Seems Ultima Codex found a video from the scrapped Ultima X, Odyssey and Massively put up some news about it.

See Ultima X: Odyssey in glorious action

by Justin Olivetti on Feb 25th 2013 6:00PM

One of 2004's most anticipated MMOs, Ultima X: Odyssey, was struck down by parent studio EA near to its completion date. The strong interest in this title coupled with the advanced state of its development has always been one of the most maddening "what if?" scenarios in the industry.

While it is slightly outside of our power to restore the Ultima X project and push it out the door, the folks over at Ultima Codex unearthed a 34-minute gameplay video to at least show us how this title looked in action. Clear out a half-hour and check out what could have been with the following footage!

[Thanks to John for the tip!]

That was horrible, everything I don't want uo to be

LOL.

At that time, it was close to being released and graphics are not like todays standard. Then again, the CC and EC are not up to todays standard. To each his own :)

Not sure if anybody noticed, but you could jump and swim. Swimming graphics are terrible though. I should add the graphics are not that bad for 2004.

The problem with UXO is the same thing that was likely going to plague UWO:O... it wasn't really the UO that we all came to love. Truthfully, they might have appealed to different audiences, and that would be fine... but a true successor to Ultima Online needs to be a sandbox with housing and skills in a fully realized 3D world, not some next-generation leveler. Neither UO sequel was going to offer that.

In hind sight, it was probably a good thing they didn't release it. I've seen better graphics with free games, much better.

Well, again, the year was 2004. No, not exactly top quality for 2004 either... but not horrific either. Polycount was hugely important in 2004, particularly in an MMO.

WoW was released later that same year, I think most people would have prefered WoW with the much better UI over this game.

I did like the whirl wind attack :)

Here is UO2. Though the graphics bite, I did like the city layout and the martial arts and acrobatics.
