Suddenly I have an 'Incompatible Application'?

Thanks to some great info and work by Kojak some time ago I was able to install and run UO Automap once again. Since then I have been happily using it every day. Yesterday after nothing more than a reboot it stopped loading, as soon as it started to load a gump would say a problem had caused it to fail. I tried loading and using the compatibility option with no success and at the end of that effort I was informed that it was an 'Incompatible Application'. Looking at the FAQ on the Windows Forum it would appear that no end of programmes are 'Incompatible' with Windows 7 but these seem to be ones that simply wont work not ones that did work and for no apparent reason stop. Unable to find anything relating to my problem there I thought I would try on here.

Does anyone have any ideas?.

Is it Windows, UOAM, or something else that's giving you the message?

This has been happening to me as well. The application crashes during start-up. I just get the standard Windows message that the application has stopped working.

Well I don't know if this is the cause but when I went to uoam.net it displayed a page with asian writing on it?? Mine was working fine until a week or so ago.

It also still works for me. You two didn't try updating the map, did you? If you do, it'll crash, ever since several years back when UO's map files changed and UOAM was no longer being supported.

It fails in Windows as soon as you try to sign in as Administrator



I made no changes at all - I simply had a reboot and one day it worked next day the above is what I get EVERY time I try to log in

You can try getting fresh bmp and mul files from here. When I reinstalled UOAM last year after getting a new HD, I got the files from someone's kind upload to Google Docs. You don't have to use the exe or dll files, and I wouldn't, since I don't know the source. But the bmp and mul files are safe to use, being just data.

I didn't realize anyone had gotten Ter Mur to work with UOAM, but it doesn't work for me...

did you even read my uoam thread that's locked at the top of the uhall in the sticky thread - all the files and everything you need including very newbie friendly instructions are all laid out in that thread from about post 28 on

all you gotta do is download it and unzip it - all I did was basically zip up the fully working automap directory on my computer and post it

It's been so long since I even noticed the titles of the sticky threads, and there we go, that's where I had gotten the files before. Actually I've never seen your post. The time or two I've looked in the thread, I stopped at #27, with someone else's upload.

Unfortunately I have tried deleting it and installing the whole thing (twice) as I still have a link to the original post of yours. The download works perfectly as does the unzipping but the moment I try to load it up comes the gump. As I couldn't find any info relating to this kind of problem on the Windows FAQ just lots of other 'Incompatible' progs I came here as a last resort really. Seems like I have lost my Automap once again. Still worse things happen at sea, as they say.

i was having the same issue, to repair it i had to install and run UOAssist one time then calibrate it manually again.

Also i forgot, i had to put the "-q" at the end of the target in the shorcut, whuch is explained how to do in the thread Kojak is referring to.
