In the past PvP threads it was pointed out how in Tram greifing happens a LOT more than in Fel, because there is nothing you can do about it. When that was pointed out a lot of posters said it was a "lie" Fel players come up with to make us feel better.

Well I decided to share my expierence that just happened tonight to show it does happen and we don't just make this stuff up.

I have been making a new PvP character and I have all of the skills completed except for poisoning and resist, so I decide to take it easy tonight and work resist. Even though I worked all of his other skills in Fel I decided to head to Haven to work resist the quick and easy way. So off I go to gather 6 spectral spell binders and start gaining. After about 20 minutes of good gains along comes Candance. The second this player stops at where I am at I speak to this player so it is obvious I am not AFK. Well Candance decides to use her sweet blaze of death weapon and kill the spellbinders. Once this happens off I go to gather more and I head back to the same spot. Once I get back there another character, Perry (I would be willing to bet it is the same player) comes along and throws conflag pots on the new spellbinders and kills them with his bow. At this point I politly ask him to stop since I am trying to gain skill so he decides follow me around and kill the spellbinders I am gathering, with out saying a word. At this point my frustration is mounting so I run a few screens away and I gather 6 or 7 more. I bring them back to my orgional location just to have Candance show back up and kill them yet again.

So I spend 30 minutes in Tram for the first time in God knows how long, and a lovely player makes it impossible for me to acheive my goal. Yup Tram is GREAT!!!! I LOVE not being able to work a skill when I want how I want.

***EDIT*** And before it gets out of hand I am not saying EVERY Tram player does this, infact I know it is a select minority that does, but the same is said for the "nasty PvPers" that only trash talk in GC. The vast majority don't, but a few bad apples have ruined it for everyone.

15 Years of this stuff in game and you're surprised? Seriously?!

Just go find something else to do if someone in game is bothering you... Some players just like to cause grief... Don't let them. Just recall back to your house and do something else or work your skills in another location. There's a million things you can do in UO.

Don't let these players get to you :)

This is exactly why we need more rewards in Tram to draw people in to make it worth it ... As we can see from above there is the risk now where is our reward!

Now lets say you were farming mobs in Fel and someone came along and killed you would you post here complaining ?

Just because you gather mobs dont make them yours ...When you gather mobs like that and dont kill them then it keeps other players from enjoying those same mobs .. Just as people are meant to be killed in Fel mobs are meant to be killed in all facets..

The other night, an EM event on Great Lakes was subject to repeated attempts by Fel players to delay and grief the event, including standing on or near the EM-controlled character to smack talk to each other, to ridicule the event, to complain it was going on too long, to make fun of roleplaying. When others asked them, a little too politely to stop, the responses were predictable: Chill bro! u mad bro? etc.

This is a semi-regular occurrence on Great Lakes, and I've heard of people from other shards coming to Great Lakes and commenting on how comparatively quiet the events are and how people are polite and go with the event. (I particularly hard this from people who cross-sharded around to visit the different coronations of Lord Blackthorn.) To me this suggests rather strongly that at least some other shards have it even worse than Great Lakes.

Now, again, you point to one occurrence --and let us remember that just because it occurs in Trammel doesn't mean it's a Trammel player doing it (anyone remember the website "Felucca's Revenge" which described guild-killers in Trammel in heroic terms? anyone remember a prominent poster's announced wish to rob from Trammel players by joining their guilds? anyone remember a prominent Fel guild on LS posting a series of posts called "Operation: Betrayer" bragging about joining a big Trammel guild in order to bring harm to it? all of these were actions taking place in Trammel, to harm other players, undertaken by Fel players) -- and say "Ha! See?"

I, by contrast, point to a long series of actions.

You point to one occurrence and say "Ha! See?"

I point go a string of occurrences and say "this is a norm. I see a consistent pattern, one that reflects an ideology of vicious competition of which most Fel players are proud adherents."

You point to one occurrence and say "Ha! See?"

This is Stratics, so doubtlessly the minority of players who happen to regularly post and read here will consider you to be in the right.

Well I'm going to guess that your ON GL's.... the particular person you mentioned seems to make being a griefing pissant a playstyle.... and honestly it's people like that that when I look around and see just how few people are about playing I just say..... you know this is why no one is around...... Joyous nice helpful happy people like that just make this game so much fun...... And we wonder why no one plays? We wonder why people have left in droves???

Check posts like "I was Scammed".... etc.... I've come back to UO but I can't log in..... I can't get past the set up and can't restart my account...... well just keep adding to the pile stuff.

Why can't he blame the facet? I assume you meant facet unless some how his faucet is playing a roll in this, in which case my mistake.

Trammies do it all the time, this seems like a good example to me.

Also there is still no risk in tram still in the same manner as in fel. So saying there is risk because someone killed his Spellbinders, not quite the same...
Good news how ever, your idea about idocs is being implemented next publish : )

A percentage of people will be selfish, immature and antisocial morons. More people play in Trammel than Fel, so absolute numbers will be higher, but the proportion won't change. Nothing to do with which facet, much more to do with lousy enforcement of their own rules by EA which means people get away with stuff EA claims to be opposed to, according to their own RoC, but almost universally fail to act on.

These so called 'Trammies' and 'Fel players' tend to be the same person. Maybe not the exact same person, but some people just 'play' the game as a whole and use the Tram/Fel division as just another point of contention where there isn't really any.

I would guess that the percentage of a**es on both factets are quite similar. I have learned that you find almost everywhere in RL the same percentage of a**es...

Tram players, fel players, the only real difference between the two are the play-styles. There are nasty people in every facet. Just because trammel players don't enjoy PvP doesn't mean they can't be just as rude as those who do.

I know some traders who NEVER go to Fel - there people are the most rude and greedy people I know. Much worse than any Fel-Person I ever met. However, they don´t spam the GC with trash talk (usually...)

I have had the same thing done to me a few times, one player was even accusing me of using an exploit to train resists and would not stop it.

Best way to train resists for a felucca player is to get a red mage and stone off eval int then cast para fields and walk through them. Faster than the spell binders from Haven too.

There are people like this on every shard, and always have been. They do similar things in RL too. You hear them in cafes and bars bragging to their mates about how they ruined someone's day, they're really proud of it. I guess all you can do is pity them. I would hate to be the kind of person who can only have 'fun' at the expense of someone else.
Way back when I was a shy little newbie, training my fledgling swords skills on ettins in Despise I fell foul of a bard with this attitude. He provo'd the creature I was fighting onto another, thereby reducing my chances to gain parry, etc. I left the creature and found another - he followed and provo'd my new target. This went on all around the dungeon level, I moved to a new target, he followed and provo'd it, until I gave up and left. My thoughts as I left? 'What a total moron'.

I may be wrong, but isn't it technically against the rules to stand where a mob can not physically reach you? Be it a boat off-shore,or standing in the white marble house. The Devs should add some low end magery spells to the spellbinders to keep the players honest. I would add pain spike, magic arrow, and harm to their spell list.

Yes, I notice Orgional Farimir didn't say that's what he was doing?
IF you are training with these where they can not reach you, it's termed 'blocking'. You can be reported to GMs for doing it, and people have been known to be jailed for it.
IF this is what Orgional Farimar was doing he was being harrassed by anti-cheat vigilantes. He could have reported them to GMs for harrassment.

So if he was cheating by the term blocking and and the anti cheats do something about it then they are the villians? LOL!?!?!

Now I am not saying he was cheating I am just trying to follow up on what you said. So this can basically go both ways. The anti cheats could of reported him without harrasing but the page goes unanswered and no consequences. Now he could page harrassment and they get jailed. Totally wonderful system devs!

erm, that's not what I said.
People have been jailed when reported for blocking.

I guess the moral, if that's what actually happened, is 'Two wrongs don't make a right'

There is an assumption that because the Devs don't say what actions have been taken against cheaters that none have been taken. This is not correct, if you look far enough you will occasionally find the odd admission hidden in long posts that someone has been disciplined.
And I think the best thing I can do with this thread is close it, it's headed for the same trainwreck as so many others.

Human nature is often competitive, a player may not enjoy or engage in PvP, but that doesn't stop them from having fun "controlling" another situation and fighting on safer ground in Tram. This is partly why I've always laughed at the suggestion that all the confrontational and "bad" players originate in Fel. That's just people for you. There is only "UO player" and they come in all personalities and playstyles. You'll find lovely decent and honourable mature players in Fel and you can find obnoxious griefers who will use every rule they can to get one up on others in tram. Just dangle some reward in tram and you'll see the worst that greed brings.

The spellbinders are one of those things the devs should have nipped in the bud a long time ago. The minute players started rounding them up and using them to train in total safety, something should have changed. Because there is a history of players battling each other - those who want to train safely with least effort and those who disrupt them to effect their own kind of player justice. It happened with satyrs and pixies, it happens with all that junk. Oh and both sides paging GMs and wasting their time on a broken spawn. I hope things like this are fixed and sorted sooner in future because a whole lot of unnecessary confrontation arises from them and a bit of tough love from the devs making a swift change would make more sense.
