leaving the Despise Champ Spawn?

three times in the last 2 days i have seen people leave the despise champ spawn from the island by some mysterious means.

i remember seeing and hearing about this years ago but i had just assumed it was fixed or gone as i havnt seen anyone do it in a long time, but like i said, 3 people in the last 2 days ive seen leave the despise champ spawn.

no recalling.... no sacred journey..... just poof they are gone and the spawn speedhacks away to try to get them.

and no, they are not hidden and stealthing away.
i was on a GM tracker with detect.
they just vanished and where instantly outside the dungeon.

i had thought maybe the horn of retreat or whatever that horn was that new necro's could get but it only has 10 charges and i cant see people wasting those charges so willy nilly.

if you log out in a champ spawn area and wait a bit and relog back in you get booted

If you log out in a champ spawn, and fully timeout after 5 minutes, then yes you will be booted.

What the OP is talking about is an exploit. I've seen it in dungeons and in the field in fel. Somehow they are able to do something and completely disappear.

I've paged on a guy on GL doing it during a fight. About 20 minutes later after the page was received he did it again. I haven't seen him since, maybe they caught him? I've not met anyone who knows how to use the bug.

ya its really trippy to watch these guys do it.
i was sitting hidden on my protector and watched the fella run in to check the spawn, then POOF, gone.

same thing the next day, same fella.
then a hour later on a different fella.

its funny cause its not like it take much to get out of there, run up and hit the destard tele and then run out, takes all of 30 seconds.

They fixed the sand thing long ago to prevent players to exit a champ area by that.

Now here is an even more unusual event ...
Few days ago during a Harry in Hythloth we chased a two red players who had looted some Powerscrolls.
We chased them to the bottom level of Hythloth at a far away and small room. They hide... Perhaps 5-8 seconds went. I had to take care of spawn before I could reveal them... One player was tamer with pet, so there is no chance they could have stealthed out of the room. Now for the very odd part...
Suddenly "I" (!) was booted to East brit bank in Felucca.
My guild mates who were still in the room could not find the hidden players there... They had vannished - Probably booted out as well.

Quite weird happening - so I called a GM. They said they will investigate cose something was not right.
If I suddenly become part of their "stuck mode" request - I am not sure. But I have heard that Powerscrolls drop to the floor if stuck mode is triggered, so can't be it. Exorsism is another possible explanation, though I was not dead ! All former illegal methods of escaping resticted areas like trick&treat with personal attendant... never had effect on multiple players - (eg me) but I could be wrong.... I bet something new is lurking...

I know of a way people use to do this, like 10 years ago. Maybe it got re-enabled with a publish. I'll test it tonight and submit a bug report if it works.

couldnt get either to work.
i moved to different places for the one outside as well and still no.

Faction runes shouldn't work in dungeons, and the powerscrolls dropping if help stuck option is used is only if used in a champ spawn area. Then again I haven't played in almost a year so things might have changed.

I've seen items at events that, when double clicked, teleport one to a different location, for example the Final Dungeon Where the Big Bad Guy Is, but every instance I've seen of such a thing has been locked down and any player can click on it.

To grant such a teleport key to every player at an event would appear to be problematic due to the number of people such events typically attract.

I've also on rare occasions seen reward items with a spell effect, but the only useful spell effect I've seen was Invisibility, and that was only once. Nothing I've personally seen at or from an EM event causes the effect described.

I note that no further details were provided in that thread; the lack of details leads me to believe that this is yet another attempt to attribute things to EMs.

Any spell effect I can think of that would produce such an effect (teleport item; bracelet of binding; etc.), would likely be, if placed on an EM item, subject to the same limitations as the normal spell effect, and thus able to be duplicated by other mans, in any case.

The bottom line is that as long as parts of the game are competitive, player against player, under a "winner take all" or "winner take most" system, where ones abilities are judged against other players rather than against objective obstacles, we're going to have players who seek to find ways to get around any limitations the system assigns.

I forget what shard wide event this was but the item landed you at the same place near west brit bank on every shard. The event has long ended and no longer works.

Shard-wide isn't an EM event, though. I've seen some obvious collaborations and/or stealing ideas from each other, and I've seen all-game events that have a heavy EM involvement.

I don't know how I missed such an event though!

what i find strange is that i see a lot of people doing it, yet its not commonly out HOW to do it.
usually the pvp crowd isnt that good at keeping stuff to themselves.

The guy I see doing it on GL has avoided about a dozen deaths doing it and thats not much of an exageration. If that character is who I think it is, it doesnt surprise me one bit. Him and his guild get destroyed repeatedly on a consistant basis and he seems to devote his entire playstyle to house hiding, guard zone cowering, attempted guard whackings, running to elf city,and pretty much any other means of avoiding deaths. Hes been doing this as long as I can remember. Definately on my list of most cowardly in UO...ever. If there is a list of most cowardly/horrible players then he is defiantely numero uno. That is saying something too, considering some of the cowards we have running around on GL nowadays. That is all.

it is a frustrating bug/exploit isnt it.

while im not the best pvp'r in the world i do enjoy a nice tussle from time to time.
and having people pop out like that is a real let down.

This reminds me of years ago when friends and I chased an infamous PK through Shame. I won't name the person, but old-time Sonomans will remember his purported South American nationality, a country known for coffee beans and drugs.

He was using the infamous cheat program of the time, which had a "ghostwalk" feature. Tracking only told a direction then, no pinpointing arrow, and he was clearly moving around while hidden -- this was before the stealth skill was ever introduced. Finally he just disappeared. It was infuriating.

I think its better to report the bug and or exploit on these forums. actually I think all exploits and bugs should be openly shared on these forums. that way the player base knows how to use it and as such it stands the chance of being fixed that much quicker.

got a way to dupe a slither, share it with the community.
