Hear ye! Hear ye!
I, Governor Ivy of Vesper, am pleased to announce Vesper's first city event of my term: the Vesper Fishing Contest!I know, I know, many other fishing events go on, and the first part of ours will be much like others that have come before. Starting now, fish up weighted fish of any kind and turn them in to me at the Vesper dock on Sunday, June 30 at 5PM Eastern. (You will get your fish back.)
At that time, the second part of the contest will begin! This second contest is unlike other fishing contests you've probably participated in before. I cannot divulge the details of the second part at this time as the Maritime Guild has expressed concerns about disrupting the ecosystem--just have your fishers ready for a different kind of fishing challenge!
(There is no combat, and please have plenty of weight available in your inventory. Also note that once the second part of the contest begins and the rules have been announced, you must stay in the area or you will disqualified. No special gear or bait is required.)
There will be a first, second, and third place award for each part of the contest:
First place: a gold engraved first place trophy statue (player made, NOT EM made), a Vesper museum statue, a pedestal to put one of them on, red ship dye, a gargoyle ship, and 1 million gold
Also: optional town title of "Royal Ichthyologist" if the winner is a Vesper citizen
Second place: a "silver" (dull copper) engraved second place trophy statue, a Tokuno boat, and 500k
Third place: a bronze engraved third place trophy statue, a rowboat, and 250k
As well as plain stone engraved participant "trophy" statues for everyone who participates!
You do not have to participate in both parts of the contest; you may do only one if you prefer. The live event will begin after everyone has turned in their fish on Sunday, June 30th at 5 pm EST.

I also have two announcements to make for those of you who did not attend the town meeting (and thank you!! to those of you who did!).
As I promised in my campaign, I have sought a mutually beneficial arrangement between Vesper and neighboring Minoc. As those of you who read my autobiography may have realized, the governor of Minoc is my very own son, Victor II! So of course, it was quite a simple matter to form a mutual defense pact. A copy of the defense pact is on my desk downstairs, and you may take one for yourself from the community box (on the top floor of my governor's office) if you so desire.
Also, Vesper has opted to open a trade agreement with the Guild of Arcane Arts, giving Vesper citizens with 'respected' or above status the option of using the city stone to receive a +5% spell damage increase buff. Meanwhile, Minoc has opened a trade agreement with the Guild of Assassins, giving Minoc citizens with 'respected' or above status an optional +5% swing speed increase buff.
Victor and I will be working together on town affairs and events, and we are already working on a second, more involved event incorporating both Vesper and Minoc and the surrounding areas. I hope you join us!
