These Conjurer items are always on sale albiet at a high price. They are not out of reach for a new player working the right spawns and selling items to buy the Garbs or whichever item of their choosing.Well lets face it in light of most changes the only artifacts that anyone really wants anymore are:
Sliver
Lavallier
Orny
Hat of the Magi (some not all)
Despicable Quiver
Compassions Eye
Most other arties are now worthless. The only other things people ALWAYS want are the luck garb which you can't get anymore, the Rangers Cloak of Augmentation again you can't get anymore... Conjurers Trinket... again can't get anymore... These 3 things are things that honestly are an unfair advantage to other players who can no longer obtain them in anyway and the properties they give can not be found on anything similar.... Same with the Dread Warhorse it's an unfair advantage to certain players that quite honestly only now benefits those who have duped them or those who horded them.... and still can sell them for an extremely ridiculous amount of gold that new or returning players are NEVER going to have. Lets face it these are just a few of the unfair things that cause new or returning players to become frustrated and bitter over.... and may eventually cause them to HATE the game even more next time they quit. Now that Luck counts and means more it's an advantage that seriously should NOT be so rare or impossible to obtain. Rangers Cloak... While yes you can now get such things on a ring perhaps..... the only thing that gives SSI on a cloak spot now is the Quiver.... Which doesn't have any other good properties for NON-archers. So once again Unfair advantage and if you tell me I can get SSI on Jewels I must then say YES and I can wear Jewels, have it on my weapon AND have the Cloak as well giving me that much more... Which they can not.... Conjurers Trinket allows me to remove the need for Undead slayer on my weapon allowing me to put that much more of a smack down on undead than other players who don't have one...
The Dread Warhorse is by FAR better than any other 3 slot pet... That Bane Dragon is ok but it's slow compared to the Warhorse it's nothing.... and you can't get either one of them anymore. Which in my opinion is totally WRONG.
And I'm going to bring this up yet again artifacts..... lesser and greater should be imbuable..... There is NO reason why we shouldn't be allowed to imbue useless artifacts to add some sort of use to them.
Yes and my sampire still runs around in a Violet Courage. The point of Malagaste still stands though, that only a small fraction of the artifacts are considered useful. Thus making many activities in UO unappealing to engage in, as the rewards are simply not there (anymore). While many of the truly interesting artifacts are event items, which have been discontinued. Not much of a problem by itself, if only there were obtainable items with somewhat similar stats. Add a robe with 140 luck and 5 SDI or 5 HCI, either as a permanent spawn or as a reward for an event that occurs every 6 months or so.Oh, there are many very useful arties, you forgot, malag aste: tangle, crimson cincture, hephaestus, animated leggings, inquisitors, shadow dancer leggings, crystalline ring, mace and shield glasses, royal investigator cloak, lieutenant sash and many many more. Cannot agree to your note that all other artie than those you named are worthless...
This is - no offense - nonsense. And quite negativistic. It is nonsense to compare violet Courage with the items I named: tangle, crimson cincture, hephaestus, animated leggings, inquisitors, shadow dancer leggings, crystalline ring, mace and shield glasses, royal investigator cloak, lieutenant sash. I forgot about 10-15 other very useful items. The point of Malagaste still stands though, that only a small fraction of the artifacts are considered useful.
I was serious with the violet courage on the sampire, it's actually not as useless as it looks, even though it's getting a bit dated. It's definately something that I wouldn't be ashamed to give to new players. This is - no offense - nonsense. And quite negativistic. This does not mean, however, that you are wrong if you state that there is a large number of items which are absolutely worthless today. I agree. Make them imbueable. But I stay on my ground: Saying that there are only 6 useful items (including hat of the magi, which is not as useful as many of the arties I named), is nonsense.
Let me please note that I really agree with you and Malag Aste in many points and many posts. But there are HEAPS of AWESOME artifacts out there. HEAPS!
A demonic Crisis Vanquisher while yes cool does NOT effect your gameplay.... it does NOT give you any unfair advantage over someone else. And MOST new players are going to hate UO immediately after realizing that they will have to farm gold somehow spending the next 2 years or more non-stop farming to afford something like a Conjurers garb..... which by the time they farm up that much gold and take that much time will be even MORE rare and cost 10X as much ....... so they will get angry, frustrated and QUIT. Is that what we want???These Conjurer items are always on sale albiet at a high price. They are not out of reach for a new player working the right spawns and selling items to buy the Garbs or whichever item of their choosing.
I can't get Daemonic Crisis Vanquisher statuettes or other items at EM events either. Should we make those available again to everyone as well?
There should be some benefit to have been playing Ultima Online over the years and participating in the game during various stages. None of the items you mentioned are must have items but rather items players strive for. You can certainly create viable templates without those items.
Also, someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm pretty sure Double Undead Slayer will stack. Undead Slayer Adds +100% Damage so if you have two items your doing +200% will still under the 300 Cap.
Many of the artifacts have become worthless because of the introduction of the new items via the Anti-Virtue dungeons and Faction Artifacts.
Constantly re-doing items to make them viable again seems to create more and more powerful items and it's really starting to get out of control.
Those shame artifacts trump the items of almost all the Champion Bosses and Peerless.
Recipes to create some of the artifacts as suggested by Logrus is a good idea to revamps,as is adding more ingredients to remove useless properties from items and armor.
Peerless should drop the best loot in the game imo.
A new player can create any numerous number of viable templates (tamer, Mystic, Sampire, Thrower) that are capable of farming High End items that sell for BIG BUCKS. Certain Marks of Travesty sell for 50M, Slither 150M, Any Peerless Crimson Cinture 30M. Cash in any of those items and your well on your way to getting those Conjurer items.A demonic Crisis Vanquisher while yes cool does NOT effect your gameplay.... it does NOT give you any unfair advantage over someone else. ANY ITMES That offer unfair advantage or an advantage over other players should STILL be obtainable in some way. Not just giving billions in gold to dupers who've duped them to no end. THAT is what I'm talking about.A new player can create any numerous number of viable templates (tamer, Mystic, Sampire, Thrower) that are capable of farming High End items that sell for BIG BUCKS. There are too many ways to list to make money in this game. Any player that pays their dues can get their hands on high value items, liquidate them, and buy another high end of their choosing i.e. Conjurer Items.
Furthermore any new player can farm resources and ingredients that over time will provide them with enough revenue to purchase High End items if they save their gold.
Those Conjurer items are still available. They are popping up all the time and again these are not must have items that create an imbalance.
Yes I like my Conjurer's Garb and Trinket but if I tossed them in the trash today they aren't going to prevent me from tackling any High End monsters in the game.
I would generally agree except for slots where you cannot imbue. I've long thought we need a way to imbue robes, cloaks/quivers, sashes, and boots with up to 50 intensity to give a middle ground between the uber artifact clothes and plain non-magic items. The only other Arties I look at are those with mods I cannot imbue like glasses with HLD or the Orny with FC 2.Imbuing has leveled the playing field and allowed virtually anyone in the game to get access to high end gear in order to fight monster or bosses. I think 90% of the suits I run these days are imbued and void of artifacts.
There are just too many ways to make money in UO and everyone can carve out their own niche and save up to buy whatever is is they want.
New players can't learn how to sell imbuing ingredients or do treasure maps?
Essentially what I'm hearing you say is the average player isn't willing to put in the time or pay their dues in order to get whatever items it is they seek. If the average player isn't willing to do more for themselves to get the gear they want then the average player needs to settle for average gear.
I guarantee then you aren't doing as well as most... and you can't argue that I can imbue a cloak or robe or even have a talisman that I didn't have to work really hard for. Those things all give advantage over others. And yes I can find crap in dungeons with really good mods...... If I want to spend all day redoing my armor because I went somewhere and got half my **** looted by some mob..... Try doing a champ spawn with creatures that loot in cursed gear.... 9x out of 10 you will NEVER see your items again..... mostly because the decay rate at a champ is WAY high.... your stuff will be gone before you can get rezed and back to your corpse.... Then what do you do???? Your SOL....I would generally agree except for slots where you cannot imbue. I'm sorry, but I don't understand your reply. I was agreeing with Madrid's statement that imbuing has generally leveled the playing field. I agree with that except for the talisman, robe, cloak, sash, shoe, and belt slots where your only options are non-magical items or the very expensive (and in some cases no longer able to be earned) artifacts. There is no middle ground for those six slots except maybe talismans.I guarantee then you aren't doing as well as most... and you can't argue that I can imbue a cloak or robe or even have a talisman that I didn't have to work really hard for. Oh on that we can completely agree.... the drop rate on stuff in STUPID Rare..... which to me is just plain stupid and makes no sense at all... people don't and won't spend half their lives farming for junk in a game. They want to play and have fun.... and part of having fun is being able to "compete"... and survive and collect... Not grind away for hours repeating the same crap over and over and over and over and over and over until at some crazed points when all the moons align and the stars are in their apex of nigh and the planet is spinning in a new direction you get a drop you've waited for for the last 16 months of constant grinding..... only to do it over again for the next 16 months so you can outfit your other character...As I've posted elsewhere, a lot of these item slots (belt, cloak, etc.) need more to them than just one or two artifacts. But at this point I'm over wanting to ask this dev team for anything. They'll spice the Doom artifacts up with a bunch of worthless assassin honed evil mana burst ephemeral spell focusing garbage properties, lower the drop rate to 0.000001%, and require some sort of drawn-out idiot ritual to get in.
