Returning player

I played from the Beta until about 4-5 years ago. I'm done with Lotro and am thinking of coming back. How much has the game changed in that time? Would I have to rebuild all my chars? I let my house drop with everything in it...twice. I was in the Rebellion, factions and Champ spawns, and think there's all sorts of things still to do in the game that I missed last time. Which client do you all use?

Yes , a lot changed and you will need to relearn some things but thats part of the fun. Rebuilding might not be needed maybe adjusting a few things. I still have characters who have the exact same skills as 15 years ago.
Just the way i fight ot what i wear/use changed over the years.

I only use the EC client with Pinco's UI ( http://stratics.com/community/forums/pincos-ui.667/ )
But you can still use old client. or both and see what you like best.

Depending on what shard you going to play, just hop in your shard forum and in general chat ingame , there always good players around that can and will help you.

Advantage of returning if you left playing the CC. All the fresh habits of CC are not there and you'll pick up EC faster with less a fight. Then you'll wonder why it wasn't like EC all the while. Returning, General Chat is your best friend. Ask your questions and from the answers you'll find you'll build up a good ignore list. Chat is a usefull tool.

Thanks all. I'm from Lake Superior. I only ever played CC. Do you still use UO assist? I'm not sure if I can get that back or not. I just got my old account back, but I don't know how to play EC lol. I'm looking forward to building a house again.

Welcome back i Use pincos ui which is a updated EC client, it's really good.
So much has changed I'm jealous! Atlantic seems to be the most populated these days, I transferred there from Catskills so I could buy stuff I need.

Gotta upgrade to abyss and build a thrower they're fun. And a tamer who can fly with a greater dragon helps too

Both were used around 50/50 up until the last poll. Take the time to download both and add Pinco's UI to the EC, the default out-of-the-box EC isn't impressive.

While I favor the look & feel of the CC, the EC has a lot of bells & whistles added in which seem to be popular with nearly half the players who post here. Give both a serious try. You may wind up liking one more than the other or wind up using both depending on what your planning on doing each play session.

The beauty of returning is you have to relearn the game..... since quite a bit has changed in the last 4 years you might want to try using the new client with Pinco's UI.

Some find it to be vastly superior to the old CC with UOAssist.... however that is up to you.

I personally use the EC 99.9% of the time and will never return to the old. Having played other games for awhile the new EC is more like the interface of some of the other games. More modern and more user friendly. There is some ugliness to get over with some of the Mobiles but you get used to it soon enough. Depending on your game play the EC can be a huge advantage.

As for coming back welcome home. If you need help with anything feel free to ask about in General Chat or come here. There are many friendly and helpful people still around. Just remember there are also still scammers and such so watch yourself accordingly.

If population is a concern you may want to take the opportunity to move to Atlantic which is by far the busiest shard now. Lake Superior still ok from what I hear but not nearly as bustling.

If you decide to come to Atlantic send me a PM and I will get you started with gold/house/armor/etc...

I came home about 2 years ago, after 6 years in EQII. There is no gaming community as good as the one here, in UO.

I kept everything at home so when my 2 houses fell I lost it all. Started from scratch, again. Yes, you'll have to redo some stuff but it is so worth it.

Thanks again, it's great to be back. There sure are a lot of houses still, but I already found an 18 x 18 spot. Thanks Snakeman, I got UOA set up. And Goldberg, thanks for the offer, but I like to earn my own stuff. I checked my main, and I do still have some stuff in the bank. I hope my other chars do too, haven't logged them in yet to check. Most of my vet rewards are gone though, except the ones I'm riding. But, no more leveling, and I love the customized houses. Sweet.
