Question regarding EA Game Cards

I walking through one of the local stored that I frequent, and noticed some $20 EA Game Cards on one of the racks. The packaging suggests that they are able to be used on the Origin store site, so I'm guessing we can buy 30 day game codes using these...But yet, I still wonder:

Has anyone tried using them?

Successes? Failures?

I appreciate any info that anyone may have on the subject.

From what I heard they don't. Now they may have changed this since this was brought up before but it would be nice if they have changed it where you can.

They work like cash and I have used them plenty of times with no problem.

You enter the code on the card it checks the validation then credits your account for the value as you check out.

Simple stupid.
