IDOC's must change

Simple fix:

1. A list of all houses that are decaying in a public sign at brit bank WITHOUT a location to keep the IDOC'er happy

Reason:

A number of my friends do IDOC's on a regular bases I choose not to for personal reasons.
They go into a different channel or a communication program in order to share their information and intentionally doesn't want to share this information for the simple reason they want as much of the stuff as possible.
That is what IDOC's are about and how the system works today. which is fine to that extent.

The problem I am sure I am not alone with this. Some of those houses I could have told the owner their house is falling.

Also, whenever a payment doesn't go through an automatic Email should be set out often it does not.

Ox AO is quite right.... many times I have found out that Billing has messed up the CC payment I have going and find accounts that I need on are off .... its getting frustrating.
I lost a few houses to a multi grandfathered account, I had no warning went off. No e mail, no nada. I caught the largest house and saved it, but lost all its small's across that shard but also smalls I valued as helps on other shards. Small is a term as many were sandstone, villas, and a few were 7x7. On out of the way shards and not in areas others coveted. Had I been sent a message the card was declined or they had trouble that loss wouldn't have happened. Yea I know I don't need it but it was originally not my account ether and I do try to hold my friends places together should they ask for them.....

I am surprised. When I began reading I thought this was going to be a thread about wanting to be able to share in the loot without having to do the hours of work in finding the IDOC's. lol

I agree with you though. Anytime the automatic debit does not go through they should send an email automatically. Also, it would be a good idea for them to figure out a way to send you an email anytime your house actually started the decay process.

We should definitely be notified if a payment doesn't go through for whatever reason. That is a simple automated process that should already be in place, but is yet another example of poor customer support that could make all the difference in the world. Seriously, there is no reason this company cannot offer better customer support. It seems to me they choose not to and I don't understand it.

I have always wondered if EA is just neglecting uo on purpose...kind of like they hope we just all go away. Seems like so many issues with easy fixes plague us. Just a thought, good idea on the warning email though.

This is all that's needed.

If players pay for their accounts every 2-3 months just to keep houses from decaying, that's a risk they're obviously willing to take. there's nothing wrong with house decay as is.

if it worked with some kind of reliability which it doesn't. There will always be some kind of bug in the system. I notice there is a lot of likes for your single answer solution. Shouldn't we be doing whatever we can do keep people from quitting rather then taking and hording their stuff?

The way it works today it causes problems for those that play.
example on how this conversation usually goes:

Me: "oh man Joe's house fell? why didn't you tell me i could have Emailed him to see how he is doing?"

IDOC'er: "I didn't know you knew Joe"

Me: "Yeah, you remember the guy that hasn't been here in about 4 month's?"

IDOC'er "Oh yeah, I remember now."

Me: "slaps head"

Whilst I agree that the accounting system appears to have been designed about the same time as the Ark and REALLY REALLY needs sorting out. I would make the following observation about the proposal.

I personally do not go looking for idocs as much as I used to (very rarely now in fact) but when I went round regularly I would see the same houses time and time again. This imbedded many of the house names AND LOCATIONS in my memory, I cannot be alone in this, I am sure the same applies to many of our regular idocers. Therefore to post the information anywhere would in many cases where the older properties are concerned simply cause the idocer to think for a while and then be there within 5 minutes. I fear it is not the answer. The real resolution lies with the accounts department and they just do not appear to be up to the job.

Quite right Bobar..
Accounting has dropped the ball and the whole system is flawed... As in another posting Account management is very much to blame...
How we all forget the ladys and gentilmen who are in our armed forces who get deployed and have to rely on that very same billing to keep their account alive while they are fighting... Think of them that return thinking "ahh I can go play...." only to find their home and all they worked on in game is poofed...
I know of 3 people who were in Iraq and came back to nothing left in game cause the billing on their accounts messed up and shut them down.... Its kind of hard to check your bank and e mails in the field of battle...

Why don't they make it so when an account goes inactive, the decay process starts but takes 3 months to complete? Then you have plenty of warning and friends can get in touch with house owners about their home decaying.

If the fixes were easy do you think the problems would persist?

I think the issues would be easier to fix if they had a proper staff. Neither of us know for sure so it's all speculation.

You know that might help a bit too.... On the house sign could be:
House name
Owner
This is a private home
Status - active/inactive (this is where the big problem will be)
Playing Devil.......
You see the minute they put a tag like that on a house players tend to get the idea that its free game... meaning they become possessive of the area for looting rights.
Its also a way that EA/Mythic could estimate how many houses are paid for.... which could be a sticky bit.

I used to use a credit card for my accounts. But after the "migration" I decided that game time codes are safer - much safer. So now I buy 6 month game times codes when I get my year end bonus and pay for an entire year. I know that not all can do that, but still - game time codes are much safer - even if you must buy a 1 or 3 month code. Also, the codes will stack. So I input a code, wait a day and input the next and then I'm done with it for a year.

Otherwise, I absolutely do agree they should send emails.

But as a 'workaround' the foregoing is just a suggestion. . .

Seems to me not being able to log into your account would be a pretty big hint. It's not like you don't have 3 freakin months worth of leeway. Those trying to work the system by playing housing roulette should take responsibility for it. Don't want your houses to fall? Then pay for em or pay closer attention. On the other hand if it's their only account and their house fell I hate to break it to you but they already quit UO 3 months ago.

I think the point is there are quite a few folks out there who think they ARE paying for their account... except that unbeknownst to them the account management system decides to close their accounts.

Then they'd know when they try to log in and still have months to reactivate. Houses take 90 days to even START to decay. It's not like EA is letting them log in to the game for all those months then all of the sudden their house is gone with no warning. If they are trying to game the system and they get burned then they deserve no sympathy.

Just because people pay every month doesn't mean they play. There are many circumstances where people keep accounts open and pay for every month but don't log in. Maybe they travel for work, maybe they are in the military, etc. Those people rely on the automated billing system to keep the accounts active. When that system breaks through no fault of the customer there is a problem.

Merus is quite correct.
Last year a man I know in the army was sent over to the war/peacekeeping in the Persian gulf. He had no way of getting on line to play much less check his bank statement for the UO payment.... he was gone 8 months the first time and is now off on another 6, he lost his accounts holdings due to the new system of billing... the CC was declined by an error EA billing, they know is there but wont fix... or cant fix. His castle and all his 15 + years of game play are gone... I was lucky to save him some of his things but he quit being in the military and over there made it too hard for him to deal with it any longer... His bank said there was plenty of money and they had no issues on their end... it was all EA.
This is why Claudia-fjp...
We loose many more players there will be no UO...

If there is a problem with the billing system ask for a fix to the billing system, don't screw with the rest of the game. If you have a flat tire, you don't replace the battery.

Huh?

If you set your accounts up correctly to be paid for monthly with a credit card that always has available credit and play with any sort of regularity you will never have a house fall.
There is more then enough of a house collapse grace period to cover any type of billing or credit issue.
I have played 15 years on dozens of different accounts and never once lost a house because of a payment not going through. If one payment does not go through for any reason I just use another form of payment.

Anyone trying to save monthly fees by paying intermittently deserves to occasionally lose a house. Its just that simple.
Anyone that is not logging in at least once a month to check on their accounts may lose a house. It sux but it is just that simple.
If something has value you don't just forget about it and hope everything is ok. Are you kidding me.

If the OP is that worried about his friends houses why doesn't he just stop by them once a month to check up on them instead of asking for emails?

And FYI:
If a card on file gets declined the account gets turned off and you get an email. Happens to me occasionally when a card expires or I switch banks or I simply go over my credit limit.
So I have no clue what people are talking about in this thread when they are asking for email notices. I have to assume that some geniuses are switching emails and not updating account info lol

I agree with this.

Also remove the decay message and only give one message to friends of the house, "house is abanned of owner and are decaying.

All others should not get any sign of the decay before the house drop. Want IDOC, you have to traveling around to find it.

Changes the way it drop so any secures are set to anyone, house become public and anyone can redeed add ons and unlock lockdowns. The house will stay that way for 24-48 hours, then it will drop.

That will give friends a chance to safe the stuff as they will know first.

Incorrect. The first I knew of my cc being declined was when I went to log in and found my account disabled. I received NO email, and no, my email had never changed and worked fine, as did my credit card which is linked to all my accounts. For some reason on this ONE payment the system died in the butt and cancelled my subscription. I always pay 6 monthly, no idea why in this case it barfed.

There is a problem with the system. It does NOT notify you if for whatever reason the credit card is declined. My cc was fine and I still use my existing email, and it is now accepting my credit card again so who the hell knows. All I know is it NEVER sent me an email.

It is probably supposed to send you an email, but in my case it certainly didn't.

I've usually gotten Emails. But then I have found a few times when I haven't. But as a general rule I log in and out on each account at least weekly so I would know if one was off within a week.

I'm sorry for your loss... and I do think that no matter what the circumstance is for account closing and EMAIL is VITAL. Though I'll say this if I EVER wanted to change my Email for whatever reason I doubt I'd be able to find where to do that and I am not sure it would still work after I did. So I just let it be.

I have my credit card company send me an email for every online charge as a fraud protection. I use these to help me verify that my accounts are paid on time. It does require me to know when my account's 6 month subscriptions are up, but the charges are like clockwork.

Think goodness for my wife.. she is good at that kind of thing.

I would have lost my houses years ago.
