New Token/Stone Idea

So I was thinking today about transferring pets between characters on the same account and had an idea. What if we took the vollem held in a crystal and reversed it. Similar to transferring a skill, we could bind a pet inside a token/stone/crystal. The token could have a gump that displays the type of pet and its attributes. It could be account bound if folks think it would be prone to abuse, but I can think of several practical applications.

1. The ability to trade a pet between characters on the same account.
2. The ability to transfer a pet between shards when you do not want to transfer the tamer.
3. The ability to sell a pet on a vender (easier than Magincia Bazaar).
4. The ability to store legacy or rare pets someplace besides the stables.

Other ideas? Hazards?

Hazards EA wanting $9.95 for this.
Make it craftable by a Mason/Tamer combo char. (Soulstones for the win)

No, Id rather have to have 120 carp to make something like this than have 35 (or more) taming. Bad enough to make stuff like hitching posts i have to stone off something then go out and buy the skill to craft a few.

No to number 3. Magincia needs more love as it is.

On something like this I was more thinking along the lines that what ever type of pet it was you had to have 100 Carp and the required Taming skill to control it. When you crafted this the pet would have to be there and be part of the requirments.

Pets should be as easy to trade, store and transfer as other items IMHO. We currently have a very restrictive stable system, a restricted vendor option and restrictions transferring between characters on the same account and xsharding. I have always found a way to work around most of these restrictions, but I don't agree that they are necessary.

The devs seem totally uninterested in extending stable space, yet many of us now have rare and novelty pets, battle chickens, you name it. I have nothing stored in my house right now so really, it's daft that I can't use that space for pets where others would store weaponry. So for that purpose alone, I think we should have the option to store pets in crystals. If the crystals are craftable, alchemists with their glass blowing skill seem a good candidate. But I would be happy for it to be purely skill based requiring real taming/lore skill to finally give an advantage to tamers who trained up.

Magincia was held back by the devs insisting on making pet vendors something you had to buy in the Origin store. Had they been available to all, more tamers would use them. If they opened that up, then allowed crystal trading on vendors, Magincia would still be the Luna of pet trading. Neither vendors or customers like extra effort these days. So the convenience of a central market is always going to be preferred over promoting your own shop or recalling around malls.

It would be great if we could keep pets bonded in a crystal and trade them between our characters or just store less used ones at home. I don't mind waiting to bond pets with another char on the same account, but it would be handy if I'd already bonded with that pet and my other char could use it right away. Nice gold sink opportunity there methinks :)

Rather than just crystals though, it would be lovely if we could have a statuette mode for these pets to display them and tell them apart. Some will likely have a dread horse collection lol, but I'd just appreciate them looking like pets and being able to see what was what. I'd have preferred a better stabling system, but I suspect that won't happen. Crystals may be the next best alternative.

:thumbsup:Nice write up.
I really like the statue idea better then the crystal idea. Totally agree with the real skill for Tame/Lore and you know a Vet would be needed too. Gotta have someone to monitor pet while he goes sleepy by. They could even add a special book sold by a NPC, one time use. As far as locking them down in the home, yes. Something along the line of 2 x control slot so a GD would take 10 lockdowns. There are some things that do not need the easy mode and this should be one of them. I would like this idea better then say giving us a lot more stable slots. Isn't our claim list long enough as is? LOL
