Mining in atl - and gm call..

I love GM's.. but this is a strange thing.

I got a house holding acc, ive not used for over a year. I started to pick up mining on it, and ran around termur mining, recalling home when i got full. Marked rune where i was so I just continued it.

But - then I got a red message, so I reply... and i got a bit 'wtf' - cuz he lectured me of illegal programs. And he could say that I had used it the last 24 hrs - wich is impossible, the char was totally new and ive not used that acc for over a year.

He kept lecture me, and said this is just a warning - but if I keep use that illegal program i will be banned.

Im still little stunned, cuz - if he had watched me, he could see i mark every spot and i run around mining recal home and emty the bag. And with 1 rune and 1 runebook - it should be no doubt.

I love the GM's on atl - ive encountered them a few times they ask if I am there or if I am a bot. But this is kinda over agressive.

This must be an example of them knowing who is and who isn't "cheating". And while we're at it, I think that NPC by the NorthWest exit out of Makoto-Jima city was making yo momma jokes and shouting profanities for not taking their quest as you ran by. Somebody should really check that after all these years.

Hrmm, just another case, if you were really "not" using an illegal program. Some GM's seem to not care and ban people anyway, regardless if they are doing it legitimately or illegally.

A friend of mine was banned for 72 hours about a year or so ago my friend and I were farming for Blaze Cu-Sidhe's cause we were bored. and then he just disappeared, the GM said "such and such program has been detected, and he got banned for 3 days".

Then just the other day another friend on Atl was banned for 2 days for using the same unmentionable program, Whether or not they were using it, is a different story but, I know many people who use it (and others) and they've been paged on before.

So this just leads me to believe some of these GMs just "Guess" and hope they got it right.
If there was a real way to prove it, then so be it.

Until then, That is how I see it.

Nah, some one saw you recalling in and out thus paging on you. I'd be shocked if he watched you for more than one cycle of filling up your pack and just guessed that you were a bot. I'd really call yourself luck you managed to reply and didn't just end up in the pen.

uo can be a real rat ship at times. i usually go out of my way to stop what im doing if im macroing something and another player comes by and stops. meaning stop what im doing and start a pointless conversation so i can show this p.c. policeman that im not unattended.

No worries, Blizzard banned many people from Diablo 3 for Botting about a month or so ago, because they had over a certain amount of hours played, then Blizzard compensated the people who were wrongfully banned, with a new account AND unbanning their main accounts (after further investigation)...

But hey it could be worse, EA/UO could have Punk-Buster like Blizzard does, and still have bots playing the game for people.

I had this problem once. I was getting justice for a spawner killing another character on another account. All of a sudden I am transported to jail and I the GM said I was using an illegal third party program. I was not even using uo assist. I got a warning even though there was no reason. I emailed everyone under the sun about it and seems no one cared. Reminds of of the time they reverted atlantic for 2 weeks and I lost $75 from the EA store on codes that got reverted. I called twice and emailed/submitted tickets on the theft of my $75 but seems customer service does not come with a ultima online subscription.....

Hmm...im a bot fizzle like 15-20 times when i mark the damn rune for to recal home...and my mining wasnt more than 70sh...or less..

I would understand if i recal in and out every min...but...sry...not that..

I`d file a complaint about this GM`s behavior with whoever ya file those with. Totally inappropriate. I prolly would have been sittin for 3 days because I would not have taken his lecture about cheating in stride....especially since I wasn`t cheating. If ya caught me doing something,sure get on your soap box,but since ya didnt.... you can STFU now. That GM doesn`t need to be serving any more people in UO since he is utterly clueless as to what constitutes botting and how ya`d know it if someone was. For one thing you actually can observe someone for awhile and know for sure who is and isn`t scripting/botting. For example,perfectly timed actions versus lots of fizzles and irratic behavior.

I have been threatened to be called on while lumberjacking and mining due to the fact that most of the time I recall in and out. I have made books for lumberjacking and mining that seem to be on the lines of multiple veins, so I use them most of the time. But for some reason many people think that anyone that does this by recalling in and out is botting. This may be true for some (maybe many, I really have no clue) but not all and it does get upsetting being threatened multiple times for it, especially when you can answer the people. Geez, if I was a bot would I be there and answer them?

Don't get upset but there is no way a random GM showed up to you recall mining. I don't care if you were botting with a low level mage or doing it all by hand but the only reason this happened is because someone decided to page on you, plain and simple. If someone is in a house beside you they might not see the fizzle and only see you come and go for 20 mins or the 3 hours it takes a GM to show up.

Why do i think your mining in fel? Use a packie that is bonded to you and have it follow...... moe ore and gm's dont bug players with one as its not impossible to run a bot but not easy to do it with one ................ GM's are fickle creatures and Atl is their last hold out in UO space. Perhaps you had a second program runing on the comp (a mantence thing ) and it registered as a non allowed program. That program UO bought into is known for bugs and errors galore.

The GM's appear to be running behind with slow responses lately. Since you were on a new character on an older re-actived account, it leaves me wondering if the GM was not referring to something done on a linked account maybe the night before.

This is not intended as an accusation - merely an attempt to look outside the immediate box for a potential cause to help determine what the GM thought he saw.

Not really, I never use them.
But knoing how the cheating public is...... I have no doubt that some have figured out how to go around the rules and not get detected..... It's nothing to be proud of to cheat the system.

What stunnes me is, he got the guts to tell me Im using it when im struggling to work up my skills with normal macros. I tried to explain to him that the most advanced i got was uo assist. But - he kept lecture me of this not to be talked about program.

To the bottom line, this acc is not linked to my own mystic acc - and the person owns it, havent played for months. I had aprox 2 -3 hrs gametime this very morning on that account, and before that its only a house holder acc that has never been played at all.

The attitude to the GM was very wrong from the start and very aggressive. I replied insta when he talked to me, but I got no thank you im there. Just a big lecture. Im running uo assist to use item tool - last target.

My concerns leans towards the attitude and accusations with no hold at all. From my understanding of the toc and tos, as long im there and answering a gm call - i should be fine. Still I got a warning on the account he said.

If he gave me a warning, he should have some reasons to do that - not because im running around mining. Mark, recal home to unload then recal back. And I did answer his msg within seconds. Or is it just illegal to play nowdays?

Actually - they do have that right. You granted them the right when you agreed to the UO Terms of Service and Rules of Conduct.

Actually as someone pointed out, it wasn't from agreeing to the Terms of Service and Rules of Conduct, but instead failing to follow up and read the new updated ToS and continuing to play the game. Also, the current language is sketchy at best on what rights EA has reserved for itself for as far as monitoring your CPU while logged into the game. I would always suggest to not use illegal programs, but then again, there current language leaves room to beat them.

I love how a Stratics mod's comment infers I am now a cheater due to my comment. It has nothign to do with being a cheater. It has everything to do with being in law. Think before you categorize Tazar. Shame on you for making suck a loose categorization of people.

My besty is the character that recalls under the Papua bank at all hours the day. Having a talk with them at the Vesper museum on how much a pain it is gathering enough wood for points was a highlight.

I always find it funny to watch the same posters trolling these threads with the same comments. It's evident by whats said here, and in past posts which of you utilize this program, knowing it is in fact forbidden by the game you play. Sometimes you are there to back up your fellow 3rd party users, but most often you instigate a fight or a rash if word battles to shut the thread down.

I'm looking forward to a rash of these types of posts as the warnings begin.
