So I play LS, and over the last two weeks have been well... boring and quite dull.
I have pretty much max out all of my character, worked all my virtues to max, cleaned and organized all the homes, even re-decoed one, but am waiting into the new pub comes out.
UO took my number one favorite money/fame working areas away when they redid Cove.
I even redid my main characters style I was so bored.
I am at a loss to find something to keep my entertained.
Any ideas?

my dull rant over / lol

Not just for pvp`rs. Also has been see`in quite the up swing in population.

I personally can`t find a boredom buster on a regular shard. It just gets way to boring when you have everything and can go months without dying to even a critter. As my name suggests, I played LS too.

1) Get into PvP.... "High-End" for PvP is pretty much unlimited gold so you will always have a goal.

2) Get 120 in every skill on all characters... (I did this on my main shard just for giggles)

3) Setup an imbuer & PvM character of your choice on EVERY shard you play. It never hurts to have options .

4) Start a "Clean Legendary" collection heh. You'll be farming Shame / Cove / Wrong like a madman & it's profitable / fun.

5) Collect Full Soulstones.... I think I have 50 but honestly can yo EVER have enough?

ALWAYS something to do in UO...

Heck... if you haven't bad a Billion Yet then do so ..... then you gotta stack 1,000 Mill checks on your roof & take a screen just to say you have heh.

1. Farm a golden shovel / pickaxe in Cove... (might take months)
2. Farm a pair of Animated Leggings of the Insane Tinkerer (might take months, too)
3. Check all Facets on all shards for Idocs (...and send me a PM where I can pickup the completed runebooks)
4. Write a blog about your ingame life and UO-history - and design a website to communitacte it
5. Design 3-4 ingame player-events (e.g. auction, silent auction, quiz show) - and invite us all!
6. Banksit and listen to the GC for a while - give ironic comments...
7. Help newbs to solve their problems
8. Sort BoDs and try to get your hands of elite kits - then design greater reforged items - and gimme those as a present!
9. Install a free x-shard-transfer service for other players
10... Heck, there is soooo much to do, I have to stop writing. Work awaits me!

You could write a thoughtful, heartfelt petition to Mesanna and the dev team, asking them to think about all the poor players on Great Lakes who are suffering greatly because there is too much lag. Explain that since you do not play on Great Lakes your petition should be weighed more heavily due to its altruistic nature.

I get bored at times also but there is always something new to attempt. Look at the list that others have mentioned and see what you haven't done. Farming shame will provide you with hours of frustration and annoyance, I can assure you of that.

Totaly I mean totaly confussed on how to give advice to the OP on this because there is so many things to do in UO that in almost 15 yrs I have never had this happen. How in the world did you manage to do everything in UO that there is to do?

Does LS still have an RP community?

If not, other shards do.

The thing to remember about UO is that it's an ongoing experience, and you're with your characters all the time. As a player the list of things to do is nearly infinite.

What we mean when we say we're bored and have nothing to do, therefore, is one or more of the following.

  1. My characters, for the moment, have everything they need or want, and mostly feel like sitting in front of the fire, sipping ale. While this is great for the characters, it makes things dull for me as a player.
  2. I, as a player, have grown a tad stale on things I personally like to do.
The solution to 2 is either to take a break from the game (play a browser game for awhile; read some fantasy or medieval/renaissance history for inspiration; etc.), or to find new things you like to do. (New shard. New template. If you're like me, you have never had a crafter, so one day I may make one just to have the experience. New dungeon or area; like the others have said there's stuff in the Abyss it kinda sounds like you have never experienced.)

The solution to 1 is either a different character, or different experiences on the same character (for examples, see solutions to 2, or have the character broaden its horizons, or join an active RP community). Or let the character rest and have another hobby for a little bit until you feel like coming back. (See solutions to 2.)

What I find myself doing when I want to play and nothing I typically like to do appeals to me is either work the new Despise sub-game on an alt, or take Galen out and have him patrol. This means wander the main cities and main crossroads areas, checking on things. Sometimes I find random spawn to kill that's wandered into a place it shouldn't. (Leftover t-map spawn; leftover EM event spawn that wandered away and never died in the fight; if there's a global event going on I can stumble into global event content; etc.) As a roleplayer I have the luxury of "well, if nothing else, Galen can always go out and patrol." Sometimes I meet people; a luxury of playing on Great Lakes which is still quite well-populated.

I'm with Frodo you couldnt have done it all........................
If you feel you have my suguestion is to pick another shard and visit them for a few weeks and get to know the place and its people. Who knows you might have a second home shard. Siege is a great place to start not everyone has to pvp live a little and explore your inner UO

I have the same problem, also all i like todo champs, peerless, monsters in the abyss are out of date not even a chance to get a good income and the new monsters have much hitpoints and are booring. PvP is good but how when there are not enough players?

There is so much to do in this game..

I did my first solo level 7 map last night.. On Siege.. On my red... Where I died to 2 frost dragons and got looted by some newbie player, while annoying, joke was on him since its faction dyed! So I had to re-equip and go back at it again.. Good times..

Two things come to mind....
#1 is what Frodo said above.
#2 Perhaps you've set your sight's a bit too high...

Have you slain a paragon of each type of creature in Ilshinar? Have you stocked up on dragon scales for smithing for when the new publish is released? Have you gotten your desired characters up to Baron or Baroness for when we can run for Ambassador in the cities? There are many things that can be done in the game. It is up to you to be creative with what you do in the game.Don't expect to always to be spoon-fed.

Thanks for all the input, over my meany years I have over looked the smaller things.
I myself never have gotten into the abyss but will give it another shot.
I did try to PVP again. That was a total fail. Black screen in 5 seconds. If anyone is on LS I would be more then happy to talk and learn lessons on PVP, haven't done it seance AOS
I do not expect to be " spoon fed " and laugh at the idea that someone would want to be.
I almost always just PVM but now I can solo almost anything expt a champ. I think I will pull out the provo / t-hunter and see what comes about.

I would be more then happy to do group functions or hunts, its hard for me as in " real life " I work in a bar so work mostly nights, to night being a rare time when I am off. So during MY peak hours of play its pretty dead on LS.
I may even give a shot at doing a vendor mall.

Well if your quitting then I'll be happy to take care of all your "stuff". ;)

On a serious note take up fishing! Unless you have already. It's one of the only skills I never tried so I started last weekend and totally love it!

A totally different (some may say boring) type of play style.

I agree, try Siege. I went there last November instead of quitting UO and it's a great shard. I think Siege is what Richard Garriott had in mind when he created UO.
And to the ones, who believe Siege is a shard filled with devils, where only hardcore PvP'ers can survive, Tanivar prove you wrong.
Tanivar and many other Siege do not PvP at all but do great on Siege, that be from running shops, being famed crafters, killing mobs, fishing, tresure hunting or anything else you can do on normal shards.

Now, why would a non PvP'er choose Siege?
The community on Siege is different, it's hard to explain, you have to try it.
Our economy is much more healty
Our NPC's don't buy anything and only sell very few thing so that help trading between the players
No item insurance may sound bad but if you lose your suit, you at least have something to do with getting a new one or making sure you always have backup suits.
When players sometimes have to replace their gear, it make work to crafters like Tanivar.

Interact with other players never get boring, special not, when they need you. Sure you may risk dying on Siege but is not that bad.

The fact, that Siege have same ruleset on all facets do effect the gameplay and force players to find a way to get along.

I can totally relate to the OP. I've been on and off in UO since 1997. I haven't subscribed to UO since 2010. One thing I notice it's who you play with that makes all the difference in the world. If you play with a healthy active guild, they keep you coming back for more. If you spend a lot of time playing lone wolf style, you may bore easily. Freja has me intrigued by Siege. The rule set sounds like early UO. And in early UO, that was a tough game. Players leaned on each other to survive. If Siege is truly like that, I may give it a shot. :)

As Dag Nabbit leaned towards on the scales. With what is coming having a hoard of Tmaps and SOSs is a must. Also having a few chest full of combined 100 charge runics wont hurt. Smith and Carp. Nothing more relaxing then making stools in the elf city for quest. Well at least untill the stealth scripter shows up and starts sawing and hammering. Nothing more fun then dumbing down your gear and makings friends with a new player. Exploring the land together as newbs and reliving the early days of the UO experience through another players eyes.

Collecting full set of fancy and dull paragon chest from rare ore elementals. Set being right ore color to the ore type of eli chest. Also from LS and I combat mine the Honor and Valor gate. Also the pixie spawn north of the Meer village and the Swoop area gets you some pixie cover when an eli spawned. Also the ingots, Blackrock, Crystal Blackrock and Salt Peter doesn't hurt.

Turn the blackrock infesting back on. Carry Blackrock or not to infest respawns and invising creatures is a players choice. Having a choice Blackrock infested chest of favorite hunted critter is priceless trophy. What would a Blackrock Infested Slasher chest go for?

I have never gotten bored in UO, not once since December 1997. Here is the problem most people have. They buy gold, pay for advanced characters, and use illegal 3rd party programs to max out skills. It makes the game too easy and boring. I am not saying that is what the OP did, but its the secret underlying culprit in most cases. I have taken breaks from the game, or I just do something new. I made a character that is always in horrific beast form, I put a bracelet of health and all the heath regen gear I could find. It was fun roleplaying him, and working his skills from zero. I have stopped passing off good gear to new toons, I make them actually hunt for gear while working skills. I am currently working on my first Mystic/stealth/thrower. I am also transforming my new Tel-Mur house plot into a great big awful evil citadel.

I will put on a mask of orcish kin and hang out in fel. Try to run doom solo. And my personal favorite... finding new ways to murder macro miners!

There is always something fun to do in UO!

Pet s ..... You forgot the S. Try a pack disco tamer. Frenzy - hellhounds - predator hellcats (come in rare colors). It take a huge learning curve to use a pack. Most mage tamers are stuck with only knowing how to hunt by having their nose up some huge meatshield's butt. Go that way as an archer tamer. Nothing like having a meatshield with an archer. What makes a pet leathal for a disco tamer is pets not wasting time casting or breathing fire. Shame the darkwolves that spawned with the dreads had not been allowed. Not like their is a huge number pack tamers out there.

Sometimes I feel I have nothing to do, but I feel that this is more my fault then anything else. I am in a great guild so I can find something to do with them. I know there some quests, nothing like other games I've played but there are some :) I think my biggest hurdle is the fear of dying. I fail to try do things cause I do not like to die :) But I am working on that :)

Kill Cora, then come here and tell us how you did it.

At least some Event Moderators do ongoing storylines over a period of time -- I know GL does and from posts it appears as though others do. That'll give you a couple of things a month, at minimum, to do, and potentially at least something to think about in-character when you feel like playing but do not feel like logging in. (Thinking can count as playing.)

Try and get literally 1 of everything there is, everything obtainable, and open up a museum.

Become a DJ for UO Radio which it appears has returned.
