Shard by Shard Activity Table

Okies didnt take long to do.....take it aboard or flatly dismiss the figures as u will !!!

This is a shard activity table based on vendor items for sale on a known and well used search.

My own view is THIS can be compared to player activity on a ''looser level''....I have travelled theses shards over last months and kinda have a feel for the landscapes

AND IT STICKS OUT LIKE A SORE THUMB

The [top 3] in the table there is no spaces for any keeps and u need to look around a while for a 1818 plot...the keeps and castles u will have sit fallers or buy them.

The next batch [best of the rest] there the odd keep spots free to place but not many....but a 1818 is pretty easy even in trammel.....there is a house market only for luna/castles/zento is ok

The next batch [mid table] u can easily place a keep ...even a castle if u look hard enough and the housing market is pretty dead barring luna/castles/zento..and even prices for these are very low indeed....

The last [lower end] section u can place even castles on all these shards even luna spots prehaps........

The figure next to the shard is simply a multiplyer [x more] than the shard at the bottom that is rated as one.....quite simply put atlantic had 27,000 items for sale while Balah had only 300....so atlantic was 90x more active.

I'm sure you know that on Drachenfels a lot of items are sold trough the ingame auction event and that a lot of items are sold trough general and alliance chat.

Forgot to mention what percent of those vendors belong to accounts that do at least one daily activity that would justify a perma ban.

AND!!! Like u too also know u can place a castle on drachs with a little looking around in feluca ...indeed i placed one and basically gave it away [couple of mill i seem to remember and a decent suit] and showed another player an empty spot...possibly one of the few shards in the ''mid table'' u can......but ksara....

I hope you realize that the search site you are referring to doesn't certain kinds of items that are actually for sale on various shards, especially the Asian shards. I have had vendors up in Luna for almost a week now on one of those shards and the bot that walks around seems to only be capable of posting the information for the items on one of the vendors. Anything I put up on the other vendors never appears in the database Also, mysteriously, someone comes along every few days and completely buys out those other vendors of mine that are selling LRC suits and jewelry. I restock as soon as I log on and see the vendors are empty. Then along comes the bot every couple of hours while the vendors are restocked and full, and still their information never hits the database, while the other vendor's information does show up. Other stuff that's been for sale for quite a while also on that shard (e.g., a Europa gold harpsichord deed) also never shows up in the database. It is quite odd.

I've repeatedly looked up information for certain other Luna vendors on other shards and the information never seems to show up in that database. Go back day after day and see the same items up for sale. Go to the search site day after day and look for said items and they just are NOT there. Who knows why. I won't speculate because that would just be making an unfounded allegation.

So, if you're going to base your perceptions of how things are going in UO by what is and is not available for purchase on various shards according to that search engine, you might be working with faulty data. Or, if you need something on a shard and it never seems to be for sale, according to the search site, you might just find it if you go checking vendors yourself.

one thing that stands out here is that from time to time you get certain portions of the player base petition for shard closings to get more people to certain areas while those that have a certain affinity for a lower player base shard argue vehemently against such an action. EA repeatedly has stated that they would never consider shard closures.

however in looking at the above data it is plain and simple to see that most of the player base has infact wound up migrating themselves. In the least present availability of shard transfers those with more than one account have at least placed a small plot on atl so that they could better merchant their wares.

then it would be the same par all the shards...so the data still runs true

the item i searched for was simply ......'a'.....so runs true for all of the shards....try it yourself....

mmmmm didnt bother with siege or mugen......mainly because i cant transfer my easy to trawl trammel and felluca in 3 hours runebook collection free of charge ...aka the overpowered shard shields...i love em!!...and i certainly cant be assed to manually do it all...... maybe someone can help out there.....

well a keep is possible...but u probably already know that.....castles are pretty much taken on all but the really empty shards that look like green acres and are probably down to 100 or less active players...

mmm 3rd spot GL.... 1818s are pretty easy...at least 2 tram spots open so far ...about 1\3rd way through runebooks....4 or so in felucca....so maybe just keeps and castles with luna and zento is the market here....doubt theres anyone paying for 1818s...not done malas im guessing u can place at will there....

Yeah-- This is the main reason I hope they finally add an offical vendor search. I also have a Luna house and my vendors do not show up on the vendor search sites.

Yeah, I gave up today. For the fourth or fifth time now in a week, someone came along and wiped out everything on two vendors in mere minutes (6 LRC suits for noob characters on one vendor and newbie-type imbued jewelry on another one). I just can't keep up with that and I am not inclined to just have empty vendors sitting there 95% of the day. It's pretty pointless. There's no one reselling the stuff in Luna or elsewhere on the shard, that I know of. So I figure it's just someone unraveling the stuff as fast as I can make it. I might as well just be throwing a bag of Shame loot on the vendor for them to buy if that's what they're really after. So I took the vendors down. This was my last attempt at trying to run a shop selling cheap, useful stuff for noob characters in UO. I'm done with that goal.

This thread is Stupid, data collected from an illegal 3rd party site from someone who has been crying for years that UO is dead and about to be closed down means nothing.

The OP has been saying for years he is giving up and closing his accounts down, but yet he is still here. Now he is trying to persuade everyone that UO is dead due to the amount of vendors found on an Illegal 3rd party site.

I play on 3 shards and don't have a vendor on any of them, I sell all my stuff on stratics and via the general chat on each shard and on there respective trade forums. Did he count those people too? No didn't think so!

Atlantic's imbalance in your numbers is due to it's popularity as the main hub for commerce. I run vendors there - buy stuff and bring my goodies and gold back to my home shard. I don't actually play the shard at all.

And I'm not the only one. It's pretty common.

Because of this, I think there should be a special shard transfer moongate open from all shards to Atlantic (Only Atlantic, all other shard transferring would still require a token). Make the moongate useable once per day (or 5 days...7 days, whatever) and whichever shard you came from is where you will return to when you've finished your business on Atlantic. I could see a population boost on smaller shards if this system was in place.


Of course, it would drive down the popularity of transfer tokens since the majority of them are used to and from Atlantic...

The thing is if you ask the local undertaker how things are going in his local area he will tell you everyone is dieing. I guess its the same with people who run around looking for people who have left the game and looting their homes when they fall.

I run 3 accounts, which allows me to sit at luna bank on a 2 and play on the other. That way I get to read the general chat and buy and sell goods over 3 shards all at the same time, ad get to play with my friends

the figures don't lie - maybe. But they only tell a fraction of the story, which makes them pretty irrelvent.
