I’m not sure what you mean by “downfall”. How much do you continue to play your console games after you have “won”? Probably not as much as before I‘d wager and at some point you probably stop altogether and move on to some new game. So, logically, “winning” would seem to make you less likely to keep playing. With that in mind, the notion that people “cannot keep playing because they can never win” puzzles me as winning would seem to make you more likely to quit playing.Maybe this is infact UOs own downfall ..that peeps cannot keep playing because they can never win this game???
WoW is a terrible game.Weird yes.. but can u ever win UO?? Owning a castle is basically endgame??
Has a former ''console player'' i loved seeing the end credits every time u had beaten a game!!! knowing u had beat the game gave u good ,good vibes!!
Maybe this is infact UOs own downfall ..that peeps cannot keep playing because they can never win this game??? mmmmmmmmm
WOW is popular its easy interface lets u pick up and play and u can basically finish the game....mmmmmmm ...interesting methinks....
Thoughts plz...
And u are right!!! owning a castle is not end game...because i too have known people leave there home shard to start a very quite shard, just so they can place or buy a very cheap castle...I had a castle after a year, before I started PvPing, before I made my first 100mil.
Getting a castle is nowhere near an endgame. Hell I ended up giving like 10 away from idoc placement.
QFTUO isn't a game, it's a world. You don't win it, you live in it.
Exceptionally well put.UO isn't a game, it's a world. You don't win it, you live in it.
what ?That is what makes UO - it is ongoing. Otherwise folks wouldn't play for 10 years. Even old timers don't know everything about the game.
That's wrong.The Point of the Post !!....
IMO Casual gamers are often put off UO when the start it, when they realize it cannot be beaten EVER!! so return to something a little easier to play...I also think the training curve puts a lot of new casual players off too..its very hard to jump in the first few weeks and hold your own even with a ogre, never mind a full laden top end artifact and reward pvper!!
No, it's perfectly acceptable by any new player who has a remote form of intelligence. You know what's the second most played MMORPG? Lineage 2. In PvP you're useless before reaching lvl 70, and an easy target before reaching lvl 76. Count one or two years to reach those levels if you're not a mad powergamer with a lot of time everyday. There's 85 levels. The XP you need from 1 to 76, you need the same from 76 to 80.its very hard to jump in the first few weeks and hold your own even with a ogre, never mind a full laden top end artifact and reward pvper!!
people put off by a game with no endgame then UO isnt the right game for them, tell them to get a ps3 or somethingIMO Casual gamers are often put off UO when the start it, when they realize it cannot be beaten EVER!! so return to something a little easier to play...I also think the training curve puts a lot of new casual players off too..its very hard to jump in the first few weeks and hold your own even with a ogre, never mind a full laden top end artifact and reward pvper!!
Elder Scrolls: Morrowind?I think THP should honor us with the name of one solo game that you can win that people have been playing for 10 years, everyday or near.
Then the question is : Just a thought... Are solo games won then left because there's nothing to do afterwards?
I don't think any of us will ever know how many people have tried out UO expecting to be able to "finish" it and eventually left in disgust when they found out it isn't set up to support that concept. If I were to run into someone playing or wanting to play UO who has that mindset, whether or not they are a "casual gamer," I would urge them to try a different game because otherwise they just might ending up playing UO a lot longer than they ever intended.read the post before u answer with all the crap replies please!!!!!!!!!!
YOU DONT SEEM TO GRASP MY QUESTION AT ALL??
My son once said ''Havent u finished that game yet, u have played it for absolute ages, '' to which i replied ''u can never finish this game- its endless!! ''.....looking at me bemused he retorted ''so whats the point?''
Iam more than happy with UO to me its better than any game i have finished on consoles..and i have finished many of them ...Hell man i have finished games in money munching Arcades!!
