CC Targeting Issue

Starting this morning I seem to be having an issue in classic client where the monster I target with my dexer only stays targeted for one swing. After that another monster becomes the target and in most instances it's a monster that's several tiles away. I can retarget the monster but it only stays targeted for one swing and then targets another monster. Curious if anyone else is having a similar issue. I'm guessing it's something to do with publish 82?

No seriously if this is heppening I am sorry and it is a HUGE issue but dont expect a quick fix as looks like the same issue.

check ou macro and make sure another key isnt there shich you are hitting for target next or anything like that.

I concur! For once hehe..it's been a long standing issue with the targeting system built into the CC sometimes it works "FLAWLESS" but then sometimes it seems to bug out at the worst possible time..I've always been a click and drag bar guy never fails atleast!


I don't Pvm often so I can't comment there but in pvp the whole gargoyle race seems to be immune to CC targeting sometimes..just wanna rip my hair out! Especially since 90% he's the dismounter and first target

Is your dexxer being healed by another character when this happens?

No I'm the only person in the area. I have seen the notes on pub 82 and didn't see any relation to the taming situation in the pub notes. I've tried a few things with the macros but can't resolve the issue. There does not appear to be an issue with EC, maybe I need to reinstall the classic client....

I asked because two people (Voodoo Bad Mojo and CovenantX) reported the re-targetting problem with dexxers who were being healed by another character in the Pub 82 thread after they did some testing on Origin and TC. (CovenantX also noted that the healer got no looting rights when the healer provided almost all the healing for the dexxer, other than what was leeched through the dexxer's weapon.)

Hopefully whatever the problem is, it will be fixed quickly.

Pub 82 is what caused the problems you're experiencing, here is the change that caused it.

Looting rights distribution update

Corrected issue which prevented players healing scores from being calculated correctly in loot final score.
Healing now applies aggression towards targets aggressors. Example: Warrior A is fighting Mob B. Healer C heals Warrior A and now has aggressed Mob B. (Does not apply in PvP)
DPS weight has been adjusted to be closer to Pre Publish 74 in final loot score.

Hopefully this gets a hotfix sometime soon, because this is annoying as hell, dunno why this change was even thought of, because loot distribution was fine pre-pub 82.

Wrong. That is my macro, and it does the same thing that is happening to Jeriico. Solo playing, no one else around anywhere. One shot, then target switches to something way off, leaving the one beating on me to, well, beat on me. Annoying as hell. I don't have a tamer, so that isn't the problem. I don't have anyone around me, so that isn't the problem. Did they bork the healing somehow? It seems to happen most when I actually have a bandage applied that hasn't kicked in yet.

Yes, the develpers borked healing and healer looting rights, not to mention problems with trade deals and the Origin store. Obviously this was intentional because otherwise we would have had an opportunity to test on TC1, then Origin, and give our feedback. The publish was rushed so I am sure that no feedback was wanted.

Am I being hard on the developers? Yes... but in this case they deserve it.

I have heard of this happening with pets but this is the first time that I have heard of it happening with players characters, are sure you are in war mode?

Observed this bug while fighting in the Abyss.

I begin by attacking a monster as per usual. When another monster targets me, that other monster immediately becomes my target, even if it is far away from me or on the other side of an obstacle. No other players are around and I do not heal with bandages.

well its working for me, I have soloed Rikktor spawn 8-9 times in the last week without a problem. But i dont use bandies my only way of healing mylself is life leach

Assuming people are using the same client and have no one else healing them in any manner, I wonder if there is any difference in experiences with targetting for those using ethereal mounts versus those who might be on foot versus those using a "real" mount (i.e., has something changed so that hostiles somehow "see" and get distracted by a real mount, even if your character is currently riding it). And maybe Winker is onto something as well with regard to whether or not your soloing dexxer heals just through leeching and/or potions or is using bandages.

So, to recap that mess of a paragraph and some other stuff that's been mentioned in previous threads the last week or so in possibly related threads, maybe answer the following questions if you've been using a dexxer for PvM since Publish 82 hit your shard, whether or not you've had any re-targeting issues. Maybe we can figure out a common theme.

• Which client are you using? Classic Client with UO Assist.
• Are you using "Select Nearest Hostile / Attack Selected" for targeting? If not, what does your targeting macro look like? No, I use the old target system Target next & attack last macros (seperate keys). *Normally I only use the targetting in pvp. as my pvm dexer is always in peace, auto-defending, instead of directly attacking the mob.
• On average, how many hostiles are flagged to your character when you have re-targetting issues? More than one.
• Which kind of hostiles seem to cause the most re-targetting problems for your character? Every target regardless if they're hostile or not, if I flag it, I need to constantly re-attack.
• Do you have any re-targetting issues when there is only one target in the area? No (auto-defend while in peace-mode)
• If you've been having re-targetting issues, have there been any types of hostiles that have NOT caused re-targetting problems? No
• Is your character being healed by another character via bandages? No didn't test with bandages.
• Is your character being healed by another character via spells? Yes via provocation bard mastery songs & Magery > Greater heal.
• Is your character being healed/buffed by another character via a barding mastery? Yes
• Is your character self-healing with bandages? Yes
• Is your character self-healing with potions? No
• Is your character self-healing with weapon leech? Yes
• Which race is your character? Human
• Is your character on foot when attacking hostiles? Yes
• Is your character flying when attacking hostiles? No
• Is your character riding an ethereal mount when attacking hostiles? No
• Is your character riding a "real" mount when attacking hostiles? No
• If you answered above that your character is being healed/buffed by another character in some way, is the healer or bard character receiving looting rights for kills made by your dexxer? If yes, do you notice anything different in the healer's or bard's looting rights now versus pre-Publish 82? The healer, receives looting rights due to being in party, The healer no longer gains fame & Karma when mobs are killed unless the healer deals damage to them.

* It seems to be caused by multiple mobs flagging on the dexer, normally (pre-pub 82) auto-defend, defends against the nearest target, now it seems to flag the mob that's furthest away that is currently attacking you.

Also, if the auto-defend kills a mob, the character no longer auto-defends against the next mob. (This isn't the issue though, but it's still quite annoying)

This issue reminds me of another bug that caused your character to do the same thing, after you gathered medusa eggs. (around when shame first received the re-vamp, if I remember correctly).
