest on the table where the giant pink fuzz is it vanishes.

There is none there currently in the center area so I am not sure how anyone can see that they see one there.

I am beginning to suspect that the former owner of a house on this location lost his/her mind looking at the pink fuzz and wound up in a mental institution in real life and was unable to pay his/her sub fee so their house went idoc and fell down.

Which started me on that same path...

Thanks for all helpful comments, for those less than helpful, I will just request that the dev team grant each and everyone one of you a giant pink fuzz in the same location in your house!

This account goes down tomorrow 11 pm central, guess if the pink fuzz wins I am going to be a good loser and just go fishing.

In World of Warcraft.

If my houses fall while I'm gone, yes, you can have my stuff.

I don't see the problem.
Is the screenshot showing an area of your house that you cannot see when actually in the game?
I see both shadow tables with chests on them and a few chests on the ground.
I can see the entire corner of the house.
What is being blocked?

Unless I missed it somewhere, the OP hasn't managed (or tried) to talk to the house owner...

It does seem suggested that the owner had that tree placed there before the OP arrived too...

Wow, a bit off topic and a flat out personal attack.

I show a screenshot here of someone chatting in UO about their job in real life and I get an infraction.

I guess I don't understand the job of UO Stratics moderators?

Do I have to complain to get a troll post removed?

I page on cheaters no matter what shard I play, I think that's about the only defense I can think of as a response to this personal attack.

Oh, and I don't care who knows it.

:)

Yes the neighbor's castle and goza raised trees were all there long before me. I am sure he deserves to do whatever he likes in UO no matter how it affects other players because he has a bigger house and pays more than I do every month to play UO.

If it was anyone else house with the problem, despite what they claim, they'd have already emailed Mesanna directly about it.

I wouldn't have wasted my time posting here again except was hoping I'd been offered a solution, a Mythic employee just needed more info.

Ha.

Instead I see Stanley, *waves to Stan", gets to post a personal attack and not even back it up with details.

Yes, EA, this does mean money that should be headed for your bank is instead being diverted to Blizzard's bank.

I honestly don't know what could ever be done to help you if in your own words you are 'paralyzed' by one of your neighbors innocuous decos.

If this paralyzes you what would something much more serious and horrible like a crooked or badly pixilated roof tile do to you? Would you need a Valium or maybe even Prozac?

I think that it would be in your best interest to stop house decorating as it just seems way too perilous for you.

Don't get me wrong, those tree shadows can get incredibly annoying. But unless the tree shadow is somehow preventing placement of anything, there shouldn't be a problem. Clearly you (the OP) were able to place a couple chests and stone tables, so obviously they are not really blocking you from doing anything...

But if it truly bothers you so much, you're left with a few options. Either talk to the home owner to see if they can move the tree, hope a dev steps in and talks to the home owner (because they can't just delete the tree), or move elsewhere. I'm sure there is plenty of other spaces to put your borg cube :p

For 4 days now I have been trying to get a simple problem corrected, but I suppose Mythic is too busy chasing down dupers.

Fix: I need a Mythic employee who has leet skillz to pop in and work some low level magic.

My house: Atlantic Shard: Trammel Minoc Burbs: Follow mountains right from T2A passage: coordinates: 132o 17'N, 79o 18'E.

Ugh, I hate floating tree canopies like that. Mine are from my own trees, but all the same. I don't think the GM would be likely to delete the offending tree in the other persons house, as they are not breaking any rules that I know of. That is all that the GM could potentially do about it, as the canopy issue is a problem with the way the art is represented, which is beyond the scope of the GMs.
I think your only options here are talk to you neighbor about moving the tree, or move your house.

Oh, and if they have to choose between stopping dupers and fixing your tree problem... I think I know what I would rather they spend their time on. :p

unbelivable, you prepared to email messana about a tree that is NOT blocking anything.

BEFORE you have even bothered to try and correct the problem yourself by SPEAKING to the house owner..

talk about going full on straight away.

and your assumption that i or others would of email her. no i REALLY would of tried to resolve it in game first. i mean hell do you not think messana has bigger fish to fry?

Those of you who don't think it's an issue at all, remember that not everyone thinks your issues are important either.

To the original poster: I didn't even notice the issue in your screencaps until it was pointed out. If I didn't notice it at first I suspect the GMs may not be noticing it either. And, as others have pointed out, as it doesn't seem actively to be blocking what the GMs could do likely is pretty limited.

I didn't know you were still playing, welcome back. Your return experience will be quite, quite positive overall if this is the worst thing you experience.

Galen,

i can understand the point that to the OP its an issue, for me it wouldnt be, but that is my own judgment... that i get. what i find amazing is the lack of effort to resolve it in-game,

it could turn out as a simple request to the house owner and it is fixed.

seems people cannot be bothered to put that bit of tiny effort in before calling the powers that be, THAT is what i find funny.,.

Tree canopy shadow is a known graphics bug, annoying? Yes, game breaking? - not really.
I'm afraid it is going to be a low priority to fix, and a GM can do absolutely nothing.
The best, most realistic option is to ask the neighbour if he would please move the tree.

Things that may not bother you may bother others in a extreme way it is what it is. Its not the Ops fault she feels the way she does, and expresses it.
My aunt can't stand the feel of cotton balls she freaks out if it touches her skin.
My mom hates worms so much she freaks out when someone throws a rubber band at her and yells out catch the worm, or you place a rubber band in her hand close it and say like the worm.
My 4 year old niece won't eat her food if it touches omg the fits she will throw if it does.
My other niece when she was little hated shadows on her walls she won't step one foot in her room til her mother checked her room out, and made it shadow free.
I did go check the castle out the owner just has the trees floating no built up goza floors. Makes me wonder if those trees were there when the castle owner placed that's what it looks like to me. Looks like she tried to deco that roof top around the floating trees.

it the fact she has done NOTHING to remedy the situation herself. i.e SPEAK to the neighbour.

but then expects support from mythic? to something i do not think they will help with anyways

*bangs head against wall*

prime example lady michelle, your aunty knows she does not like the feel of cotten balls. so she shows a little bit of initive and does not come into contact with them, the op could show the same initive and actually request to the house owner to remove said tree before requesting support. Would your auty phone the people who make the cotten balls to complain that she doesnt like them touching her skin and then request they do something?

that is the reason i feel this thread has got so much negative comments.

You probably are right that, if only for reasons of effectively resolving the issue, she might want to try and speak to the neighbor if she has not already.

I, for one, was careful only to address those who didn't consider it an issue at all! That was not a coincidence.

speak to the homeowner and if it doesn't work and a gm will not help than nothing wrong with moving to another spot. if not on atlantic there are house spots all over.

equating this to the mythic dupe is pure folly in my humble opinion.

Heh, ask the neighbor, okay fine, someone give me his info so I can get in touch with him.

(Better yet, give me his account info I will log in and do the GMs job of deleting this improperly placed item myself.)

I, like many many others in UO, rarely see any of my neighbors, and I have never seen him to ask him anything.

I think maybe he's playing World of Warcraft? (He just couldn't stand looking at all that crap floating in the air above his castle roof that the prior owner left behind anymore and he had to go.)

Actually I asked if anyone knew him in general chat, and someone said they only knew him from UO Stratics and, that there at least, he seemed to be a royal arse.

Wow, that's a shocker, a royal arse at Stratics...

Stanley, Lexx 1x2, what the robothead says to Stanley there I say to you. :)

Unlike you, I'm not allowed to post personal attacks here, you'll just have to go use a proxy.

Yes I have considered doing a 'Stanley', elevating gozas and piling items on top to annoy all of my neighbors, just to get enough others yelping about the problem so the dev (yes I think there's only one dev left) is forced to correct it. (As one duper of mythic tokens said in general chat on Atlantic, he flooded the market with tokens to draw attention to them being duped so something would be done about it.)

Two wrongs don't make a right, as my mama liked to say.

Also, I just don't really care enough anymore to do the work I think.

Funny thing is about 35 days ago I threatened to give my sub to Blizzard because I kept getting an error when attempting to change my Mythic login password.

I had a trojan /virus on my computer and before I entered my new debit card info to reactivate my account I wanted to change all passwords associated with it.

Changed my gmail password, changed my uo account login password, no problems.

Tried every way to make sure it wasn't some issue on my end but ERROR ERROR ERROR, no dice changing my Mythic login password.

5 days of headaches and sending feedback and finally I figured out a workaround, I bought a month's game time from Origin. My state charges tax, so I was pleasantly surprised to learn that buying a code from Origin was cheaper by 40-50 cents than subbing with my debit card. (Somehow seems wrong though doesn't it?)

The only reason I bothered wasting those 5 days of headaches was because Origin had had a half price sale and I wanted to apply the SA upgrade that I had purchased to one of my accounts that needed it (I have 8 accounts).

I bet if I went right now and tried to change my Mythic login password I'd still get an ERROR and not be able to because 30 days later it still hasn't been fixed. Like MyUO, it's been how long? 3 years? Still not fixed.

Also, I can see the irony of not just subbing to WoW last month as I threatened to.

I wouldn't have wasted the past 4-5 days worth of headaches over the neighbor's giant pink fuzz invasion because I would never have activated this account and it would have zero houses on it for neighbors to invade with their giant pink fuzzes.

This experience does however make it the choice easier when I can't decide which I'd rather play, UO or WoW.

So thanks everybody, dev, and GM included, for that at least.

:)

It isn't game changing..if you really can't deal without and are going to quit a game over a trees shadow in your house..quit or move..my god..people out there are dealing my much bigger issues..perma bugged characters, lost characters in the transfer cloud, skills not gaining correctly, pets disappearing..and your here griping about a trees shadow when it's a simple fix..move away. Actually I asked if anyone knew him in general chat, and someone said they only knew him from UO Stratics and, that there at least, he seemed to be a royal arse.
If they know him from Stratics well enough to know how he posts, then they know his Stratics user name. With that you can simply send him a private message on Stratics asking him to please help with the tree.

Whether he is a 'royal arse' or not would depend on point of view. There are some that would use that term to describe me, but for some reason I fail to agree with that opinion. :D

Wow, serious case of hating the tree shadow...

I am hoping you really aren't quitting over this and this is all just for display.

If people only know him through stratics that it should be incredibly easy to locate his username, thus allowing you to send him a private message. Though I would highly suggest take a kind tone and ask nicely...

Point of fact, Castles are only 2 story houses. Were it a Large Tower or 3 story custom and they decided to decorate with trees or rubble on the top floor the result would be the same. It's not the players fault circle transparency doesn't work with rubble or trees. At least it's a beautiful cherry blossom tree which CAN in fact be seen through as opposed to a rubble wall you cannot.
