Taking over a guild?

Our guild leader has gone awol, and has been for 2 years now, i have done a search to see if there is a way to take over the guild but it returns with too many answers.

Is it possible for somebody active to take over our guild as our GM has been awol for 2+ years now?

Click on Guild Roster. Click the jewel next to the name you wish to make new guild leader. And choose vote for....

Your members need to vote for a new leader. I believe it is something around 2/3 of the members need to vote for you. You must also remember htat if more than 1/3 of the members are inactive, you will never be able to get the vote.

The system doesn't count people who haven't logged in for 30 days toward the voting totals.

If an active member has emissary powers they may need to clean house first before a coupe can take place.

Unless someone in the guild can add new members to get the count up. If you have volunteers, you can add them long enough for the vote to pass - then remove them.

Thanks for all the answers guys, Its a sad thing to have to do this to our leader, but she has been gone for 2 years, and we havent had any contact at all for a good portion of that. If she returns she can have the guild back in a heartbeat

Recently did this.
You need 2/3 of the votes. Ronins and people that have not logged on for 30 days doesn't count. Also, the vote is not immediate, it may take at least an hour before the leadership is changed.

My char is leader now, luckily, the only chars that had logged on were my own

I thought this was changed to automatic a few patches back?

From what i understood after 90 days inactive the next in charge was supposed to auto get the gm title?

Only by convincing the active members of alliance guilds to hold a coup and take over with a new GM.

But does it work like a guild where you can vote in a new alliance leader? Where is that menu located?

I would love to see Guild stones in game again and Alliance stones added.
