Treasure map suggestion

In light of the additional changes to treasure map loot with the upcoming publish, as well as some of the increased difficulty in some of the revamped dungeons, I would like to suggest some addtional mobs which drop level 6 maps.

A few that come to mind would be anything that spawns on the lowest levels of shame, wrong, and covetous... As well as bosses like Andros and Cora. Certainly their difficulty is at least that of a paragon miasma.

I agree there needs to be more than 1 monster that drop lvl 6 maps. If not monsters then maybe quests.
what are the upcoming treasure map loot changes?

If I have understood correctly, maps will now include some of the resources for refinements.

Last line of first paragraph... Level 6. I am actually ok with the scarcity of level 7 maps, but think level 6 maps should have some additional sources besides paragon versions of their level 5 counterparts. If you were inclined to bump the boss level ones to a 7 that wouldnt hurt anyone's feelings.

I'd like to see them REDUCE the amount of junk in boxes and increase the odds of something decent. With the EC you can pick and choose and don't have to take it all out anyways so you are only going to pull 3-4 things with chances of spawning monsters. I'd like to see say a level 5 or 6 TMAP have the normal artifact/chance at alacrity etc and then have up to 5 items in it - one of those items has a chance to be a random artifact (TOT stuff, paragon arties whatever) and the rest is on the new loot system.

However, I'd really like to see the new loot system changed anyways. You should have it drop items that have more standard mods so you could fit them into a suit. As it stands - everything from new loot system is unraveled except for the random jewel that might have 3/1 casting or 10 or 5% SSI. One of the biggest mistakes of the new loot system was to much complexity and randomness creating items no one will use and too much focus on imbuing/reforging such that there is no longer any reason to hunt beyond ingredients. Once you have your ingredients - you craft all your suits at home. Imbuing should have NEVER allowed more than 1 or 2 custom properties per piece. The fact you can custom make an imbued item with EXACTLY the mods you want means no reason to hunt. Seriously. The days of 2-3 hours hunting blood eles for some good jewelry or weapons is gone. This has really really killed PVM and the fun for alot of players.

Or maybe even make the loot exceptional so we can imbue them to max intensity.

The number of items in a treasure chest should be reduced, and should contain "shame" loot. Amazing gear should come from Treasure maps and top tier bosses.

I mean, its a friggin' chest buried full of valuables, who would bury junk?

Well You could up the chance of a lvl 6 map in the loot table of a lvl 5 t map...

I do a LOT of T-maps. I do not look at a single item of the 70 or so in the chest. Having looked at the first 20-30 chest contents when the newer loot came in and finding ONLY junk, it became obvious that it wasn't worth the effort. In the EC I didn't have to actually physically take stuff out but due to the total JUNK I don't even bother to even cursor over the items any more.

I take the ingredients, gems, maps, regs and any arti like thing, ie mana orbs, pardons etc. After that the chest gets sunk. It really is a total waste of time putting 70 odd items in level 6+ chests. I would like ONE person to advise if they have EVER found any uber item worth keeping.

I also fish a lot and the same goes for those chests. I actually 'do' take the chests home and unravel and in the 300+ chests I have done since they got their new loot I have NEVER gotten a relic frag off any item unraveled so I guess that goes to show the quality of items you can find in a sunken chest as well.

Seriously don't know why they fill both tmaps and sos chests with such utter crap. I would rather have say 10 at the most items that had the chance of having a great piece or two to make it worth the effort to look through it.

I've often thought that and wondered exactly why people would bother burying this crap...... then it dawned on me..... They were burying their TRASH.... Not preserving the good stuff... Obviously these chests I dig up are the trash left over from something else... that was good.

Let T-Maps be random locations like they are now but when they are decoded give the cords like SoSs. Maybe more people would do them.

Well to answer the question is there anything good in t map chests and mib chests... not all have anything of worth that you would consider great...but there has been some that have given a very very good piece.
The odds of a great piece or a potential good one is there I have gotten many +20 lrc , a good handfull of 100% weapons, and there was that one stat item that had me drop my jaw.
Yes the chests are filled with junk, if you do not want them drop in luna.. there are people who will use them for imbueing gains or in haven some are still in need of stuff you might consider garbage... yes i know you havent seen a young in ages... but i have...

As for the maps as i suguested drop more in the level 5 chests or on the critters they spawn... I have found up to 4 maps out of one chest just by looting the kills. Early uo habits die very hard.... we loot everything and leave no stone unturned... makes for some heavy packies to haul it away but I do get frags off some of it...

Its the simple case of an outdated system. That's the big thing that makes me cringe when changes are made in UO, for every one thing added 5 get neglected that should also be tweaked and brought up to date with the aforementioned change. Test center should not be the end all it is, as soon as changes hit live shards its like the work is done for those changes. Don't publish it and forget it, publish it and readdress it after its actually live, post test center. Use the test center for bugs and major issues and then apply it to the actual servers, reevaluate in a week or two and tweak again. Don't address multiple changes until one idea is implemented and succesful. There are too many sticks in the fire.

Granted, you cannot please all but you can work to pleasing the majority. This is everything from loot, pvp, pvm etc. I can only imagine the nightmare with keeping a game fresh and balanced with a very limited staff however there is a way to take some strain off of the minds behind current UO without spending a penny.

A little research, a voting system etc should be utilized to bring unbiased heavy posting players with above average understanding of the game mechanics and complications when restructuring a game and those carefully selected players should be given access to a specific private forum where talks, comments, suggestions and feedback can be given on a small scale by people intelligent enough to handle the responsibility as an imaginative person and a selective voice of the general population. I can guarantee there would be droves of people willing to do this for free, the hardest part would be to decide who would be ideal candidates. You would need a representative from different playstyles to make this adequate as no one person's playstyle should affect everyone's playstyle. After all, and no insult to the hardworking dev team that battled college and life's obstacles to become an applied game designer, but sometimes educations put restrictions and boundaries on things and stifle creativity. Get feedback and advice from qualified players that know whats up yet lack the knowledge, training and true application and mix them with your trained skills. Let the dreamer's dream, and the creators create. Combine them and revive this game.

I got carried away, after all this far exceeds just treasure maps. Perhaps I should copy and paste this in a thread all its own, in fact I believe I will. Anyway, I hope my ideas are as sound as I believe them to be, and can spark something in the minds of others, or at least find like minded individuals.

Increase drop chances for chest for normal paragons.
make swoop drop chests with level 5 maps in then, just like miasma.

Is the inclusion of refinements ingredients the only change known to treasure chests' loot or will there also be a better chance to get better loot as in regards to other items in the chests ?

Also, are the details kn0wn about how refinements ingredients will be added ? Like how many in what level chest ? Is this also for fished up chests ?

I believe the new loot system should be in place of the current for both T-Maps and MIB's. With a little incentive:
Level 1-3 - Same as now with new loot
Level 4 - 5 (MIBs 1-3) - RNG Tweaked for 5% better chance of getting negative free(luck and curse) loot piece (1 Possible Piece)
Level 5 - RNG Tweaked for 10% better chance of getting negative free(luck and curse)(1 Possible Piece)
Level 6 - (MIB 4) -25% chance of getting 1 negative free(luck and curse)(1 Possible Piece)
Level 7 & Ancient SOS - 1 guaranteed negative free(luck and curse) and possibility of any artifiact drop(from slither to doom) even if it is .0001%

%'s can still be tweaked, but the goal is to provide us Treasure Hunters with a never ending reason to dig without flooding game with super pieces.
A guaranteed negative free and possible arty provides a never ending T-Hunt Career.
All pieces should still be brittle but start with durability of 150--kinda like replicas.

If you need coords to dig up a treasure chest, you shouldn't be a treasure hunter or even attempting to try to dig one up.

If you put the tmaps in a locker and open the locker with your cartographer, it displays the lat and long of the maps... which means you only have to find the degrees for the spot...
