Which would do the most DPS? 4 Lowland Bouras (with pack instinct) or 4 Vollems (dont have instinct)

Which would do the most DPS? 4 Lowland Bouras (with pack instinct) or 4 Vollems (dont have pack instinct)

please Consider that there will be two 4x 120 bards involved so the pets will get all 4 bard buffs.

Difficult to compare, the overall vollems dps is so variable as they are magic users, and it will differ hugely with their target's resists and their own casting 'choices'. My instinct is the vollems will come out slightly ahead, but it will be a horrible one to test.....

Very long lasting battles, it may swing to an advantage for the boura, as the vollem mana drops.

Bard Buffs, like the Peacemaking / Provocation buffs?

I don't think those bard buffs effect pets.

If you're fighting something with high physical resist and low elemental resists then vollems would probably be better. but boura's would be better for anything that's around 50-70 everything (which lots of mobs are) pack damage is a pretty big deal.

Keep in mind that pack instinct only applies to pets under your control (even partied does not count). So the pack multiplier will not include all 4 pets. better mix would be combine the two and one with bouras and one with vollems.
just an idea though

Robert nailed it what you ar asking is irrevelent as 4 Volems do not exist as best they could do is 2x An i am pretty sure Borus als cannot be controlled 4 at a time sooo,

whatever you are thinking needs to be looked at from the get go sorry.

Yep 2 Volems or 2 Lowlands :whip:

actually his question is pretty straight forward.
there is him and his buddy.
they both will have 2.
he wants to know what does more DPS 4 vollems (him 2, buddy 2) or 4 boura's (him 2, buddy 2)

so it IS a relevant question, you just need to read a bit more.

so, back to the question.
boura's have pack instincts and vollems dont.
pack instinct only effects the 2 you have and then your buddies 2 would be another pack.

vollems have magic, boura's dont.

boura's arnt known for having high DPS, they are meat shields, lots of HP and resists.

i can show you what happens when you pit fight freshly tamed ones against each other as there is a video online about this.
in the video they use a nightmare as nightmares and Vollems are identical in skills and resists.

it would be interesting to see 2 fully trained vollems fight 2 fully trained boura's.

would pack instinct win.... or would magic with melee win....

actually if anyone has 2 trained (bonded) boura's i have 2 vollems pretty much on all shards, we could test this.

The problem with that comparison (Vollems fighting Bouras) is that it does not measure what you are trying to determine. Just because vollems might kill the boura before the boura can kill the vollem does not mean that vollems are better then bouras when fighting other monsters. You would need to do a number of experiments with 2 boura fighting a specific mob like 100 times, then another 100 times using two vollems instead. Keeping track of DPS and total time to kill then comparing averages would be the only way to get an idea which pet combo is better in the field.

Best way I can think to test this is, he and his buddy go hunting together, One takes the Vollems and one takes the Bouras. You both fight the same stuff, and compare notes, not too scientific, but you should figure out pretty quick which are the better all around companions.

It would highly depend on the resistances of the things you're hunting, things with really high physical resist the boura's would likely not kill it as fast as vollems would. just because vollems cast spells (not sure if they do physical damage with their melee attacks or not)

it would be fighting unbound energy vortexes
i have had mine in there before when my guild mate had his greater dragon as a meat shield and they purred like kittens, err, purred like Vollems?

since im bored and known for doing stupid stuff ill go tame and bond a pair of Boura's and run a couple tests next week once they bond.

oh, what are we talking?
Lowland, Rudy or Highland ones?
im guessing Lowland so Humans can control them???
